I've had the mini cocktail for about five years and it's great! The bass drum is the weak link though. I was playing a duo at an outdoor event. A guy came up and gave us a tip and told me to use it to buy a bass drum! After that I put a trigger on the bass drum and used my yamaha Dtx pro module. Much better!
Oh man, absolutely. It’s such a cool little kit. Some of the reviews I read people said the sounds aren’t huge. Obviously I’m not gonna bring this to a rock gig 😆 for what it is, it’s great
To follow up, I would say that 14" kick is surprisingly deep (Wide, for a 14?), and it may be due to the room, and natural ambience of the recording. Great sound, I think!
yes!!! :) tune them up higher for more tune. they are extremely sensitive tuning . the open bass drum sound ...thats good when jamming with others to cut through as the unmiked thud is useless from medium to louder volume applications with electric guitars and bass. i love these drums too :) oh there is a definite physical re-adjustment from these to a standard kit setup but i find a slight posture adjustment will allow for transition between the 2 setups. cheers :)
Good input! I haven’t played with anybody yet just solo with these so that’s good to know. They’re definitely a really little fun set to play on solo though!!

Good advice! Appreciate that 🙌🏽
you could get a 14" mesh head, a trigger, and use the kicks in an Alesis sample pad 4
Dude., these are so freakin neat LOL. They sound and look fun to play... great tones!

Room I recorded it has a high ceiling, so that could have something to do with it!
I thought is a 16 not 14.
Iam wrong?
@@claudiopinto8327the regular cocktail jam kit has a 16” kick, but the cocktail mini is 14”

You might want to try a 14” Aquarian Super Kick I on the bass drum.
Wow, I’d didn’t know they made one. Good recommendation. Thanks!
