Always love a kitty cameo! and yep, how does the end of the month always surprise us? LOL
I think you bring up such a good point about having ideas of what a certain language's literature is! I think reading more translated novels has helped me break that habit but it definitely still crops up now and then!
regarding The Office of Gardens and Ponds, the synopsis sounds really intriguing but I feel like sex can be very overused as an overarching theme, especially in more "serious" fiction, so not sure how I'd feel about that one!

He's been super needy these days, always following me around!
I think if you're not a fan of the way men tend to write female sexuality and the motifs of sex as something like overly meaningful then you might want to avoid this book... it gets a bit odd here and there when dreams/reality collide with the theme of sex and of course the carp that are so prevalent in this story..... hahahaha.

I love your video intros. One of my goals for 2020 is to read more Francophone books. Thank you for the reviews!

The Office of Gardens and Ponds has been on my radar for a while. I used to think I preferred French literature above other translated fiction because I found the prose somewhat concise, but I hadn't really read enough to make that conclusion. I should read more work in translation. It's an area of literature I don't consciously avoid, but I don't gravitate towards.

The cover alone for The Office of Gardens and Ponds is enough to make anyone want to read it I'm sure! Hahaha, it's definitely worth it if you do enjoy historical fiction!
Well you know where to turn if you do want to check out more translated fiction ;)

I’m not au fait with francophone literature (see what I did there?) but I love your shirt 😉
