@PopalongRC For sure! What rear toe are you running? You could try removing rear toe , softer front spring or stiffen the rear! Also stand up the front shocks , give it a go
Funny you mention Schumacher, I ordered the L1R, should be here in a couple days. The 2wd was my first buggy back in my younger days, rode my bicycle 30 miles to purchase it with my saved paper route money. Later on I purchased a Cat XLS. Now I kick myself for letting them go.
Switch the alloy insert to the inside and run the plastic on one the outside. That way it won't be able to pull through even if the plastic one on the outside gets beat up. Been running this way for over a year and no issues. Also, since you're running on such small, tight tracks you probably won't notice much of a difference with the 22x-4 rear arms. They help settle the rear when you're rolling into power say out of a sweeper and make the car smoother around corners which ups corner speed. Great for a wide open high speed track not needed on a small, tight track 👍
don't let it grind you down Carl, you ask some of the lads me trying to get my TT01 dialed that took months. Between setup, upgrades and changing my driving style which I'm still learning every session on I feel like I have come far. I feel the pain I do, I lost count how many time to car almost went out the window 😂😂
That TLR was always going to be hard work. Rare in the UK, dirt & clay! I’d be moving it on as it’s clearly frustrating and wasting precious racing days. Get another buggy, Schumacher or XRay and get a truck 😅
@PopalongRC I've only been racing since April with the 22x-4 and bought the 22 5.0 a few weeks ago. Felt like it's got loads of potential. Just for fun watch this. It's me making the next B finals at Southport, last 2 races. Both times start in last place (bright blue and orange car) ua-cam.com/video/Fdq7q9JJ9Ws/v-deo.html
Oh, one more thing. Think of the 22x-4 arms like a tuning option just as the B6.4 75mm and 73mm rear arms are. The stock 22 5.0 arms are approx 2mm shorter than the 22x-4 arms. Also, you really don't need to buy anything else to try the 22x-4 arms, most everyone will say 22x-4 rear hinge pins and either a Vision Racing or Avid C-block. If you don't want to buy anything but the arms you can trim the inside of the arm where the hinge pin goes to the same length as the stock arms so they fit, I believe it's about 7mm. The outer hinge pin is captured on the 22x-4 arm but if you drill out the forward hole in the outer arm so it isn't blocked off you can use the 5.0 hinge pin setup. Easy peasy.
That car is fine.Ya just have to work out the bugs.Make sure you have a correct indoor carpet set up going too.I run a tlr 22 also,it took me a season to be somewhat competitive...you'll get it....
I had a funny feeling this episode was going to end with a new car needed. I'm a Kyosho fanboy but if there had to be another choice, Schumy would be there.
I did the same by hitting a pipe on the dirt track. You can get a aluminum replacement but we all stick with the poly for weight. Kind a freak break for real vs turnbuckle popping off. Turnbuckle is what I thought from the footage. Still excellent improvements !! try taking toe out of rear. go to 1' only
The car TLR runs on dirt is also different from what you get as a kit i'm told. Could get an xray, dirt and carpet variant are pretty similar and therefore easy to switch from either.
There's always room for another car.....And I do sympathise with you, I run an SNRC/Team Powers FFV3M (and FFV3) at Stevenage and HRCC, and nobody else has one, which isn't much of a surprise, so I'm on my own with setups etc. I do like the cars though, very good for a decent price.
Get a Yokomo SO.... Its a bargain, you get loads in the box (alloy, roll bars, ball and gear diff....) , will run good on carpet out of the box and I'll send you a load of setups!
We are AE.. 😂 very robust car..I believe you need gear diffs for carpet..that track looks fun to drive..yes true many racers at my track also runs AE..
Do they not have practice days at tracks/clubs in the old dart? I could be really wrong here, but one of the things I like about Associated buggies is that they seem to come out of the box with a decent neutral set up that you can work on to fine tune them. Seems that way. Have you thought of the Yokomo YZ2? They seem to go ok, I have no idea how available they are in the UK though. Anyway, I'll be here watching whatever you do. P.S: Maybe you could button down Kevs mate Vinny next time you're at his club. He really seems top know what he's doing.

Carl, you've got the same problem I do. You see something nice that works. You buy it and work it, and you see something else doing a little better. And then you assume the other car is better, doubt sets in and you start longing for what you don't have. But exactly that is the point where you start switching, instead of sticking with your guns. While the other car probably had someone struggling with the tuning behind it as much as you do now. And admittedly, some driving characteristics just aren't for you, some are. But i'm guessing considering the time you stuck in this buggy that is not the case. So try to appreciate the nice cool buggy you have. Find the things you appreciate about it and work on its strengths. Switching just means you have to do the same thing again. And yep, asking Dave might be the best way to learn appreciation for your TLR again. Just a quick question: What kind of weights do you use? I have this cool truck that keeps trying to flip over backwards and i'm trying to figure out how to weigh the front down.
hi i have been doing touring cars and i have been advised to get another touring car which is better because there is no point spending lots of money on a car just for it to be as good as another car that is fairly stock
