Coming from Southport… I can remember the 507’s being introduced as a young child! Later in life I worked for a year (shortly before I moved to Leeds) in Bootle and had to commute daily on the 507’s which back in 1995 still had their original 3 + 2 seating configuration with almost school like plastic chairs with a little bit of a cushion on them - they were very cosy in rush hour!! 🙄 I looking forward to the 777’s arriving on the Southport line to try them out when I travel back from Leeds via Liverpool to see my folks!
brilliant fleet review of Merseyrail the 777s are awesome & very smooth i live them & the PEPS are great but i will miss them but sadley new trains are needed
travelled with Merseyrail for the first time last month all the way from Chester to lime street and back on my way to and from wigan north western, 777 both ways and they are brilliant, seats are a bit hard but its not like they do particularly long journeys anyway and both units were clean tidy, spacious and bright interiors, the ramp is interesting as it seems to stop the doors from closing when pressure is on it which is a cool feature, as is the standard with Stadler units the ride quality is good and they go like the clappers, they do seem to bounce slightly when stopping but that may be due to the lack of weight, either way they are a damn sight nicer than the 331s i took from Lime street to wigan and back, this is what a modern metro train should be and CAF could learn a thing or two about suspension and noise levels

I do like the new Merseyrail Class 777 Metro units that Stadler have manufactured to replace the Class 507 and Class 508. They do look really nice.
