Always been my motto for doing music with no 3rd verse needed...people don’t have an attention spans that long and you lose their interest. That’s been the demise of rappers having long songs that just drag it out! Like GZA mentioned make the beat short and lyrics twice as strong!
Rob Daniels yeah but for those of us who still have decent or reasonable attention spans, 2 min songs end way too quickly. maybe that might be cool for a party song or something, but like some real lyrical, bar heavy song, a third verse is appreciated from me.
c no doubt man! I appreciate that! ✊🏽 Im attentive to artist if they have substance in their songs and intellect....a song I could rewind and catch something I missed because I was caught off guard. That’s just me though. Also depends on who you like as an artist. There’s albums I can listen to in it’s entirety front to back without a skip and I’ve listened to albums that are cool but won’t make ya playlist because not every song had consistency. The difference with what Earl has done with his music now compared to other artist is its fitting for concert shows and time management, sort of a compilation of 20 songs while other artist might need to cut a 3-4 min song down to maybe one verse and spin into the next song, especially if they have many albums you’re only gonna only hear a few bangers they had
I don’t think that’s what he means, he’s not talking about literally searching for it. He’s talking about suggestions based on the way you use your phone. On iOS for example if you swipe down on the main menu it shows you Siri suggestions. These are based on your time/location and which apps you use the most in those situations.
It’s incredible to see the 2 minute attention span theory in real time. Not being mean I’m just saying you can see the conversation run dry after she stops talking about Motown and how music can go on repeat but we get bored of the same information after 2-3 minutes so loops become more interesting than the lyrics. *Incoming long rant* I can see what he’s trying to say about smartphones and computers being more aggressive. In that you’re only 11, but computers have already mapped out your interests and personality, so they push more of the same things you like and it’s harder to explore or stumble across other great music without the hassle of being forced the same things you already know. For example I like some Drake songs, but I don’t want to hear every song he’s ever made. Then it stems into Nicki Minaj, that stems into cardi b, which stems into migos, which then stems into lil pump and so on and so forth. You can’t like something or search something without it branching off into other stuff related to what you were kinda interested in for a hot second.
@@homeofnobles Some Rap Songs was okay, can you agree his music sounds more psychedelic/experimental now? I miss his album Earl and Doris. His music now sounds like he's on acid.
@@Joeindimension well you gotta realize that he put out Doris as a teenager...he's 25 now and has obviously went through more shit in his life. I have also tended to like more obscure music the older I get so I'm not surprised that earl has went into this direction. also, he was clearly an MF DOOM fan at a young age so it makes sense. it just means that you yourself may or may not acquire the taste.
