That is what I love about this channel its not just all about flashy sport bikes someone somewhere will be looking for a GS500F and this video will make their day
I bought a GS500fk4 in 2004 brand new. I rode that bike balls-to-the-wall, I could rev it up to 9k through every gear keeping up with my 600cc friends and have a great time in the process, I rode it up and down the Carolina coast and through the rural hills of Kentucky, I used it for work travel, and tons of pleasure rides. It would consistently get more than 60mpg. I put almost 30,000 miles on it before a top-end engine rebuild, after the rebuild it ran good as new, I regularly changed the oil, one set of new tires, one new chain, and super simple basic maintenance. It was cheap to own total original purchase price of $5,250 eventually I had kids so I sold it but I miss it every nice weather day. It was a great bike had 38k on it when I sold it to someone who didn't have their motorcycle endorsement, that was the saddest ride I ever had on it. It is still running to this day.
hi ken ive got a 2004 f and its my second bike after a 250 and i quite like it. one thing i love is the huge 20 litre tank and not having to fill up so frequently. i went one tooth bigger on the front cog to drop the revs a little 👍
I love 500s and especially this 500 in general because it has more than enough power for someone who has been riding a 250 for a season or 2 and deciding it's time to step it up so you can get out of tight spots EASILY unlike a 250 (as all of you know :D) and it's still fairly forgiving if you mess around.
"Ride it cross country" I in fact did that on one of these. Did great! Only issue I had was fuel starvation while going over 130kph for over an hour. The main vacuum petcock simply needed a breath to catch up. The suspension could also use some stiffening.
Hi, I have one of this bike here in Brazil but it's a naked model 2009, basically it's the same bike that you show in this video....I love riding it! Thanks guys for sharing this video!
the GS 500 bulletproof little bikes. passed uk bike test on one off these. they use a lot of these at riding schools here . and despatch riders use em ere
Maybe the best bike to start off. I own a 125cc Suzuki and seriously thinking of getting a GS500F when I upgrade my license as a first "big" bike to learn on. Cheers from Greece!
First of All, 500 is not a big bike by any stretch of imagination But from a125cc I can see why you think it’s so big and powerful I ride an 01 bandit 1200 (1,157cc)
The 500's are a perfect step up from a 250. Like riding but you're not fully committed yet because you know how fast these sport bikes get within the blink of an eye....they have enough power to get into a tight spot while still remaining forgiving.
Wow, nice looking machine! I see how it resembles my rare in the United States, - 2008 Suzuki GSX650F. If I didn't grow up riding and racing 80cc-500cc dirtbikes from age 11 until I sold my last KX500 dirtbike in 2015, I would have started off with a 400-500cc motorcycle as my first bike, instead of my current 531 pound -(wet), GSX650F as my first motorcycle. It's quick, but it's no 9-10 second sportbike obviously. It does 0-60 in 3.7 and runs the 1/4 mile in 11.94 @ 110.1 and has a governed top speed of 135 mph. I've ridden over 5,000 miles on my GSX650F already, and I've had no problems or issues. Despite what some may think... Growing up riding dirtbikes absolutely helps you transition and ride your first motorcycle better in every way. My brother with about the same dirtbike experience as I, said screw it, and bought a modified 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 as his first motorcycle. Stock, his bike does 0-60 in under 3 seconds, and it runs the 1/4 mile in 10.66 @ 124+... Again, before the mods it currently has. Anyway, he's had this FZ for over a year, and he put over 10k trouble & accident free miles on it! Neither of us have dropped our bikes, (knock on wood). We go to the mountains and rip around with our group of sportbikers almost every weekend. Not bad for our first ever motorcycles! We're not overconfident either... We know our luck can change in a flash. We take our riding very seriously. We respect our machines. Anyway, so sorry for the super long comment. I will subscribe after this comment. Keep up the good work guys!
Nice! I just bought a 2007 model with 1300 miles on it. Same colour as this one. They do seem to be cursed with dropping them lol. I cracked the fairing on mine by trying to put it on the center stand on my gravel driveway. Won't try that again.
Would you guys have any interest in an 1999 Kawasaki KX60 comes with a 2002 parts bike. Runs phenomenal. Frame rails are super clean. Can definitely tell it’s been ridden but would make a great candidate for the museum. The Kx60 made more power cc for cc than the kx500 of the same era
I just got a 2001 gs500e and it's spitting fuel and oil into the intake on throttle then bogging down and dieing wont start after that for about 1 minute carbs are clean everything is hooked up properly compression and spark are good any ideas on what it could be
Would you say this is a good bike for beginners? I passed the MSF course (we were riding 125cc bikes) , I would go for a 250cc but I can’t find any in my price range in my area.
How aggressive is the sport type foot peg positioning on these bikes? My 1st bike was a cruiser with floor boards. I am thinking of getting a 2005 Suzuki GS500 but I am affraid my knees and back will be in pain after 30 minutes.
How long do these bike last I got the same one but a 2007 it has 19k miles runs pretty good with little noticeable issues some dude said they only last about 30k before needing a rebuild that true ?
This was my first street legal bike and I absolutely love it. Not too fast but not too slow to have fun on either. It's a 2 cylinder 500 so its significantly slower than a 4 cylinder 600.
in my opinion it's up to you if you are responsible, and don't panic when operating machines. put yourself in a large parking lot with no posts if possible and practice stop and go and u-turns, then get up to speed and practice braking harder and faster. Get to know the machine and how it operates, kinda like driving an unfamiliar car, everything is slightly different in the way it feels.
I used to have one it was fucked though bent forks rebuilt title half ass respray but I fell in love with the bike I dont know maybe cause it was my first bike idk but I regret selling it but it was just a huge paper weight cause I couldn't legally ride it so I sold it
How do you see the fuel indicator ?? im thinking of buying one but there is no fuel indicator on the bike, so how the hell can i ride it when im at any time can run out ?? btw new biker, just got my license yesterday, dont judge me :D
I've got one of these, its a sad piece of shit. I bought it in a hurry as my main commuter was off getting serviced and I couldn't bring myself to use a car to go to work. That was just to much to contemplate. So yes much much better than a car, but still a sad sack of an excuse for a motorcycle. Gutless, poor brakes, soggy suspension, reliable as all hell, poorly finished with fading of the paint and decals. The best of spanish motorcycle construction. Still better than using the car!

Hey, here I go! :D
I am looking for a GS500F, yes :)
Your wisdom strikes again
lol aka me, hope to get one tomorrow morning! NJ here
Just re-discovered this video. Yes, I was seraching for a GS500F and I bought one. Been loving it ever since :)
As a 76 year old biker, this bike is light and very easy to handle! One of the best bikes I've had in 60 years of biking 😀
Man, thats good to hear. Age doesnt matter if you are healthy.

Exactly why im here
Suzuki has some of the smoothest riding bikes I've ever been on
Hope to see another Katana 750 or 600 roll through. Quick and comfortable. Super reliable!
Lol they just released brand new 2020 katana.
Ya, you should try a SV650, or even smoother DL 650 V-strom, i love mine. that sweet lil 650 L twin is something special for sure .
@@passdadutch88 yeah, it is basicly an old gsxr detuned. but it looks sweet.
John-Erik johansson no it’s not

I got this bike for my first bike Last year and i cant imagine a better bike for beginners!
This is a great bike! Have one since 2006. After years in garage the lady will return fully restored tomorrow.

Great simple low maintenance bike. Comfortable
I love my bone stock 2005 GSXR-1000 always keeping her!
First bike I owned. It hated running cold but it once warmed up was a blast to ride. Very light and got great mileage if I wanted it to.
The 500's are a perfect step up from a 250. Like riding but you're not fully committed yet because you know how fast these sport bikes get within the blink of an eye....they have enough power to get into a tight spot while still remaining forgiving.
Love tha bike you can't go wrong with Suzuki
thx for not doing a gopro lazy review! great channel!
Funny this shows up. I just saw a guy on this exact bike last night on my way home from work.
I love riding sport bikes. Nice content!!
Great bike! Good comparison to the 125 2t...i had the same feeling riding it. Fast enough and fun! Sounds great even when stock.
Allways loved the
"ROYAL METALIC CANDY BLUE" 😎
Just bought a 2006 gs500f. Plenty of fun but makes me miss my katana.

Same
@@dylancarter318 Great bike to get some street chops on though.
great looking machine thx guys
I got one of these it's my first bike and boy is it fun
Love the GS500.
I rode a 1999 gs500e the naked version and averaged over 50mpg!
I was always under the impression that the fairing models are oil cooled. My naked version is air cooled
Both oil and air cooled, for the F version :)
Smooth lil bike she really clean kap💪😎🍻

Great video. Thanks for the information.
Fun fun fun.

Fantastic bikes.
im trying to buy one off my friend but dont run just cranks what maybe some things to check first other then battery an fuel
That's really nice sport bike, sounds mean. 😎
"Lets do a drive-by" Thats something you should never say to the police lol.
I'd Paint That Tail Section to Match The Rest of The Bike.
That's a brand new bike

Rt180 and now this? Come on kaplan...this is america..not a circus😂😜💪✌
I just bought this same exact bike today for $300.
It just needs the carbs cleaned up and re-installed. So I was told anyway ...
Would you say this is a good bike for beginners? I passed the MSF course (we were riding 125cc bikes) , I would go for a 250cc but I can’t find any in my price range in my area.
Beautiful bike . Sad these bikes get so abused
2007 for sale for 1,700 it’s clean without stickers these colors 12,000miles

You mentioned how much you guys spent on the bike but you didn't mention how much you I tend to sell it for.
Why can't I look as cool as this guy... 😢 I would join a gym but I wouldn't know Wtf to do when I got there.
Good starter bike? Or should I start on a 250?
Its a good bike but smaller and safer is better
@@KaplanCycles that’s what I’m thinking, just can’t find any good deals on 250s in my area

Is it suitable for A2 category ?? 35KW or 47,8 hp is the limit.Thanks a lot !!
In my country they can be restricted to fit A2 even it has couples hp over the limit.
search for gs 500 U
Restricted to 34 hp
I dont know much about this 500. Whats the top speed? And what does it reach in 1st gear? 120mph, 50 mph?
Not sure about top speed in first but it'll do 115-120 mph in a tail wind.
Gears aren't very long. Probabaly 20-30 in first gear I'm usually shifting by then on mine.
I always figured Wolverine was more of a Harley guy

just picked up the regular version of this bike for 600 bucks

How tall are you?
How do you see the fuel indicator ?? im thinking of buying one but there is no fuel indicator on the bike, so how the hell can i ride it when im at any time can run out ?? btw new biker, just got my license yesterday, dont judge me :D
You can just open the tank and look and see how much is left. Use the trip odometer to keep track of how far you've gone.
Does anyone speak American and can translate what that man just said?
🏍️🏍️🏍️
I heard him say it's like a shrunk gsxr1000. I'm sorry to disagree but it's nothing like a Gixxer more like a shrunk katana 750 without an inline 4 .
i know its all tuned and stuff but i dont love the exhaust sound. and i like burbles :( nice bike either way

Both lol
Too much money put into it.. but it's a reliable good beginner.
LOL 😂 slow money don’t make no money. LOL this is not a baby gsxr. Just a gs-f.
