As a long time gamer, way back in the early 90`s, I always looked for games by Irem. They have always had the games I liked and it seemed like they gave Capcom some serious competition. I had no idea they made so many games and no to mention coin ops too. Great video.Keep them coming. You just earned a new subscriber.
I think Irem and it's immediately R-TYPE in my mind. I love the "gritty" visuals in Undercover Cops, In The Hunt, Cosmic Cop and Gunforce. Ninja Spirit into a modern action-rpg would be incredible!
Fenomenal!!
Saludos!
From the beginning it looks like IREM was just imitating Taito and Namco but didn't really start finding their identity until around the mid 80s. Irem was known for; Lode Runner, Kung Fu Master, the first of the beat em' up games, R-Type, Bomberman, Ninja Spirit, Image Fight, X-Multiply, Gunforce Battle and In The Hunt, which were precursors to Metal Slug.
Irem is very influential in the Japanese game development industry. Without them, we wouldn't have Aicom and Yumekobo, which meant no Pulstar, Blazing Star, and Prehistoric Isle 2. There'd be no Nazca and no Metal Slug. These guys sure gets around They don't seem to understand the meaning of "easy", that's just not their development style. If an Irem game is easy, it means they've screwed up. A true Irem game has to make you want to rip your hair out in frustration
I've already made a collection of arcade games on retropie 3 along with other consoles. No need to wait. Plus it in your TV, tinker with scanlines and aspect ratio, plug in a controller of your choice and you are good to go. It will take some effort to set up but the device only costs 100 soemthing with 128 gb sd card. Can't go wrong. All in one place. I'm just using this video to learn up other IREM games that I can add to the arcade collection on Retropie. haha
AJ Singh hey asshole, fuck your emulations. We want legit re-releases. I hate comments like yours. Developers see that shit and then figure what’s the point of doing a solid port if these jerks just download everything anyway. Keep that shit to yourself.
Love irem games especially the r type series and x multiply. Would love to see r type Leo on arcade archives one day as that’s one I’ve never played but it looks awesome.
nice, no nasty blocky digital pixels in this presentation but pixels with scanlines, bloom n shadow mask etc so it looks nice as it was on a CRT, when will youngsters who werent there learn that their hipster pixel art games arent retro really and just look shite
Irem 2 years later become Nazca Corporation... the same team has build Metal Slug. In Metal Slug 2 Nazca was purchased by SNK. So Yes. Irem is the same team as Metal Slug.
R-type 1-2-Leo...In the hunt..Cosmic cops.. Some real greatest classics. (If someone knows where I can have Troubles witches neo and King of fighters 2002 U.M on Xbox360..they are not available...thanks).
15:27 People sleeping on Ninja Spirit. If you haven't played this game you really need to. This player is doing a terrible job showing it off. Has four unique weapons with 8-Way directional weapons you can switch to at all times. You can throw or set the dynamite, throw ninja stars (with clones for full screen spammage) spin the grappling hook around the entire screen, or swing upward and stab through the floorboards with the sword. All in realtime.
And the best side scroller shootemup ever. Graphics, sound and gameplay matching perfectly. I still occasionally sing the r-type tunes (along with puffin's of course).
I just got this IREM Uni wars videogame on a cocktail arcade machine, do you guys know if all the motherboard none jamma are comparable for the pre 1985 era ? Great video !
how many videogame brands your youtube page remembers me - Jaleco Corp, LJN rainbow symbol, corp Acclaim, Brøderbund (Prince of Persia) becomes Irem Corp

Please keep uploading this kind of post. As a huge fan of old game, I really enjoy watching your post. Thank you!

Temazo de entrada del juego R-type Arcade!!
Infancia regresa!😢😢
Always best in chronological order. Irem was huge in orchestrating the selection during the early NES years
I think Irem and it's immediately R-TYPE in my mind.
I love the "gritty" visuals in Undercover Cops, In The Hunt, Cosmic Cop and Gunforce.
Ninja Spirit into a modern action-rpg would be incredible!
Irem had some great games in the 80's & 90's they were awesome
Kung Fu Master really needs to come to Arcade Archives on the Switch..
Your videos are fantastic. Well produced and to the point.
Keep em coming.
Fenomenal!!
IREM is one of the most influential game devs of all time
¡Saludos!
Played a lot of these games in the arcade. Love the retro look with the scanlines. Great stuff
Red Alert gave me anxiety every time I played it. The little nukes falling and total destruction at that age.
In the hunt was one of my favourites back in the day. I never got to see ninja baseball or gunforce2.. wish i did
Irem were always a master class of pixel/sprite work, but they really started to pull away, and become the best of the best in 1990.
Phenomenal art style and animations on some of these games!
Moon patrol was the first game ever to a have parallax scrolling background.
IREM games are always one step ahead from the competition. Always going that extra mile
Kung Fu Master. My favorite game of all the times.

IREM games all had excellent pixel artwork. Even all those early 80s shooters looked better than their competitors' games.
It's crazy how the guys at Irem would branch off and create Metal Slug 1 to 3 then just disappear with scarce information on them.
Kung Fu / Vigilante & Ninja Spirit are my favorite Irem game's
Simple Logic Itspopnotsodabitch *games - no apostrophe
They released many killer shoot 'em ups
Nice one,Subscribed. Please keep it comin...
Adiós vieja Irem Corp (1974-1994)
the originators of the METAL SLUG look
I hope there will be some kind of Irem Collection for either the PS4 or the Switch
There are Irem games on ps4. Can't believe they haven't put the Gunforce games and Kung-Fu Master on there yet though.
I think irem arcade collection is gonna be out on PS5
I've already made a collection of arcade games on retropie 3 along with other consoles. No need to wait. Me too man 😀
Best spritework in the industry, bar none.
irem is a great great company!! these games are awesome...i want all of them...original cabs amd all.....or at least a few...
ok one ..i would take spartan x and be happier than a pig in shit...
Love irem games especially the r type series and x multiply. Would love to see r type Leo on arcade archives one day as that’s one I’ve never played but it looks awesome.
Kung Fu master and Dragon Breed i love it
Out Zone
nice, no nasty blocky digital pixels in this presentation but pixels with scanlines, bloom n shadow mask etc so it looks nice as it was on a CRT, when will youngsters who werent there learn that their hipster pixel art games arent retro really and just look shite
Mythic kungfu warrior... Classic moon patrol... I played hammering harry a lot, too... Bomber man....
And the rtype too, obviously
Dragon breed needs a rerelease. Looks insane
Buenos juegos de irem de la epoca
I've been using your videos to fill up my rom list for my atgames legends I have coming in. Thanks so much!!
Awesome video, I love it!
R-type Delta is my favourite game....... It took ideas from X Multiply and perfected them
Some truly games there...
These old arcade games got more appeal to me than my Series X game's!!!
34:49 dream soccer 94 was basically the 90s arcade version of Red Card by midway
i see a soccer player using the liu kang flying kick
How many versions of Lode Runner did these guys make
Kung-fu Master needs to be released on console. And the Gunforce games.
The games from before the late 80s, or at least a good chunk of them were notorious for the ‘5’ character being condensed.
I had absolutely NO idea that Hammerin' Harry was a IREM game
These games were so underrated, I love them so much.
Yeah! Ninja Spirit!
Major Title@19:55...I see where SNK got their idea for Neo Turf Masters
Those dream soccer.94 tackles 😭😭
Does anyone remember a arcade game Ninja Spirit it was also on the Amstrad, commodore 64 and amiga a side scrolling action game.
One of the few games I was able to complete on the Amstrad.
a company with excellent dot graphics
Undercover Cops is inspired in a manga?
can you tell me what is your mame config...shaders..etc? thank you
Some of these games remember me of the design art of Metal Slug, even some sounds are the same. Like in 28:28, 31:55 and 35:30.
Irem 2 years later become Nazca Corporation... the same team has build Metal Slug. In Metal Slug 2 Nazca was purchased by SNK. So Yes. Irem is the same team as Metal Slug.
Nice compilation :)
Agreed, a definite gem.
The most iconic game of the company: R-TYPE.
And the best side scroller shootemup ever. Graphics, sound and gameplay matching perfectly. I still occasionally sing the r-type tunes (along with puffin's of course).
Wow, nice job thanks!!
Ninja Spirit best game ever!!!
32:57 MELT DOWN WINS
Melt Down: "FUCK!!"
Would love to see a irem anniversary physical disc with the majority of these games on the ps4..
I just got this IREM Uni wars videogame on a cocktail arcade machine, do you guys know if all the motherboard none jamma are comparable for the pre 1985 era ?
Great video !
I like Irem Games miss it.
Hola, ¿qué shader utilizas? Se ve muy bien.
17:16 I've never played this game but i kinda want to because it looks like a R-Type/Gradius hybrid.
What shader are you using, looks really good 👍🏻
Video Mode: BGFX; crt-geom deluxe (delta 2_4x2) and also sometimes HLSL GLSL
CRT-Geom is literally the only shader anyone should ever need.
Battle Chopper must have been the inspiration for Psygnosis Blood Money
That and a bit of R type
how many videogame brands your youtube page remembers me - Jaleco Corp, LJN rainbow symbol, corp Acclaim, Brøderbund (Prince of Persia) becomes Irem Corp
0:00 I bet R-type is on the list
12:32 KNEW IT!
how to get these games working cant seem to play any of them great video by the way
And a lot of great clones of games I never knew existed
Does IREM still exist?
Do they have emulator for IREM?
Lethal Thunder
Air Assault
without support for mame2003-plus :(
SNES mini here i come!
gunforce is like metal slug?
Bomberman was from Hudson Soft, not IREM
