Audrey has convinced me to 'invest' in fewer pieces of clothing or footwear that makes me feel great, instead of splurging the same amount in more number of less costly things. After a year, the less costly stuff doesn't belong anywhere. The better quality ones stay with us.
TheBookloverforever , I so agree! For quite awhile time I would get into that whole phase where they were many sales and I would purchase something in the hopes that it would satisfy what I really wanted. But then I was settling and I found that I was spending more money and not really getting the one piece I had wanted from the beginning. The irony is that when I was younger I had better classic and quality pieces, because I didn’t have as much money , so it forced me to really think or aim for what I wanted. Now it’s reverting me back to that principle and I feel much better for it!
Your vintage sweater is so classy. Many years ago I bought several sweaters like that from a store called Casual Corner. Oh how often I think of items I purchased from that store and wish they were still in business. Classic clothing at reasonable prices and they always used real fabrics unlike so many disposable clothing made today.
I forgot about Casual Corner! That was my go-to store for work clothes years ago. Back then, I wore a lot of dresses. I always felt pulled together whenever I wore something from that store. Are there any stores like that around anymore?
Brunettes look great in black with white. HIgh contrast looks womderful on them But on blondes not so much. As a blonde it took me quite awhile to find my best colors. I am warm golden blonde with light but, warm skin, golden toned. I have tourquoise eyes. So here is what works for me. AS basic colors cream, never white as my lightest color. Camel esp. Caramel, the warmer tones....then cognac a darker warm brown as my hest darker neutral. I do sometimes wear a dark warm brown only because it is easier to find these things in blazers and pants. Coral and a medium warm pink looks good together and on ke. The light dusty pinks so popular recently look awful on me. I can wear a warmer navy color. REd generally looks fine on me. So red, cream and a warm navy is a good combo for me for summer as a classic combination. I do like to wear teal called a universal color, my blonde hair looks great with it in winter for dresses...these dresses are dark enough to be slimming, make my tourquoise eyes pop also. I wear real sweaters and tops too usually with a warm navy or cream. Tourquoise is my number one color for tops, sweaters and blouses but many years it is not in style. IT is my signature color for my eyes so I never get rid of tourquoise tops. If the style looks dated I just wear it for home wear. Yellow, butter yellow, never acid yellow looks good, inside darker blazers. It brighten a dark, brown blazer and looks great with my cognac leather blazer, and several cognac suede jackets. I,wear mostly flesh colored, cognac , or medium brown shoes and boots. I,especially love alligator . I wear almost all gold metals but I,have some tourquoise and silver jewelry I have ,,this,I,tend to,wear, with casual outfits like dark wash jeans. I do love my tourquoise with gold jewelry which always looks dressier even in casual styles. My favorite earrings are round shiny hammered silver with gold bars across them between the size of a dime and a quarter. These I can mix with gold or,silver jecklaces... very versatile and the perfect size for my face. I hope this helps bec it took members to,work this, out, for my coloring...so for, any warm blonde warm skin with tourquoise eyes I think,it would work well.
Yes definitely make a series about color combinations. Especially about colours not just neutrals. I'd love to watch it. Thank you for this video and all of the past ones I just binge watched during the self isolation. I love the structure of your videos, your soothing toned voice and quality of the information given. Thank you for your hard work!
Audrey, as a fellow millennial, you are a breath of fresh air. You really are a gem 💎 among so many loud and attention-grabbing millennials. You grab my attention in a different way - with your captivating voice, class and humbleness. You’ve inspired me to take a look at my own colour palette and make smarter choices! Thank you. I have a feeling your channel will sneak up on people 💜💎.
My grandmother who was probably the most stylish person I knew would always style black and navy together. If I see that color combo together it always reminds me of her. I have suspected that maybe she did it by accident as with some shades I cannot tell the difference.
Great video, Audrey. I’d love to see another on different color combo’s. Gray, as someone mentioned, olive, burgundy. I adore navy and black and also think camel or tan and navy is very chic. Or burgundy and camel. Gray and white.
Growing up in the 60s, I didn’t have lots of accessories....altogether maybe 4 pairs of shoes, black or brown or navy, white or cream, sandals, maybe sneakers and a pair of winter boots. We wore our basics with our entire wardrobe. Just how it was and I remember feeling very content about that... at least until white gogo boots became a thing.😆
On a very special trip to Paris, the sales associate at the Rue Cambon Chanel told me Coco preferred, and often wore, black with blue! Your instincts are always on point Audrey ❤️
I would like a video about how to match vibrant colours, bold patterns... I mean, two simple pieces plus a bold one? I need some guidance. And also which vibrant colours match with which simple colours.
wonderful idea! I miss colors myself and find that wearing neutrals or basic colors with just one vivid color or accent can be difficult to pull off in the right way. It was always easier for me to match darker colors with vibrant colors than light pastels with bright colors...
Hi Audrey, i love those combinations, are still planning to use your beautiful dresses n summer blouses? Can you tell us ples what is your favorite brand of lingerie? Your blouses always looks perfect, like you have the correct bra.😊💝
Love the color combo especially navy & black. I was discouraged when I was younger not to combine navy & black. So ecstatic that you endorse this combo. 👏🏽👏🏽❤️🙏🏽☺️
Dear Audrey, not only do I love your content, but when I hear your voice, it reminds me of a sweet lullaby. Yes, to the a color series. I am purging like mad in my closet today.
Thank you! Wonderful pairings, and so helpful for me. I was thinking I had to expand my color palate but I always gravitate towards black, white, and navy. Funny thing; red is my favorite color! I an trying to incorporate it for accessories.
Was a revelation when you said in another video to wear skin coloured underwear under white clothes! Love it and your speech patterns - calming soft and unhurried -oh and your fashion tips!
I would love a mini-series on color combinations especially with navy. I find myself gravitating to navy more and more as I get older. Also I appreciate your insight with a wardrobe for a warmer climate. Love your videos!
I live in San Antonio where its more hot than cold. My go to style is black, white and neutrals. Being Hispanic, the color culture in general is bright and colorful. I can relate to being frowned upon on repeating my favorite colors and style. Thank you for the positive encouragement, I needed to hear your message. I feel my best in my color/style. 🥰🧥🕶❤️.
Hi Audrey. I am working my way through your color combinations series. I love navy and black together, partially because my mother always told me they shouldn’t be worn together and I’m a rebel at heart ☺️
Great inspiring video to try various combinations of staple colors. Thanks for the reminder that navy and black looks good together . Also camel and white, and camel and black. Have a great weekend.
What about adding gray to the mix? There are cool and warm tones of gray as well, and it can be a softer dark color as well. I think it a nice transition color from summer to fall & winter to spring. Many ways you can play it. Thanks!
Yes! I wear light gray pants sometimes in the summer as an alternative to white or khaki. Light gray pants look so pretty and chic with a clear pastel top. I love pale pink, so I often wear that combo.
That vintage sweater you're wearing I'd buy in three different colours. And I'm someone who never buys the same thing in different colours. You look absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful video. Thank you 💜
I previously read somewhere that navy and black do not 'belong' together but they actually look so pretty and sophisticated! I love black and navy myself and this video is a fresh perspective. There is no more reason to be afraid to wear these two colours together. Thank you!
Please do more videos with color combinations. I’ve always struggled with this problem, but recently I’ve begun to find my own style. Videos like this are very informative.
Yes! Love this! Thank you for the endorsement of neutral tones. My personal colors are white, grey, black, tan, brown, and blue. I can mix an infinite combination of outfits based on these. I find it is the combination that becomes the star. And because I’m relatively fair, I wear softer tones, generally. It works perfectly!
I love Audrey’s insights and inspiration. As I am looking to clean out and reorganize my closet, I will use much of her advise to help me hone in on what I’d like to keep that truly works for me and what is just taking up space. I always learn something valuable from time spent watching her videos. Thank you, Audrey, for helping me become a better and more confident version of myself!
Thank you for your very elegant styling tips Audrey. I’ve been following your posts for a few months now as I too, love classic, stylish clothing but being in my early 60’s (and living in Cambridge, England) I’m always aware of the need to ensure my look is ‘current’ and not dated. I’m so pleased with my newly ‘curated’ wardrobe and many thanks for highlighting ‘The Curated’s’ camel coats, their tailored coat is on my Autumn ‘Wish List’. I’ve been in touch with the company and their Customer Service is excellent, I’m so pleased to have found them. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to your next posting!
The outfit you wear in the first seconds of this video is exactly my favorite outfit of all time (with very similar pieces). This style is gorgeous on anybody and any morphology. Love this kind of video ♡ xx from France
I'm nodding, nodding, nodding, nodding in agreement for all color combos! Loving them all, even though some are definitely more present in my own closet than others. Definitely incorporating more of navy, creme and camel into my wardrobe as I love them
I'd LOVE more about color combinations from you. Your style is so classy, I want to hear your opinion on lighter and brighter colours. In classic color theory I'm a true summer (bright, cool, medium coloring) and while I love black/white and navy/white, I kinda want to make a change because my contrast isn't high enough to wear it as good as you
Hi Audrey love this episode! And yes I think you should do some dives into other common color combinations. I think that would be a great asset to anybody’s wardrobe or if they think they’re trying to step outside their comfort zone and not sure where to go. Thank you again
I really enjoyed this video on color combinations. I'm so glad you're still posting, many of the people I follow have stopped posting and I really appreciate your dedication especially under the circumstances. You're a bright and interesting part of my week, always informative and always classy. Thank you!
Hi, I really enjoyed this video. I have lots of pieces but unfortunately I tend to wear the same things over and over. You have given me some great tips on how to mix and match. I also love naturals, navy, white and black but occasionally I like wear red or teal, just to spice it up. Your voice is so calming, and you seem such a genuine person, nil ego involved. Thank you
Hi beautiful Audrey !! Yes yes I think it would be great to have more color combination styles. Knowing what goes with what is my biggest issues, and almost always end up wearing black. Thank you.
The color combinations introduced in this video are in typical Audrey style, classic and elegant. Regardless of colors, the style is always spot on, even with the black & blue combi which is not an easy one to pull off, looks so good here. So it’s the style more than the colors that matters, and that is the reason why I love Audrey’s channel. Looking forward to the colour series for sure!
YES for the mini series! i can relate so much with your monochrome palette when you're in the city. although some will find them boring, they're actually foolproof and saves lots of time getting ready for work in the morning!
I like what you said about “assurance” in your style! I think we both have similar colouring and I find the colours you wear would suit me. I love what to said how you have to spend more time when you wear camel. It’s so true. It washes me out so much but if I add more make up or style it with something bold, it looks great. And YES to the mini series too! I would like to know other colour combos even if it wouldn’t go with my colouring.
I think the point that resonated about black with navy is that they need to be distinct. Although difficult through a screen, I saw one photo with top and slacks that I really wasn't sure were 'different' enough which always makes me think something has faded or just a dye lot that wasn't as intense. When distinctly 2 different colors, black and navy look striking. Love these videos.
Audrey has convinced me to 'invest' in fewer pieces of clothing or footwear that makes me feel great, instead of splurging the same amount in more number of less costly things. After a year, the less costly stuff doesn't belong anywhere. The better quality ones stay with us.

Navy and black works well for me. Yes I used it with a belt. Classy!!!
I kinda like how this girl tries to educate about style not just random trends thrown together its refreshing
voting YES for the mini series!!
As always good tips. Lovely practical examples.

I was a big Casual Corner shopper too! On a rare occasion I still find Casual Corner pieces at thrift stores.
Donna, I miss casual corner too. It was my go to for work wear and filled with classic style pieces and their sales associates were always so helpful.

Gloria Durelli me too! I loved their polished work pieces. I don’t find anything like that nowadays. I buy Kasper pieces from various places.
As much as I like seeing people dressed like that, I can't live without bright colors... My wardrobe looks like a rainbow. :)
Masha and the Panda agreed!! I am a deep winter so I NEED colour. I can’t wear any shade of beige or tan beige because it makes me look ill.
It is never out of style to wear colours that suit you. Classic and timeless are two different things
@@schneeroseful No, classic and timeless are basically the same.

A classic colour palette is eternally stylish and elegant.

Navy Blue and Black are neutrals therefore they can be paired together.

Also absolutely yes to this being a series. I'd also love to know more about your approach to a seasonless wardrobe!
Yes, mini series! 💗💗
