ATAG_FLare is right. At some point in the video, one can tell that you are def not using a wheel just from the steering's visuals. I was to point out that you have not done ACC full justice because one of its primary goal in their franchise is the cars' physics. Yes, others may suggest that sims like rfactor 2 & iracing have better physics but I think we can all agree that AC has always been at the top too..so I thought it was worth a shot in the video. But since you have clarified that you used a controller, then maybe it would not have been the best for this particular experiment. Anyway, nice video all in all.
PCars 2 still looks visually immersive. Sounds, physics, driving immersion however goes to ACC. If you want to race GT3 cars, ACC even beats Iracing in that category.
ACC is the best in terms of GT3 cars. IRacing GT3 cars are horrible. The more I get involved in the sim racing community the more IRacing slander I hear. Though ACC has its problems aswell..
I know this is a visual comparison which I'd say the two are fairly equal, but the physics in ACC are far superior and this is important when it comes to racing sims.
@@sqlevolicious The majority say R3E wins hands down in the sound department. I scored 98 of 100 sets of semi tones correctly in school which was the top score. I am far from needing a hearing aid as my hearing has been tested since then and is beyond that of the average person. Regardless, those who know how the real cars sound know ACC has got it wrong.
When looking through racing games of the past couple of years (haven't played one in many years), I found it quite surprising that older games sometimes look better than newer ones.
I think this depends of which wheel you are using. My FFB in ACC is currently horrible compared with Project Cars 2, although I haven't tweaked it in ACC since the BMW was released in early access .. I should get on that .. but the VR is still clunky, ugly, and performance stinks in ACC compared to PC2 which has almost no setup requirements, performs excellently and looks as good as VR can. The FFB in PC2 is still car dependant but most are really good these days.
@@RubberStig for me, (at least with various updates since 8 months ago) ACC gives less information through the wheel, you dont feel bumps or slides as much through the wheel, which, while being more realistic makes it harder to drive, whereas project cars 2 gives loads of info, you can feel slides and bumps very well, which is less realistic but easier to drive, so IMO is preference as to what you think is "better"
@@wiseboy4 Since that comment 8 months ago, I now have a DD wheel (Accuforce Pro v2), and the game that I enjoy the most is now ACC. You can tweak SimCommander (Accuforce software) to do do just about anything, and most likely someone has already done it, and you can download it directly from the software. PC2 is still great with the DD wheel, but as with previously the FFB still varies wildly from car to car. My opinion is leaning towards ACC, RaceRoom's recent improvements to both physics and FFB also make it a top tier sim. Project Cars 2 and AC (original) will always be the place where I go for street cars. ACC and RaceRoom for racecars.
It is now 2024. Whatever the differences are between both STEAM games, I still enjoy the racing in both of them on my PC computer. I don't do much online racing, but do race with the AI cars and find both games very entertaining. Who really cares what some of the graphic details are when we are racing around all the tracks at top speeds. At that point everything looks like a blur to try and make out car and track details. I also race both games in VR mode. Sound differences are a don't care item. So the cars in the games sound different, who really cares, we are in the games to race not admire how accurate the engine sounds are. If you are that fussy about sounds, then racing games are not for you - go to live real races. Summary, both games will be enjoyable, just have a good gaming computer and graphics card for the PC Take care.
What amazes me is the double edged sword of competition and innovation. Just imagine that there are completely separate development teams both working on creating the exact same assets! Could you imagine if we could gather a dream development team and use the best bits from every racing game in order to to produce the most bestest realest driving car game evar!! Of course, if there weren't separate teams always trying to outdo each other, then we'd probably still have sprites ;)
As an ac fan boy project cars 2 looks amazing even though its older its a legend of a sim racer. Ill get stuck back in to pc2 but im still loving my ac i havent got time for acc
I feel like ACC is a stripped down version of AC, sure it has some nicer gfx (no mods) but its literally one type of car class. I love all the street cars in AC! Plus SOL mod makes ACC redundant

By playing indycar in pc2, i noticed that dirt lanes form when you cut the tracks a bit multiple times. This makes the track a bit slippery which i find very realistic. Now we need an ACC player to compare
Currently playing PC2 on Series X (One X back compat in enhanced visuals mode) and honestly feels like a brand new game released in 2022, awesome gfx and sound.

Finally, someone said it. No mention about physics or even gameplay. PC2 is the overall loser here. When it comes to sim racing, graphics is extremely irrelevant.
If you want to know about car feel and ffb. This guy isn't qualified, look at his racing lines, road craft and braking zones. He's not done too much proper racing before. Jimmy Broadbent (Winner of the 3rd split, 2019 24hours of lemans, on iracing that is...) He says these are the best feeling GT3 Cars that he has raced in any SIM and that they all have their own characteristics that means that they handle believably and differently between the car models. He also says that his FFB needed to be adjusted a touch when he first got into it, but that it wasn't too much hassle.
Maxim Turbin if you want opinions from someone who actually races GT3 you should look no further than Nicki Thiim. You have to bear in mind Jimmer is not a GT racer, he priorities Prototypes with High Downforce.
Nothing beats the rain in Drive Club. I was so impressed with that feature! ALSO ... from what I can tell ACC wins in the sound department on the in-car view. They really nailed the sounds the car makes (not just engine).
The video is great but what really matters on most of the racing sims and why people buy them is the gameplay itself. How realistic it is to drive and how responsive the game can be compared to real life.

The interior sounds in acc were made with feedback from actual gt3 drivers. Sounds they commonly used as cues have been accurately replicated, like the cold brakes
Temporal filtering is meant to provide worse but ok quality, and more fps. For best graphics, you need to TURN OFF! or set FXAA(post-processing) or none if you use another AA(multiply pixel density like MSAA) and super sampling looks just better than MSAA, super sampling is just like render 4K resolution, downsample, display ar 2K resolution.
@@Nick930 Then, I think you should disable temporal filtering(aka checker board). it halves shader rendering, especially normal map texture of things like tile looks less bumpy surface. Also Interpolation is needed also, with high motion it could looks blurry. how temporal filtering works 1. Half your rendering resolution 2. MSAA your rendering 3. Interpolation shader due to lack of information of 4. Display
PC2 better graphics overall although ACC has a better interior ACC has better sounds although PC2 isn't bad either PC2 has more rich content but ACC is just starting out over all i would say Both are great
You can't blame ACC for the amount of content because it's a one series only (Just like the F1 games) And PC2 is a sim thats focused on more series from group a touring cars to F1
I just wished project cars would be a stand-alone game that they'd just keeping putting in additions/revisions to but I guess there's less money in it for them that way.

PCars 2 has been out for 2 years now & its obvious the game have been polished with lots of updates. ACC a freshly baked game that i can confirm will get better in few upcoming updates. I've been playing PCars 2 & AC on PC, overall i fancy AC more than PCars 2 because of how polished the game is & the modding community for AC is huge. I'll get my hands on ACC soon, maybe in few more upcoming updates. As for now im just gonna enjoy my AC.
PC2 graphics are terrible in some aspects and great in others! In some tracks some textures are missing!!! It's just jarring! But the car models and weather effects are pretty good.
Great video as always. Only one thing. In the rain you showed PC2 in traffic and ACC not. ACC looks way better when racing other cars in the rain. Not even mentioning physics because it's graphics comparison :P For a small team Kunos is they did great job in graphics department anyway. @edit: and there is damage in ACC. Clearly running default realism settings (which is completely miss by Kunos)
@1:12 "Mesh seems to be more distinct in PC2" - Did you mean it's not shaded correctly? There is a clear shadow from rear wing covering part of the mesh in ACC, while in PC2 radiator behind the mesh is simply glowing out of nowhere thus the mesh is more distinct. @4:52 of course you'll have more water splashes if you have tons of cars in front of you compared to just one in ACC. Also I'd heavily debate PC2 having better water reflections.
For me, PC2 looks (and plays) so much better for my driving style. However, even the most dedicated PC2 fan has to admit the ACC sounds more authentic.

Last Night I played Nurburgring with the Logitech g920 in both games and it was super satisfying in AC. Project cars gave me a weird feeling driving some cars. And the audio with headset is more immersive in AC. However, environment and car exteriors looks stunning in pc2
ACC is actually pretty lackluster in many ways at this stage. Bare in mind that pCars 2 is quite old, so SMD had time to polish it. But when it comes to the core of the experience, the driving, ACC simply has better handling which is the biggest weak point in SMD games in general.
Nice info! Would've been interesting know what kind of performance you got at the used quality setting in both games. ACC is basically unusable in VR still due to poor performance. Info like that would be interesting to have included in comparison videos like this!
But the most important thing is the feeling and how fun they are. For me at least ACC wins by miles there so that's where I will be spending a lot of time from now on.
After todays Blancpain race i was all hyped to play ACC tomorrow. But after watching this i may just go play some PCARS 2. Atleast i know that runs pretty well in VR too to top it off
My thoughts exactly. PC seems to have the edge on the audio, but it's not perfect. I could hear many of the sample's loop points in ACC which lost the immersion.
In a car racing game all people want is great sounding cars! As long as graphic’s are current gen we don’t care about them being amazing all we want is cars sounding like real cars!!
As it was mentioned in comments , we need to look at the physics of ACC also , which i personaly think is more entertaining and enjoyable ... not to mention sound effects in cocpit in ACC , you can hear every single little stone screetching your vehicle ... if this is not the ending point of ACC , if we can expect more tracks , cars maybe visual and graphic update , it will be more better than PC2 in a Sim way .

those two games look gorgeous to my eye.The details are more of a preference thing. I'd like to have both games into my Steam library tbh. I hope ACC will have demo version to try it out at some point (PC2 already has)
I believe that Project Cars has immersive graphics and audio. That being said, it's strange how AC got right the two things real sim racers do see a lot on screen, cockpit and sky.

Assetto Corsa Competizione looks much better in HDR. Also, it sounds way better than PCars2. PCars is a Simcade game, ACC is a real simulation. That settles it in the end.
PC2 isn't a simcade lmao. Forza is a simcade. Gran Turismo is a simcade. PC2 has a really complex physics engine that has been improved a whole lot since release with a new tire model and is totally comparable to ACC

Nights are way too contrasted in ACC, lacking some dynamic range. You should have talked about performance too. Personally I prefer PC2 graphics it's even close to Forza.

This may be a bit nitpicky, but Project CARS 2 does have led backlighing in the cockpits. You just have to turn your lights on

6:20 that stutter can be removed by disabling Traction Control (via the K key on default settings) :)
Though, traction control is a big part of the game so a comparison of both would have been nice. ACC's TC sounds terrific!

ACC sounds really great, PC2 sounds like a studio mix of a car.
Nothing beats the rain in Drive Club. I was so impressed with that feature! ALSO ... from what I can tell ACC wins in the sound department on the in-car view. They really nailed the sounds the car makes (not just engine).

The video is great but what really matters on most of the racing sims and why people buy them is the gameplay itself. How realistic it is to drive and how responsive the game can be compared to real life.

one thing I really like is ACC's attention to tire sounds on dry asphalt you can actually hear the tires sticking

The interior sounds in acc were made with feedback from actual gt3 drivers. Sounds they commonly used as cues have been accurately replicated, like the cold brakes
Lighting is indeed better on Pcars, AC is better sounding tough. Overall I tought AC would be better with this new graphics engine.

Temporal filtering is meant to provide worse but ok quality, and more fps.
For best graphics, you need to TURN OFF! or set FXAA(post-processing) or none if you use another AA(multiply pixel density like MSAA)
and super sampling looks just better than MSAA, super sampling is just like render 4K resolution, downsample, display ar 2K resolution.
Super sampling is never enabled for these comparisons. I only use native resolutions with no supersample
@@Nick930 Then, I think you should disable temporal filtering(aka checker board). it halves shader rendering, especially normal map texture of things like tile looks less bumpy surface. Also Interpolation is needed also, with high motion it could looks blurry.

1. Half your rendering resolution

3. Interpolation shader due to lack of information of
4. Display
PC2 better graphics overall although ACC has a better interior

PCars 2 has been out for 2 years now & its obvious the game have been polished with lots of updates. ACC a freshly baked game that i can confirm will get better in few upcoming updates. I've been playing PCars 2 & AC on PC, overall i fancy AC more than PCars 2 because of how polished the game is & the modding community for AC is huge. I'll get my hands on ACC soon, maybe in few more upcoming updates. As for now im just gonna enjoy my AC.

ACC doesn't have modding support sadly, it's just a Blancpain GT game with the AC label. If you have to buy one of the two, I'd say get PC2

PC2 graphics are terrible in some aspects and great in others! In some tracks some textures are missing!!! It's just jarring! But the car models and weather effects are pretty good.

Great video as always. Only one thing. In the rain you showed PC2 in traffic and ACC not. ACC looks way better when racing other cars in the rain. Not even mentioning physics because it's graphics comparison :P For a small team Kunos is they did great job in graphics department anyway.
@edit: and there is damage in ACC. Clearly running default realism settings (which is completely miss by Kunos)
@1:12 "Mesh seems to be more distinct in PC2" - Did you mean it's not shaded correctly? There is a clear shadow from rear wing covering part of the mesh in ACC, while in PC2 radiator behind the mesh is simply glowing out of nowhere thus the mesh is more distinct.
@4:52 of course you'll have more water splashes if you have tons of cars in front of you compared to just one in ACC. Also I'd heavily debate PC2 having better water reflections.

The pc2 488 gt3 has a deeper more throaty sound that resembles the 488 pista. The acc 488 gt3 sounds like the 488gtb
For me, PC2 looks (and plays) so much better for my driving style. However, even the most dedicated PC2 fan has to admit the ACC sounds more authentic.
Well SMS fired half their sound team at the end of pc2 development, obviously they were not happy either with the vehicle sounds in pc2

Actually physics are much more superior on PC2, higher simulation rate, more complex tire model, etc.
Last Night I played Nurburgring with the Logitech g920 in both games and it was super satisfying in AC. Project cars gave me a weird feeling driving some cars. And the audio with headset is more immersive in AC. However, environment and car exteriors looks stunning in pc2
ACC is actually pretty lackluster in many ways at this stage. Bare in mind that pCars 2 is quite old, so SMD had time to polish it. But when it comes to the core of the experience, the driving, ACC simply has better handling which is the biggest weak point in SMD games in general.
Nice info! Would've been interesting know what kind of performance you got at the used quality setting in both games. ACC is basically unusable in VR still due to poor performance. Info like that would be interesting to have included in comparison videos like this!

My thoughts exactly. PC seems to have the edge on the audio, but it's not perfect. I could hear many of the sample's loop points in ACC which lost the immersion.

Good antialiasing is just a setting away. Not an issue, at least in AMS2 (PC2 based).

In a car racing game all people want is great sounding cars! As long as graphic’s are current gen we don’t care about them being amazing all we want is cars sounding like real cars!!
Physics in AC are miles miles miles better then PC2, sorry. People we say otherwise probably havn't ever driven a car at or near its limits.

As it was mentioned in comments , we need to look at the physics of ACC also , which i personaly think is more entertaining and enjoyable ... not to mention sound effects in cocpit in ACC , you can hear every single little stone screetching your vehicle ... if this is not the ending point of ACC , if we can expect more tracks , cars maybe visual and graphic update , it will be more better than PC2 in a Sim way .

Sounds in pc2 are horrendous. It’s one of the main reasons why I don’t like playing it. ACC have done an excellent job with the sound.

those two games look gorgeous to my eye.The details are more of a preference thing. I'd like to have both games into my Steam library tbh. I hope ACC will have demo version to try it out at some point (PC2 already has)
I believe that Project Cars has immersive graphics and audio. That being said, it's strange how AC got right the two things real sim racers do see a lot on screen, cockpit and sky.
Thats ridiculous Project Cars 1, 2 never ever been simulator, thats just marketing and developers tricks which is a lot of them. Assetto from people how is made Simulator for Ferrari they work in Ferrari, and do you think the Project had a chance no it not. Assetto Corsa Competizione looks much better in HDR. Also, it sounds way better than PCars2. PCars is a Simcade game, ACC is a real simulation. That settles it in the end.
Acc's wheel screech sound is single handedly keeping me from playing it. I cant handle it.
PC2 isn't a simcade lmao. Forza is a simcade. Gran Turismo is a simcade. PC2 has a really complex physics engine that has been improved a whole lot since release with a new tire model and is totally comparable to ACC

Nights are way too contrasted in ACC, lacking some dynamic range. You should have talked about performance too. Personally I prefer PC2 graphics it's even close to Forza.

NexGen vxv Gt3 cars have huge disks and brake pads and they tend to squeal at lower speeds, pretty realistic imo.

@@nexgenvxv6652 They absolutely sound realistic in ACC - I watched both a Porsche GT3 and Ferrari Cup Challenge races live a few weeks ago, and they squeal exactly like in ACC. They also were glowing red as they braked for the hairpin!
