Well done guys! An old trick I use when sticking a manual trans is to spray the input shaft with WD40. You'll be amazed at how much easier it slides in.
Congrats guys! One step closer to getting her back on the road/track. I'm really interested to see how this turns out because I'm loving the idea of this build for my Z.
Loctite the adapter plate on, BoostedBoiz had adapter plate bolts wiggle loose and caused the pilot bearing to get all chowdered up and the clutch to go funny. Maybe not a problem, but who knows
Those press in plugs can be removed best by piercing the middle with a sharp tapered punch. That will stretch it inward and release it from the hole. Then they should be installed with sealant. I worked in an engine machine shop, never used a drill for plugs like that
What does it take to get a Nissan and a Honda to mate? A Beamer of course! Some things are universal, like BMWs and mating. Great job boys, and *thank you Turn 14!*
Just in case you guys are tracking, I often watch these vids on my downtime at work. I don't want to log in to officially like the vid, so I'll come home and click the vid and like it in the first few seconds and skip ahead here and there (in case I wanted to recap). So don't think I'm not watching before liking! I love the channel and projects!
Are you putting any kind of blocking plate on the cover the gap from the bottom of the engine to the bottom of the trans? I would be worried about road debris flying up and damaging the backside of my flywheel.
Damn you guys are messing with my head. I genuinely thought Dave was a random friend helping at 15:15 because of the glasses and lack of permanent hat, before Dave stepped back in at 15:24. Penny didn't drop that it was the same person until he was talking with Dave's familiar voice in the credits.
I have a 328ci sports package parts car kicking around. Ive been trying to find somthing to do with it. This is super interesting. I didnt know people used these ZF 5 speeds? Now I need a Miata sonar car. Lol
Ran 9.96 @ 156 with a zf 5 speed in a 4 door e36 in like 2007. Only time ive ever broke them is long pulls in 3rd letting the boost build. Normal shifting its fine. Even handled 800whp no lift shifts at the track when the stupid bmw plastic gas pedal got broke and stuck.😂
I'm no Honda fan, preferring Rover and Chevy, but it's about time someone put a Honda engine in a rear wheel drive layout. I'd love to put one in a Triumph Herald or Morris Oxford, even a 1932 Ford. Oh yeah, Honda and British Leyland have historically been related, as does BMW.
I think it would fit with room to spare on the sides, might need a bit of trimming up top since that seems to be the area that can pose the most amount of clearance issues.
How can you tell when you torque a bolt the correct 10lbs for example. Is it each click from the wrench when the bolt is hand tighten any pointers will help
So is that the right pilot bearing to match the input shaft of that trans? Cus if the input shaft has play like that alignment tool did that's no good lol
The 5th gear in my e46 330ci doesn't centre itself when cold but does when up to temperature, will have to wait if I ever need to replace the clutch! What oil are you going to use seeing as it's "lifetime" and doesn't need to be replaced??
I remember Dave saying he liked the idea of building a kmiata one day in a past vid, think it was a gridlife walk around. It looks like great bits of kit. Still consider it after this build and your recent Miata off? Or LFX perhaps?
I just found a 2005 honda civic SI K20 with 90K miles for $350 is that a good deal ? I would like to build a rear wheel drive 1929 -31 ford open wheel 5 widow rat rod / streetrod using a motor like this what would it run to have your shop find the BMW trans. and get it all ready to install on this motor with the parts and adaptors in this video when I decide to start building one ? I just need a ball park estimate not a 100% accurate price thanks...
Does anyone know how you can fit any transmission to any car ? Whats the common thing that must be taken care of so that to happen ? For example can i put an FK8 6 speed manual on an old diesel bmw e39 ? Thanks
Nice!! A close look at the starter clearance mod after the starter was installed would have been interesting. Ever notice that all your Patron names are unusual names, except for Martin?...LOL (Might just be me....)
They should be good. The only reason most older bmw's shifts like trash when you drive them hard is because most of the bushings in the shifters are made of a soft rubber that moves a lot. Switching over to a harder material like delrin takes care of that most of the time, if not changing over to stiffer tranny and engine mounts.
hello and i have a question ! i own an acura TLX v6 9 speed. i wanted to know if i could swap out that trans and put in a 9 speed trans of and if i do. Are there any major problems i will encounter? they are both of the same brand and 9 speed. how ever the 9 speed of the RLX handles power better. plz advise
I’m installing a 6speed tranny with this kit right now and for the love of god can’t get the tranny to line up to the plate flush. There’s and alignment pin on top of the tranny which isn’t going sliding in to the plate even thought it’s sitting right on top of where it needs to go. I’ve aligned the discs and everything twice... any advice on getting it sitting flush before I can bolt it on correctly?
The K20(or K24) is one of the best production 4 cylinder engines ever made, with extremely high volumetric efficiency. This means it can drive larger turbos much easier than other 4 cylinders, meaning more power when you're talking about the upper limits of what is usable on a track. The BMW transmission simply holds a lot of power (700lb-ft ish) and is cheap. Compare it to the T56 transmission common in LS swaps, which holds 400 lb-ft on a good day and comes in at $2500+ USD used. The Nissan chassis? Honestly, I think a lot of that decision is nostalgia. It's based on a 1980s design and not that great, especially for a grip car (as opposed to a drift car). If you were after the ultimate (cheap and available) chassis, you would pick a Mazda RX8 or something. If you were after style, the obvious choice would be a Mercedes 190e.
Ironically, they're on two different ends of the spectrum. The KA24 was actually a truck motor used in the 240SX. On the otherhand, the K24 is arguably the best engineered 4-cylinder historically.
Using a kit designed for Mazda Miata to connect BMW transmission to a Honda engine that's going to sit in a Nissan. Damn that's deep
Don't forget they are using the electric PS from Toyota MR2 also lol
Sad when you need to pieces good bits off lots off shit cars TOGETHER lol
Haha that bell housing can connect to so many engines
In the pockets!
It gets expensive, this is why an LS swap is really cost efficient
Make a RWD civic with the K24.
Make a RWD Prelude with the K24.
Make a RWD (ANYTHING ELSE)with the K24.
Love your work Hosers.
Nukes Away need a rwd integra would love that
You know what. I heard you. Hold my beer.
You need to get some Alfa or Ferrari parts on there to have all the Axis powers represented. The car is, after all, an unholy alliance...
Well done guys!

The answer: Spend a bunch of money on an adapter kit, obviously.
15:36 its not the size its the motion of ocean !!!!!
Alfredo Lozano but you can’t get to China in a canoe.

"its in!"
The "HonDouble U-sx"
Gonna be dooope guys, I feel it!
videos are 10x better than the old ones!!
Those press in plugs can be removed best by piercing the middle with a sharp tapered punch. That will stretch it inward and release it from the hole. Then they should be installed with sealant. I worked in an engine machine shop, never used a drill for plugs like that
Badass I can't wait to see it done and ripping at the track!

Best car channel on youtube.
Those blind bearing pullers are awesome to have anyway. They pull pilot bearing from cranks like no problem
Nice to see another rwd on this channel
I normally don't watch this channel's videos when it pops up on my sub feed but this one was pretty good and worth my time.
Can you let us know why you don't normally watch the content? Not interesting? Too long? etc... We'd love to know!
Can't wait for those two beast to hit the track k-kouki and the bad ass $2k !!
Loving this build guys, can’t wait to see how it goes
Hope my rsx pulls like this when I go k24a2. I’m building mine on my channel too thanks for this info man
Geez Pete, doing things the right way for once. Keep up the good work.
Are you putting any kind of blocking plate on the cover the gap from the bottom of the engine to the bottom of the trans? I would be worried about road debris flying up and damaging the backside of my flywheel.
I have a 1991 b2200 and this looks very tempting
Loving this build cant wait for the final result great job guys

Love my k24, now if I could convert my RSX-S to rwd that'd be awesome. Thank you for the kool video.
I would love to see that
I have a 328ci sports package parts car kicking around. Ive been trying to find somthing to do with it.
This is super interesting. I didnt know people used these ZF 5 speeds?
Now I need a Miata sonar car. Lol
can't wait hopefully all the swap parts come out to do this myself
Like this guys ,not the best experience Tech ,but they will be!!Humble guys, when they do error they post it and share with us!!
Easy way to get plugs out like that without a slide hammer is to just out a self tapping screw into it and pry it out with a pry bar
In early for once.
Great job PT.

When are you guys gonna continue with the K swap? Looking forward to seeing it rev up and drive!
Just wondering if the new inside circlips you installed, were flat/sharp-side-out. Installing them rounded-side-out, can result in the clips failing.
can't wait those things run.!!
Oddly i was thinking what trans will be good to mate with a k20 for a datsun pickup , and this was in my recommendations 😂
PT with the clutch hip thrust to get things in just right!!!
HONDA doing the tango with BMW????? That's like...... peanut butter and avocado sandwich. A awesome acquired taste..lol! Great video guys!
Boosted boys got their done and running. But.... not the best running condition but it's running lol. Good luck guys!
We're trying to do this right the first time hence why its taking so long.
Speed Academy more time means more videos for us to watch!!! Ya always do a great job on every project!
@@speedacademy I can't wait to see it driving I hope it works mint
Just landed here. You paired those 2 for reliability and performance I suppose?
You guys should put this setup in a frs/brz. We would appreciate your work much more than these stuck up Nissan bois...
*After watching this video series I can tell you I sure as hell will never be putting a K20 into a 240SX. EVER. Too much BS to deal with.*
Afraid of a good challenge? Lol
(clears throat)......."Magik Dangle....that is all"🤣🤣

Awesome!! Your almost there!
heck yes honda power
SPEED ACADEMY,,,,, can you see if this gearbox would fit in the s2000 tunnel? Mite be a cheaper alternative for boosted s2000's like mine :)
use the transmission PFI speed is putting in their s2000 ;)
I think it would fit with room to spare on the sides, might need a bit of trimming up top since that seems to be the area that can pose the most amount of clearance issues.
Should have put a socket on the crank pully for torquing the flywheel
Bring More Water (BMW) parts...Oh boy....I’m talking crap while building an E30. (I’m only using the shell.)
what did you have to do for the vehicle speed sensor to get a honda ecm to recognize trans speed
How can you tell when you torque a bolt the correct 10lbs for example. Is it each click from the wrench when the bolt is hand tighten any pointers will help
@Speed Academy
Did you think about putting a 6 speed Nissan 350z transmission CD00A?
So is that the right pilot bearing to match the input shaft of that trans? Cus if the input shaft has play like that alignment tool did that's no good lol
Does this actually work long term? If it does u my friend are a car God to me
Hey, more BMW parts are always a good thing!
They did not lubricate the clutch shaft with high temp greasase. the throwout bearing is not to be seen which
needs lubrication also, and so on.
Would this cause noise when the clutch is out and make it go away when the clutch is pressed in
Remember to slide it in first before pounding it in
CAN a TSX K24A DOHC RBB V TEC engine fit a 95 honda prelude
Wait.. Did you say Schmorgashborg?
Anyways you could post the exact engine model and transmission as well the list of parts to mate the two?
The 5th gear in my e46 330ci doesn't centre itself when cold but does when up to temperature, will have to wait if I ever need to replace the clutch! What oil are you going to use seeing as it's "lifetime" and doesn't need to be replaced??
I remember Dave saying he liked the idea of building a kmiata one day in a past vid, think it was a gridlife walk around. It looks like great bits of kit. Still consider it after this build and your recent Miata off? Or LFX perhaps?
The magic dangle!

Love the work..... but I really don't see how this engine swap is anymore beneficial or cheaper than building the OEM engine.
Reliability, replacement parts, and way better engine design than the SR make it an enticing swap.
How much does this set up cost? Looking into doing this to a Toyota stout
Does anyone know how you can fit any transmission to any car ? Whats the common thing that must be taken care of so that to happen ?

Good call, we were too busy getting everything together.
This car is crazy!
What shifter or how did you mount the shifter In the 240 ? I plan on using a bmw transmission in my 240
If the food ranger ever work on cars he would be this guy lmfao
Honda engine & BMW trans in a Nissan, that's amazing
Jerry Neutron is it though? I don't get it
Smashed it ten times!!
man with all K swap going on makes me wanna ditch my ls swapped 95 bmw 540 and stuff in a K lolmight be fun!!!!!!!!!
The e46 gearbox might be bulletproof but the stock shifter feels like garbage on track imo. Maybe a CAE shifter is in order for the S14?
Hoping that the Kmiata shifter improves the feel.
They should be good. The only reason most older bmw's shifts like trash when you drive them hard is because most of the bushings in the shifters are made of a soft rubber that moves a lot. Please make a trackday video with FRS vs BadASS200 !
I would love this swap on my nissan d21
New video, thumbs up. Easy as that.
hello and i have a question ! i own an acura TLX v6 9 speed. i wanted to know if i could swap out that trans and put in a 9 speed trans of and if i do. Are there any major problems i will encounter? they are both of the same brand and 9 speed. how ever the 9 speed of the RLX handles power better. plz advise
I’m doing a 4G63 swap with the same transmission. Can I use that same flywheel set up with the K-Miata flywheel as well?
Any reason you didnt want to use the S2000 transmission, too weak?
What a way to put it in, great work PT, fantastic stuff!
What would I need to do a k series gearbox on a r18 engine?
Do you guys have a complete parts list of this build? Id like to do it on my s13. I checked on ur page but idk if its there
Keep up the great work!
I’m installing a 6speed tranny with this kit right now and for the love of god can’t get the tranny to line up to the plate flush. I’ve aligned the discs and everything twice... any advice on getting it sitting flush before I can bolt it on correctly?
1 question why do you have to put tape on the alignment tool when you can just run a BMW pilot bearing things don't make sense ?
Is this dct compatible with Sr20det
What are the specifications of that transmission?
Heeeeey, I got here fast af lol. Y’all wanna k swap my E30?
KMiata is possibly going to work on that kit next, as they have already done the transmission. Hit them up!
I’m interested to see how they make the Honda electronics talk to the Nissan electronics. That aspect always interests me
Shouldn't be too hard and that will be in an episode very soon!
Speed Academy Awesome!! Looking forward to it
What car is that that you're putting it into
What zf trans is that? Can you tell me the code of it?
Is the clutch for a ZF trans?
I admit I'm not up on gearhead stuff like you ...why this combo?
The K20(or K24) is one of the best production 4 cylinder engines ever made, with extremely high volumetric efficiency. What year and model transmission?
pretty cool.. but I don't get why people don't just build on the 240's stock 2.4 DOHC engine. it's a good engine to build..
Ironically, they're on two different ends of the spectrum. The KA24 was actually a truck motor used in the 240SX.
On the otherhand, the K24 is arguably the best engineered 4-cylinder historically.
Anyone know what other bmw transmission this kit works with? Will it work with an e36 getrag?
12:48 doesn't the shim go behind the flywheel
No, the reason for the plate is to prevent the bolt heads from chewing up the surface of the flywheel.
Possibly but could also be a shim to push out the flywheel out . When flywheels are resurfaced they come with shims like that
