I don't think you're in the wrong. If he was trying to change lanes, then he needs to yield the right of way to whoever is there then he can move when it's clear.

I don't think you were in the wrong there, he moved over pretty fast. Intentional swerving and trying to hit a bike is attempted murder in some states. People don't realize that.
Thanks, I agree. It's sort of a gray-area as to who got there first, but me having to brake hard makes me feel like he was in the wrong. Wouldn't have hurt him to wait for me to pass. It's a weird right-sided merge area anyway so the whole thing is up in the air.
Uh. You could of just slowed down and let him merge. Then continue happily on. Instead you try to be first and cry when he beat you to the lane change which he did have the turn signal on for. So it wasn't a blind lane change.
Yeah man, that's why I prefaced it with "I *may* have been in the wrong here but..." Also it doesn't look like it, but I had to brake pretty hard, and in my opinion if I have to brake hard, then I'm arguably NOT in the wrong.
