Sue White is the most insanely captivating character ever. This brilliant actress inhabits the scary crazy role so thoroughly, that she becomes a mad witchy force for chaos, and remains locked in place until she exits the frame.
They both have minds like childeren, so it makes sence in a way, as grownups tend to make things complicated. They're just riding; as you so perfectly put it, the bizarre wave of complete madness..
Am I the only one that hates Caroline for playing with FOUR mens hearts while she knows she only wants one. Poor Guy, poor Martin, poor spaghetti man. But poor Guy the most.
As a writer myself i ask people to keep something in mind: endings are inherently unsatisfactory. In our own lives we almost never have neat endings that makes sense, human life just isnt like that. So we long for stories to have endings that feel fully realized. But the longing can never really be met, never fully be satisfied. It's a basic philosophical and artistic thing. As JL Borges wrote: "Literature can be defined by the sense of the imminence of a revelation which does not in fact occur." Or to put it another way (and save anyone the trouble of making themselves look like an ejjit by calling this point pretentious): yo! yo!
I guess that depends on the story you’re going for. Whether it’s a fantasy with an idealized resolution or something of greater complexity. Bearing in mind that entertainment is often meant to be an escape from reality.
Hmmm. The 5th and final season/series of Episodes is due to begin on August 20th... Maybe there's a deal with Showtime/BBC2 to stagger these out to lead into that date? Either that or they've broken a wing or they're pining for the fjords or something like that..
Terrific ensemble cast, but the stand out is Julian Rhind Tutt, he makes all his scenes seem so effortless. As well as being practically the only straight man in the series, as the rest are off their marbles. It's not often a pasty faced ginger top, with a boyish face has such charisma and charm, but he has it to burn. Also, a quite poignant ending.
Yes, i felt in Love with him when i watched the filme Miranda (2002), and went to this series in order to see more of nos Lovely ginger pasty boyish face
I thought Dr Todd and Guy were better suited for each other. Caroline had a high school type crush on Mac, whereas she had an actual friendship/report with Guy.
I am hard pressed to take anything about this show seriously because it's obviously written for the absurd lulz, but -- actually I don't think either are suited well for her at this point in time. She needs to grow up and figure out what she actually wants instead of drifting from one to the other, whoever pushes or pulls at the time. Guy has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, *ugh*, what a egotistical lout the man is; it's quite beyond me that anyone would put up with him in real life. Caroline is not his friend, she has some base attraction to him like some people have to "bad boys", but marrying the twat? She'd have to be stupid, not just neurotic. Mac is still shell-shocked from the drama Holly put him through. He needs to recover from that, and then maybe he and Caroline could start over since they basically never really got anywhere much anyway. I do agree that she has a crush on him, but that's not limited to high school, that's how a lot of people start their relationships throughout their entire lives, based on nothing but some superficial feelings (that's why so many relationships fail, too). Mac is certainly objectively the better choice; he's not a selfish twat, he actually cares about people and tries to do the right thing. But the timing is all wrong.
@@whophdso this always confused me and I’ve only just caught this on what must be my 5th rewatch. Guy didn’t send the train, Mac did. At the station, Guy says he came to see what he would’ve got had he been more ginger I.E. to pathetically watch her go off into the sunset with Mac. When Mac didn’t turn up he then asked Caroline “Has he let you down again?” and it cuts to Mac checking his watch, knowing he was supposed to be at the station
Warning!! Slight spoiler if you haven't seen the Christmas Special!!!!! Although the Special brings a beautiful revival to the Mac & Caroline romance, my main problem with the ending of this episode is Caroline's behaviour when Mac doesn't show at the station. There's no indication she tries to call him to find out if something went wrong before turning to Guy. For all Caroline knew a case could've been brought in that required Mac's skill as a surgeon, he could've had an accident on his bike, etc. None of these seem to occur to her before she turns to Guy for some easy comfort. That is disgustingly shallow behaviour for someone who is supposed to love someone else. The Special brings an answer as to why Mac is holding his phone outside the hospital in the second to last shot we have of him, and it definitely wasn't because Caroline tried to call him. In the whole situation my sympathy is all for Mac who received the worst news imaginable and never received a single call from the woman he loved to check if he was all right when he didn't show.
@@SingRaduga this is never revealed as the explanation for her behaviour. Can you provide examples on how Mac had intentionally let her down before which would in some small way explain her callous dismissal for his non-arrival as her finally having had enough. From memory I can’t recall a single instance where you could point the finger and claim Mac was letting her down by his own choice after they started dating. By this I mean where he was in control of the situation. His memory loss cannot be held against him, nor his actions when he thinks he is establishing a relationship with his “son”. With the latter Caroline even encouraged him on this. The crazy antics by the Mac-obsessed nutjob also can’t be blamed on him as he never encouraged her. Incidentally, with regard to my issue with Caroline’s behaviour, I have several family members who are medical professionals and even though they’ve not shown up when we’ve made arrangements to meet up I never just dismiss them without a thought whenever it happens. I actually contact them to check if they’re ok. Why? Because I love them and want to know they’re safe. Thankfully, the times they don’t show is because they were held back by a case and not because of an accident. This is why I find Caroline’s behaviour so disappointing. She’s a surgeon herself and she never thought to call Mac to see if he was ok or even just running late. She just dismissed him without a second thought. When you love someone you don’t casually ignore their no-show for an important date.
@@GoldenAmethyst Hi, Ariana didn't say "intentionally". It was just her feeling - regardless intentional or not - it makes you feel down anyway... Maybe it was the moment when she realized that with Mac it have been always a drag and that being with Guy makes her feel good effortlessly... I find nothing strange about it... It was not a Mac's mistake. It simply didn't work out. Have a nice day :-)

Married to Jack Davenport aka Kames Norrington
With all the relationships in this series somehow its Alan Statham and Joanna Claw who have the most genuine bond, as completely bizarre as it is.

you know, i never expected to get so god damn emotional over this stupid series
I totally expected it. I mean, it has Stephen Mangan in it! What more do we need?
6:20 The most touching moment of all 16 episodes.
Why doesn't Harriet get back with Linden? Just for kicks, I'm sure he'd be up for it.
Britain: Thanks for producing shows that are hilarious & harrowing in equal parts.
Thank you so much for posting these. So great to rewatch this series. Looking forward to the next and final episodes.
Surprise! Lol
Does anyone have a youtube link for the christmas special? I've looked everywhere but I can't seem to find it.
Hey dead parrot, @deadparrot let's have the Christmas specials!
"Any particular reason at all?" 22:07
"Yeah, you're fat."
"Fair enough."
For those unaware, there is a final episode called the special which is not on UA-cam, and there is a new audio series on Audible
What about Karen?!
This is GOLD!
Mr. Parrot, please! If you can, if at all possible, the christmas special.. I must see it. Also, thanks for this. And thanks for Black Books too.
What a great series! Funny and whitty with a silly but charming story.
I love that Michelle literally just said her full name in Portuguese 😂
Karen's gotten over Martin then. I also like that Pip Torrens' character almost looks more upset than Mac.
"let me brush your teeth.". ....
They just continued the meeting like any other monday..
Bunch of crazy people 🤣nothing like British comedy!
I Love you britishes
How could they do that?! I am truly heartbroken.

@Camelot House what’s your point?
@Camelot House I’m not so stupid as to confuse fiction with reality. I was simply critiquing the flaws in the way a character is written.
Caroline didn't call him because he had let her down so many times that she wasn't surprised he did that again
