Love that song! I still remember the first time I heard it. I was a little kid and my mom was ironing with the radio on. I thought the girl was singing “I’m your peanut, I’m your butter.”! I think you should cut me a little slack, because I was exposed to bubblegum like “Sugar, Sugar “ and “Crimson and Clover.” But great guitar lesson. This is really rock and roll!
I come back to your lesson on this song every time . thank you so much Bruce keep up the good work . its time for me to buy a flanger pedal for my Benson strat now I think, love that sound its got me hooked.
Those Fender Jaguar's have the period cool in them with all the old-school slide switches, etc. It's got that 60's sort of look and vibe to go with it's chimey-strat-alike sound. Add a little tremolo, touch of chorus & reverb --- and voilla!!
Listening to the record I wasn't sure if the first notes on the solo were a slide to Bb - G or B - G. I thought it was one or the other but hearing and seeing you put me straight. Thanks.
What can I say Bruce, your working knowledge of the fretboard is amazing, a product of many years of practice, I would say. It's also plain to see your a stickler for perfection & ya do a helluva job achieving it. It is always a treat to watch someone of you caliber. Thanks for all your time Bro!!! Big Fan, Mike
Thank you for this fine example and the slowing-down of the more difficult pieces. I have one advice, though. Why don't you play the three strokes on the Em and A chord (and later on the Am en D chord) up-down-up, instead of three times down (what you play now)? It sounds much better, because it gives a more prominent pulse. You are doing it the (IMO) 'right' way on 11:56, so I know it is 'in your system'. I would prefer to play that way right from the start. Happy practicing!
Thanks for the nice tutorial. I can't quite exactly figure out what you are doing on 5:20/5:21? I see index-finger on 5th fret A-string, ring-finger on 7th fret D-string... but what about your middle-finger? It looks like it's on the 6th fret D-string? is it "damping" the G-string?
Shocking Blue does not use all down strokes. Also, for the less familiar chords, you should show finger positions. B dom 7 sus 4 for example (I thought that was a Bm chord in the song). Good lesson, however, showing all parts of the song.
bruce, let me begin by saying, i really enjoy your videos. thanks for getting back to me. if you can find the time, i would like a video by paul revere and the raiders. the song is JUST LIKE ME.. again, thankyou dick bailey
Sorry, but I still don't understand the D major explanation above. Your pinky finger is not used in the video, yet it seems to be needed in the tab above (x 5 7 7 7 x). Could you or someone pls. explain how to do it properly? Thank you!
Love all the lessons and appreciate your time to make these lessons available to those who love classic rock and roll guitar.
You're welcome

Yo Bruce, can you make a lesson on Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells please?
Thanks sir, what effect did you use? Just reverb? Or is actually tremolo? Or both?
Thanks
..you might play it with alternate mode, without stopping the ritmic part,..however it's a good job, like you explain after ..ok?

@@edbenforado6116 if it's still relevant, you bar the 4th, 3rd and 2nd strings with your ring finger

the Em to A should be continuous and smooth. seamless. you're breaking it up. no offense. same with AM to D. just seems a little stiff.
bruce, do you take any requests? dick bailey
никого не хочу обидеть, но что то очень не очень
Screw the chords play the lead, man

Close... but no cigar. Listen to the video again.
The right hand is not correct and it is not Down down and down down. Not so easy this "simple song" !!
Your strumming is off just up and down up and down. It's simple. Can't you tell.
Strumming pattern is wrong
