  • 99% of the vinyl I use on my channel is Specialty Materials Brands I have tried many kinds over the years, and they are my absolute favorite. The quality is top-notch, I have a video where I wash a shirt 50 times, and the vinyl still looks brand new. • Thermoflex vs. Siser: ... They have the most extensive range of products and colors around ( there are over 90 colors in the ThermoFlex Plus and GlitterFlex Ultra lines alone). They also offer free product samples on their website, which you don’t see anymore. Trust me, request a sample because if you try it, you will know why I love it.

    I’ve had success with letting the base vinyl cool a little before removing the carrier sheet. Probably the same reasoning of holding the vinyl in place. But I want to try your way as well.

    Thank you for the video. The design is cute. So, are you just saving the carrier sheet from your htv projects? If so, how do you protect the sticky side until you are ready to use it?

    Can you buy the carrier sheet separate or do you just waste a htv vinyl to get the sheet? i hope this questions makes sense.

    Hi Betsy, is it because that back sticky sheet is holding the shirt fibers from moving? I always have problems with layers not fitting in perfectly. I was always told it was because of shrinkage

    Can you use htv transfer tape on the inside of the shirt instead of the sticky from the htv?

    • @CuttinCornersVinyl

      The sticky is a type of transfer tape. Regular transfer tape isn’t stiff or sticky enough to hold it together.

    I have a simple shirt (for me) thats just 3 lines of text and the vinyl is hardening, no peel yet but the sharp corners of letters are going to get lifted eventually etc, it is worn about every 1-2 weeks, its 8 months old and machine washed at 40 or 60 so its held up very well its like new except for the letter points which can nearly cut skin!
    i dont want to throw it away when the letters are in great condition, so i'm wondering if theres a way to soften the htv?

    • @CuttinCornersVinyl

    How do you make the htv stop bubbling? I'm trying to make corgi sweaters so I'm layering on 4 colors and the 1st 2 colors are big pieces. The 2nd color starts to bubble which makes my next 2 color not line up correctly.

    • @LightKemist
      @LightKemist 2 місяці тому

      @@xxsecretdreamerzxx did you ever find the answer to your question ? I have the same issue as well using glossy htv vinyl

    • @xxsecretdreamerzxx
      @xxsecretdreamerzxx 2 місяці тому

      @LightKemist I haven't yet 😞 sorry. I tried to do the subtract of the layers so it won't be on top of each other, but it gets kind of hard to line up. I needed something sticky to hold the shirt down as I peeled the backing away so the vinyl won't pull, but I ended up deforming my cutting mat when I tried to heat my htv.

    • @LightKemist
      @LightKemist 2 місяці тому

      @xxsecretdreamerzxx oh wow, that's crazy. I think I might have a fix for the problem. I do sublimation printing, and I use htvront vinyl, but I never used the glossy one before, which is the one I'm currently having the bubble issues with because the matte vinyl does not do this. So, I found two videos in regards to vinyl pressing and bubble issues. One involves cutting multiple slits on all sides of the print that gets sublimated to the vinyl and the other video said to spray a mist of water underneath the vinyl before it's adhered to the surface. I dont know which one you're doing, but I hope this helps because I will try the cut technique tomorrow.
