Kung Fu is fine as an art performance, but if you want to make it a real fighting inside the ring then the joke will be on you. Xu Xiaodong has exposed many Fung Fu masters trying to claim they can really fight.
The true essence of Chinese martial arts is to overcome the greed, anger, and ignorance within oneself, as well as arrogance, and to let the heart return to its true self. This is the true essence of Chinese martial arts.
@@Abdul-Alhazred Your statement is indeed interesting, but the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu is Bodhidharma, who is the ancestor of Buddhism. Buddhism's doctrine is to eliminate greed, anger, ignorance, and arrogance. From this, we can see that the highest realm of Kung Fu is to eliminate greed, anger, ignorance, and arrogance. If one can achieve this, there will be various supernatural powers beyond Kung Fu. Isn't Bodhidharma's "One reed crossing the river" another manifestation of this achievement?
In 1956, Kong, Buck Sam sifu left Hong Kong and moved to Hawaii with his family. Several years later he became a naturalized American citizen. During 1961, Kong joined the US army and was sent to Korea. Due to his experience and talents in gung fu, Kong sifu soon became a hand-to-hand combat instructor. Using his skills and experience in hung gar, kong sifu taught unarmed combat as well as bayonet training (bayonet is the stabbing blade fixed to the muzzle of a rifle). I cannot be certain he is the first to teach Chinese kungfu to Americans but he definitely one of the pioneers.
Actually, Wong, Ark-Yuey Sifu was the first to teach non-Chinese Kung Fu in America. That was the late 1950s early '60s. He taught Southern Shao-lin, 5-Animals, 5-Family style. One of Grandmaster Wong's teachers was Master Pung, the Head Monk of the Canton Province.
I met a Tai Chi and Baguazhang master in New Orleans around 2000 he was about 80and didn't teach Baguazhang anymore ,but he did his best at his advanced age to demonstrate Bagua for me. He taught Tai Chi on Saturdays at this Unitarian universalist church. This guy studied with Chen Pan ling and some other great master's. I was really focused on Bagua at the time, but I should have studied his Tai Chi looking back now he probably knew alot about chi energy.
Aww man! How could you pass up the ability to shoot energy beams and make people flip around like fish from a single touch??? 😂 Kung fu is horseshit and would lose to any high school wrestler.
@Pa Mu Baguazhang is Chinese yoga as an exercise for health. Doing it over time it opens up your body as you increase chi circulation from local to grand full body circulation. Holding a static posture while you walk the Bagua circle creates a certain energy flow depending on what static posture you are doing. Usually the energy flow is directed to a specific internal organ you want to get more chi to for optimum health.
@Pa Mu I wanted to study Baguazhang, but the master I met was too old to do Bagua.I have also done standing Qui Gong ,Cloud hands and the 3 swings which are ancient Taoist exercises.I did Kung-fu,western boxing and Tai Chi before I studied Bagua. A friend of mine who lived in NYC for 10-20 years studied Yang style Tai Chi with a very knowledgeable master who lived in Tai Pei or Taiwan and knew many other internal master's before coming to NYC.Anyway this friend from NYC clued me into some key things that really helped me make good progress with Baguazhang and chi development and chi storing.

Sweet film, and well made. I think much of kungfu is a martial art that can be integrated into life. If you know any MMA people, you'll know that they lose teeth, and often retire due to injury. While Kungfu can be tough, it's not designed to damage your body. I think it can give you peace of mind much more than you can get from pure combat sports.
Great point made in the video. Kung Fu can be considered a force multiplier for people against a conventionally stronger opponent. There is a difference between this and the highly competitive and restrictive world of MMA.

Nice video - the music was mixed a bit loud though, so I couldn't always hear the contributor at the time talking, although, obviously there were subtitles. Mostly good production values and valuable film, so thanks for sharing this🙏. Interestingly, I just re-read "The Sword Polisher's Record: The Way of Kung-Fu " by Adam Hsu, which I highly recommend. Don't agree with absolutely everything he said, but then again he knows his stuff so I'll just recline back into my armchair.
Chinese kungfu fighting is not fixed in its usage. It's flexible and swift with its hardened fists, palms, hands, fingers and legs. There are various forms and names of kungfu fighting arts. Each has its respective specialities and uses.
I learn from Master Liang Siyuan at Guangzhou also, if you want to know the oldest Wing Chun wooden dummy style and how Wing Chun was spread from redboat, you must go there because Master Liang teach the redboat woodendummy 108 froms.
The golden age of learning any martial art is when they were using it in real combat. Learning any martial art from people who have never fought in battle is going to be watered down. Especially as they pass it down.
It's really simple; Chinese kungfu is a treasure of really crafty concepts.. Lots of great ideas, with great potential; That NO ONE practices practically ~ Just step in the UFC/ MMA rings... End of story. They all rarely seriously spar too.. I myself am a xinyi fanatic.. Because I'm Muslim, and I consider it heritage.. But still.. I really can't just figure out how to practice it in a way, that will make a big difference when I go toe to toe with a simple mma fighter.. In a way, lots of kungfu is real.. But really under developed. # too traditional
I believe all traditional martial arts is useful because from exprience hundreds of years, people who learn Kung fu nowdays still confused how to train or apply Kung fu in real self defence situation. (this is my personal opinion and suggestions) Kung fu and boxing is traditional martial arts that created hundred years ago, and many people think boxing is more useful for real self defence situation, so why not learn how the boxing legend train their agility, reflexes, accuracy, tactic and coordination and 2-3 time sparring a week then apply it for train in Kung fu or other traditional martial arts, maybe it can work.
Hung Fu is very real, unfortunately the great movies we all love has portrayed it in a very unrealistic manner for those who can't tell what reality is. Others of us know it's showmanship. To say Gung Fu is fake is very disrespectful imop.🙏
When I think of Kungfu as a whole, I think of nice dance. There some moves/techniques from Kungfu that can be used for real fighting but this is true for other dance styles as well.
the real meaning of the word kung fu mean skill...it can be skill in anything..skill in martial..skill in cooking...skill in acrobatic... skill in healing..etc etc
Chinese kung fu is so wide. But fluidity of mition with cooperation of body parts in every style is present. And a kung fu practitioner must feel it inside his body. Just like Tai ichi.
i think all martial arts are basic movements--if done correctly you will retain your center throughout --you lose that and you get into trouble. also stay on your feet.
Kung Fu came from Kuntao Kali Silat in South East Asia. Studied by the Chinese Buddhist Monks en route to India, but had to stop in Borobudor, Indonesia circa 750-850.
Most Kung-fu masters are humble, peaceful and kind. They do not fight on the streets. The ones you met and communicated with were the second or third tyres .
There are plenty of MMA fighters who have some training in Chinese Kung Fu. All the professional fighters seem to agree that whatever fighting styles you choose to practice you need to test them against resisting opponents
BJJ experts could beat those so-called Kungfu experts any day. It is a good thing Kungfu is dying out because it is all fake bullshit coming from martial art novels.
To understd it, you should all know that kung fu (gung fu) historically is NOT a pure martial art. It has a mix of acrobatics, entertaiment, health & exercise components in it.
I think it doesn't help that the Chinese govt seems to at times promote various Kung Faux practioneers So you see the famous case of the Chinese MMA fighter taking them on.

It's a good exercise to keep you fitt😏✌️💪
It’s a way of life…an art…not just physical movements..
Chinese kungfu fighting is not fixed in its usage. It's flexible and swift with its hardened fists, palms, hands, fingers and legs. There are various forms and names of kungfu fighting arts. Each has its respective specialities and uses.
This is cool
Reminds me of the old Blue's masters, and what they nearly lost..👍🏾
Love it❤
Such a dope documentary! Inspiring.
I learn from Master Liang Siyuan at Guangzhou also, if you want to know the oldest Wing Chun wooden dummy style and how Wing Chun was spread from redboat, you must go there because Master Liang teach the redboat woodendummy 108 froms.
Hey. I want to to make a Bulgarian Subtitles for this video. Can you tell me how can i put it?
Kungfu is not fake, it just can’t beat Boxing in a Boxing match, or beat BBJ in a BBJ match, or Swimming in a Swimming match…
Or any in a MMA match.
The golden age of learning any martial art is when they were using it in real combat. Learning any martial art from people who have never fought in battle is going to be watered down. Especially as they pass it down.
Nice
It's not easy to describe Kungfu in brief because it has become part of Chinese culture.
Are you worthy of learning. Most important question.
I've found it fantastic for my fitness - being able to duck, weave and run away from MMA fighters isn't something we are born with ;)
Congfu is a set of skills obtained with time, effort and energy 🎉
Nice. I like this one.
It's really simple;
Chinese kungfu is a treasure of really crafty concepts..
Lots of great ideas, with great potential;
That NO ONE practices practically ~
Just step in the UFC/ MMA rings...
Lovely!
Thank you for sharing, Kung Fu for me is to train the ‘Mind over Matter’. Strong mind brings confidence and respect in life!
I learned from Pai Mei. (Flicks moustache) 💪😎👍 功夫
Yeah feel free to learn it, the locals don't seem to value it until it's lost. Then we'll go to denmark to relearn it.
@@wanoyume_hezhimeng 😏主题有了赶紧策划一下开搞,肯定燃
Chinese kung fu is so wide.
But fluidity of mition with cooperation of body parts in every style is present. And a kung fu practitioner must feel it inside his body.
Just like Tai ichi.
i think all martial arts are basic movements--if done correctly you will retain your center throughout --you lose that and you get into trouble. also stay on your feet.
Unless you use any martial art to test in actual fights, it is just exercise. Exercise is incredibly important, but it is not fighting.
Kung Fu came from Kuntao Kali Silat in South East Asia. Studied by the Chinese Buddhist Monks en route to India, but had to stop in Borobudor, Indonesia circa 750-850.
Why aren't there more shiou jaiu teachers?
I am in Guangzhou learning Kungfu seriously... how can I get to you? --- I trust you haven't told the whole story yet.
No conclusion then?
Was hoping to see the dude show off some fighting skills
I love the passion for this stuff. But bjj/wrestling/judo/boxing for me.
To understd it, you should all know that kung fu (gung fu) historically is NOT a pure martial art. It has a mix of acrobatics, entertaiment, health & exercise components in it.
I think it doesn't help that the Chinese govt seems to at times promote various Kung Faux practioneers
So you see the famous case of the Chinese MMA fighter taking them on.
