Luke this was a great video and I learned today a quicker and more efficient method to clean a dash and the steering wheel. Thank you for taking the time to help detailers be better, faster and to learn from your mistakes. Happy Holidays from Round Rock Texas

On another video i saw you mentioned not to steam the area behind the steering wheel not fog up the speedo lens. How do you decide when and when not to use steam?

decent technique for sure. a little time consuming but effective.
if I HAVE to rush I just go front to back with heavy cleaner just getting the bad stains then hit everything with dressing - works fast and you get a decent result although I would never do my own car that way lol

Hey, what do I use if I don't have the budget for an air compressor. Would I just use the detail brushes instead to get into the cracks and crevices?

This is great info. Did I hear correctly? You dilute Xpress 5:1? I currently use it at 1:1. Does 5:1 affect the cleaning power at all?

      1:1 is pretty strong.

It’s interesting because I use it at 1:1 and it’s still not strong enough sometimes for certain vehicles

I've always used it 1:1. Now I'm kind of excited to get even more out of the gallons, lol.

you might need more aggressive brushes for the surfaces you are trying to clean. Textured leather for example will commonly seem hard to clean but really alot of times its harder than people think to get into those crevices of the texturing. I use colourlock leather cleaning brushes (wooden ones without handle) for this sort of thing. They balance aggresive & not damaging surfaces in the interior very well.
The diameter of the bristles in a brush must be smaller than the crevice it is attempting to clean, otherwise the bristle won't be able to get into the crevice. The bristles also need to be stiff enough to push into the crevice rather than kinda of folding over as you try to push the bristles into the crevice. Most people think brushes are all the same & don't understand bristle thickness.
Hope that helps. There is alot more advanced technique out there to learn than this guy shares. Hes kinda a surface level detailer imo not someone pushing to use the best techniques & advance their skills to get better results. More of a guy to get paid cleaning regular peoples cars. Just different approaches. @@jesseviers487

jfc a scouring pad on the steering wheel - this guys techniques are just too aggressive to not affect longevity of surfaces. "Non-abrasive scrubbing pad" is a phrase that does not make logical sense. That scrubbing pad is non-scratching on KITCHEN DISHES not a coated leather surface that your hands can degrade. Thats becuase kitchen dishes are made of materials with higher hardness values (mohs hardness scale) that the scouring pad itself. The steering wheel is not a material that has a hardnesss higher than the scouring pad.
Its like saying steel wool won't damage a t-shirt. Sure, the first time you wipe a spot on the shirt it won't look different. But after enough wiping in that spot the steel wool is going to start wearing away the shirt.
