Are you referring to the Headmasters and Power/Godmasters? It is similar to it, but it is also different. The idea here is that the humans transform into the Cybertronian Transtectors. Whereas in Voltron and Power Rangers, they just control the machines. By the end of "Super God Masterforce", a part of the soul of each human is taken and altered into a Spark that brings the Transtector to life like all other Transformers.
