- In today's video, I make DIY fish traps out of giant bottles! I placed the traps in a new tiny creek and was surprised at all the fish I caught, platys, swordtails, plecos, crawfish, and an unknown fish that looks like a freshwater stingray, then I brought them all back to my house to keep as pets!

Well time to find out what this thing is! Comment if you know🤔 Hope you all enjoyed this one!
It is called a stingray pleco!
Hillstream loach. Not reticulated. Im breeding them UK.
It's A Butterfly Loach..They Are Great Tank Cleaners.
Hillstream loach
its a Hillstream loach
The stingray looking thing is a Reticulated Hillstream Loach. i have one in my planted tank
It will always be a stingray in my heart :(
@@BassFishingProductions It’s a Reticulated Hillstream Loach also known as “stingray”
@@BassFishingProductions most freshwater stingrays are much bigger than those little loaches lol
More like butterfly loach (Beaufortia kweichowensis) which doesn't have any pattern just like the one caught by Bobby.
Looks like a hillstream loach. They require fast-moving water
Hillstream Loach! Also commonly sold as "Stingray Pleco", so not inherently wrong to call it a stingray.
THXX
ລ“
Where on earth is it called a pleco or stingray lol that place shouldn’t sell fish if they call them pleco or stingrays lol
Also known as Borneo sucker!
Yes it is wrong! People can't just make up what things are to sell them.
You know whats cool about your videos Bobby.....you never advertise or take time away trying to sell something with a code!! Just straight exploring, fishing, and fish pond stuff, you're the man!
ya but just think what he can do with the sponsored money because they pay thousands per episode
That's exactly what I like about him, he's just cool
Man I agree
I would rather him be able to make a good living, so he can make videos full-time. I may not always want to live with his parents.
Yes!!
Thank you for making these videos. They are extremely entertaining, interesting, and informative and you do a wonderful job narrating them. Your enthusiasm is infectious and you keep it classy (no foul language). I also like how you encourage your followers to participate. Kids and people of all ages will love this.
You realize this is staged
@@Mr.aquarenahi😊
No one gonna talk about the Chevrolet behind him
Hillstream Loach, pretty common in the aquarium hobby. I have one in my tank now.
They are awesome, great catch!
They aren't because it needs a lot of oxygen. The fast moving stream is perfect for it though.
@@slewone4905 id say they are. A fish needing a certain kinda living requirement doesn’t mean they’re not awesome. A good aquarium needs oxygen and some flow imo anyways. They aren’t all that different from most common aquarium fish.
@@slewone4905 Then you build a river style aquarium.
@@slewone4905 Exactly. Cool faster flowing water holds more oxygen too. Which HSLs need to thrive.
That's why he's up at the surface in the hotter cichlid tank.
Gas exchange occurs at the surface, so he's up there trying to get the oxygen he needs.
The hailstorm loach requires fast moving water and are delicate fish so it may not do well in that tank. I would recommend settings up a planted tank with peaceful fish and good flow for it.
And one more thing, the cichlids will most certainly eat him. Plecos were fine because they are armoured catfish so most fish avoid them but the hailstorm loach is a soft bodied fish and it's not recommended to put it with aggressive fish like cichlids
I have one. They do well in most well aerated conditions. I have a 20 gallon with a betta and khuli and cory and danio and white clouds and they thrive
Your videos are so much fun to watch. I love how excited you get!
That’s crazy that a hillstream loach was in that canal. The high flow area makes sense but surviving in that temp water is an awesome find. Probably a pet smart drop, they are known for “walking on land” but the possibility of survival in the wild in Florida is super low. You lucked out with this spot!
I bet it was planted for video. Half of these fish he posted doesn't survive in Florida.
@@calallen8786 I've been thinking the same, he just get's too lucky. Always just gets a single one of the odd species, never goes back, even though it would be the coolest spot. Same with Albinos, they should just get eaten in nature, yet he sometimes gets a bunch of them...
You... You have managed to get my interest in fishkeeping to return. I had actually forgotten how cool come fish and aquatic animals could be. Before now I only had my turtle. Now I'm breeding guppies and wanting to breed other type of fish. Ack. I forgot how fun it was to have fish...
Now I just need to get over that fear of a fish drawing blood, then I might be able to touch them.
Reticulated Loch Commonly called Hillstream Loch in the aquarium hobby. Originally found in tropical regions of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Commonly found in shallow riffles, river rapids, and slower-moving stream pools in between. Their native habitat tends to have lots of rocks and is sparser in vegetation. They grow between 2.5" and 3". Hillstream Loches are omnivores and grazers. In the wild, they consume small aquatic crustaceans that live at the river bottom, algae, and small organisms living on underwater surfaces. They will feed on algae and biofilm in your tank. They also like to eat most kinds of live foods, such as insect larvae, tubifex, daphnia, and frozen or live brine shrimp. They will also eat fish flakes or pellets, as well as algae wafers. Hillstream Loches are a great alternative to Plecos.
bro just copied and pasted the whole dictionary definition
Ikr
You could have put one of the traps were the pipes were the water was flowing😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
And the other unknown fish is a Madagascar rainbow fish 😊 have a great day
You should make a specified tank for stuff you catch together since they’ve been near each other and add real plants that come from the places
Another dope video!! Please do an aquarium with only the micro fish you catch. Would be cool to follow them evolve. Hope you go back to that place with all of your traps!!
I've never heard of anyone catching a freshwater ray. That's awesome
Awesome catch. Keep on keeping on.
I love your videos, your the only guy that makes fish videos and not cringe!
Not true but I do like his Channel
it's so fun to fish in nature and get something new
Your pretty gullible if you think he really catches some of these fish in his traps. Some can be caught in Florida but the swordtails platies and hillstream loach aren't in that canal
Green Lantern Plattys! Some sort of Hill Stream Loach. Cough, I mean STING RAY! (Also, they don't get to be more than a couple inches)
Your bottle traps drill 1/4 inch holes in the bottom and a couple in the side to let the air out it will stay on the bottom. You can make the slot a little bigger in the cap to make the entrance hole a little smaller if needed that way you 2 different size entrances.
"Hillstream loach" is what that thing is called, it's pretty much a stingray though, I'd call it a stingray too if I saw it.
Yup, like the group says, "Hillstream Loach" - not at all a stingray. They come from cool water streams in China. I have two in my tank. They are fantastic at keeping the glass clean. Better than Ottos or anything else that I ever had on cleaning glass. They are a bit more expensive and harder to find. I checked out a half dozen LFS in my area and only found two all year. They can breed in captivity, if you can find enough. The one in the video looks full grown.
Gotta get Tanner Serpa to design some tanks for your beautiful fish,. Love you.
What a great addition to the pond!
It’s called a hillstream loach. Great little algae eater
The freshwater "stingray" is definitely a hillstream loach. They are native in China and live in high flow high oxygen streams on hillsides. In fact, most of the fish that you showed found in that area do not belong there. Someone dumped their fish tank, or it is a common dumping ground.
Or he bought the fish and put them in the trap
You should make a video on all your wild caught exotic fish in sure we would all love a recap
The Blue Plates are also common in the pet trade. I have some right now in my tank. It is great the you caught both male and female Blue Plates.
the quality of the video is ‘chefs kisses’
You gotta keep us updated on its growth
Me watching all of your videos you changed my life
Ребята вы лучшие!Подписалась.
I like his personality so much he’s so funny he always get me when he say what the heck is that
Hillstream loaches like fast water flow so where you found it makes sense. It's like it's natural habitat. They use that suction to hold onto rocks in fast flowing streams. Definitely non-native. They are from South East Asia.
I think he planted them there
Dang that creek is loaded with aquarium fish
That looks awesome as a mini aquarium as is. Awesome find!!
Great video I wish I lived in Florida and get some free fish like that I have 11 big tanks, and I love community fish so much, I love what you do I watch your videos all the time.
Awesome catch!!! A hill stream loach in the wild...wish I lived over there. Keep'em coming
In our area in Raleigh go to falls lake and you an catch snails up to five inches
Not from the wild I think he put them there for this video
That hillstream loach has to have a power head or some other way to make the water in the tank move. They sit still a lot and rely on that water movement like a stream in order to push water through their gills. Probably why he kept coming to the top
that indeed was cool!! I wonder about the pond here at my family home. when I was a kid I saw betta fish. I then released a big red ear slider into it and to this day I still see him. Unless all the houses around let their fish and turtles go into over the years too. (Yeah I grew up here and just came back to live at family home, now as older adult.)
I think Stingrey love you because he/she is looking at you I like you said Stingray move!!!😂
Wat you caught is a butterfly loach (Beaufortia kweichowensis) which is native to Asia. There are other loach species have different pattern on them.
You also got what looks like to be a blackstripe topminnow which is native to the US waters.
A Stringray Plecostomus! They Are Pretty Cute , But They Do Have Multiple Names
Incredible haul today but let's talk about the water in that gorgeous cichlid tank. Wow!
That bowl looked soo cool - just needed some sand and plants - but then go and put those tiny fish into a large pond with your huge fish - I'd be scared they would be eaten!!!
Haven’t seen any comments ; so the sliver fish with black line and red on tail looks like a Black Line Rasbora. The platys are Turquoise Platys.
And I’m honestly surprised at the Hillstream Loach those are pretty hard to keep in aquariums.
Use a lighter to heat up the hook and it should slip through the plastic easier. Might have to heat it up a couple times to melt the hole through both walls of plastic
You have inspired me to get back into aquariums. Years ago I had 2. A 55gal fresh, and a 20gal fresh. I always buy from a trusted dealer, near my house, but watching you trap fish in small waterways, I just find so sick. I'm going to try here in South Louisiana.
Have u had any luck in south Louisiana
I know, right? I use to have a 55, a 33, and 3 20's. Man I miss them... sigh.
You should have a tropical aquarium fish. Who the hell are you gonna appreciate some of these fish in a koi pond?! Make a 20 gallon fish tank with all these pretty fish, like the platties, sail fin mollies, guramis, swordtails and other small fish you’ve caught. You just said how awesome they look in that bowl, now imagine a bigger aquarium. Common sense, bro.
Hey BFP I got one of those Coca-Cola piggybanks in the year 2000 and I still got it but I think it's cool how u made a fish trap 👌👌👌
I like your videos because 9/10 times you want to take home the fish i realy like that and your videos are always fun and long 15/20 inutes
You found my snake
You caught the whole pet store
That is a Hillstream Loach. It's not a stingray but it is super cool. I wanted to buy a couple of those but they were pretty expensive. What a great catch to get it for free 😀
that little sting ray is pretty cool you should make whole tank for mini fish like baby plekos baby crawfish tiny pufferfish and that tiny little sting ray thing and maybe some tiny turtles
" IT LOOKS LIKE A-A FRICKIN STINGRAY *moan* "
Sus
If you heat the hooks with a lighter (hold them with a plier) its easy to get them through the plastic x)!
Hey what website did you use to find your first gouramis? I remember you mentioning it, and I really like your videos so I want to try to catch some fish on my vacation to Florida this year, thank you for the great content!
Strange but true, the Oscar is a tasty fish. Pleco soup is good too.
The amount of people who think that these are not staged is amazing I seriously hope the fish that you plant in these trap none of them have escaped
One of the best videos yet!
I love fishing!!!🦞
Brilliant rasbora, hillstream loach, green lantern platy, green swordtail. Tetra you saw I’m slow mo swimming looked like it may have been an emperor tetra
Also, the hillstream loach comes from cool water with very high dissolved oxygen levels. In tropical environments without a lot of oxygenation they tend to have a shorter lifespan. Hopefully since it was wild caught it has a better survival rate in warmer water
That stingray like fish is a species of river loach. Regardless, they're an awesome looking fish!
G'day love the vidios going back through yr old vidio library it's cool to see how yrve grow n matured into what u are now n they are very entertaining u should be proud
It's a hillstream loach, They like fast moving water but don't require it and they're just fine in warm water. They do very well in planted tanks.
Bobby was very happy to see that stingray
😂🤣😂”That’s money”. They’re piggy banks. FYI: Rob needs to make some of those. Please tell him about those bottles.
You demanding that the little loach must be a stingray was so fucking funny to me for some reason.
Also the "I'm pretty sure it's a blue tetra because it's blue and it's a tetra"
That is a hillstream loach they do best when kept in groups of 3-4 in a 50-gallon tank.
There’s also a small black colored fish that swam by when you slowed it down! It was in the left bottom corner!
I believe the fish with the red in their fins are fully grown White Cloud Mountain minnows.
You should make a tank in that 20 gallon you found in the trash that replicate the stream environment sand bottom high current and like 4 or 5 big rocks with a few little ones and cant forget the plants.
What you got is a Hillstream Loach in your fish trap. I have had them before. You can get the in most pet store. This species is from South and East Asia.
I lived in Florida like 45 years ago and even then the canals were packed with fish.
4:03 yo that red black stripped camaro behind him I just love camaros
You caught a Neon Blue Wagtail Platy and a butterfly loach.
One of the plecos looked like a clown pleco.
You can 100% tell that pet store is dumping into the canal. Pretty typical. If there's nowhere to throw their unwanted animals, they end up in the dumpsters, hence why people are often digging around in their dumpsters for free animals.
I think this fish tank is better than the big one in the newer video. Much easier to see well.
It's a hillstream loach ❤️. It's a fresh water loach. Peaceful suckerfish
They stay in areas with high flow and only grow 4 inches max. I keep them and they're lovely if u want something a little less aggressive then the pleco.
I'm a reptile person but I'm obsessed with your vids
Looks like a flounder to me bbut I know they get big. God bless!
What an amazing collection you have caught there including Blue Wagtail Platies.
that’s a male butterfly hillstream loach! :)
I love how you collect fish and try to keep them in good habitat... Keep them in proper planted tanks you will not regret it...
"Oohhh dalmation" sound exactly like the jellyfish launcher in your truck meme 🤣
It looks exactly like a stingray🐟🐠
Pretty sure those two small fish with a black stripe and red fins are Pencil fish!!! Just insane to see them in Florida
1:35 bumblebee is behind you on your back side in other colour 😎
your little stinger ray is a spotted sucker fish glad you kept the swordtails love them
Idk what it is but it is sure really cool Nice video chat keep up the work
Platties are the color I like. Hard to find these days
13:02 brilliant rasboras peaceful schooling fish
Love❤ from🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 india
Amazing😍👍
PetSmart franchisers bout to put a hit on dis man
Keep up the good work you are fun to watch, God Bless Love Jesus Christ Forever
No, I actually have those. They are basically freshwater singers but they’re cleaning fish to.
That pet place is 100% dumping fish lol. That literally is the perfect environment for a hillstream loach. Bunch of ottos and swordtails
One of the baby Playcos are going crazy
