Styles like LF and Tantui often get a bad name as being useless for fighting due to their large extended postures and Wushu-ish appearance. Master Han's demo has certainly shown that nothing can be further from the truth.
There are 2 types of Kung Fu teacher. The ones who keep it super close to the vest and hardly show you anything and the ones who are like "Look at all this cool stuff I know". I much prefer the second group. :)
His strength , his spirit , his jacket ~
Training with the guy would be worth the time. Is willing to show everything which is rare.
Very knowledgeable and he can teach without trying to bully or dominate others. I respect this man a lot.
Absolutely. I have come accros more than one martial arts teacher who wacks you when demonstrating and then disingenuously, says, "sorry, sorry are you OK?" when you know darn-well it was intentional.
Really nice! I used to train Tan Tui, but seeing them come to life is a genuine treasure. I'd only like to add that the principle of using the same patterns with and without weapons is very much present in Philipino Martial Arts. Always nice to find resemblances across the spectrum.
This is one of the best kungfu I ever seen in youtube!
What a generous and good natured master. Respect!
Love seeing northern styles that are obscure in the West like classical Long Fist getting coverage for English-speaking audiences
People make fun of Traditional Martial Arts, because they often fail under MMA rules, but there is a certain strength, timing, and speed one gets from this type of training. I'd love to see these traditional schools do more sparring/grappling so they can show what makes their styles special in sports fighting.
Love seeing the training devices.
The triangle inside the circle is physics basis that is universal for any/all martial arts
The Master's explanation is one of the best...
Also love Master Han's playfulness and forgiving nature for you ruining his floor calling it martial arts history...lol..
Awesome video...
Yea a really easy going guy
Great skills, I love his spear work! Also very kind.
This is the lineage of the Tan Tui and other forms I practice. His grandfather's work has traveled far. Thanks for this gem!
That was some decent spear skill!
This man is AMAZING! His control of the spear is incredible. I can only imagine the hours and years of training. And so kind. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent as usual
He is the first one to impress me with the big spear
Pure awesomeness! I hope to be able to meet this Sifu again. We trained together at his Uncle and Aunts gym, although unlike this young master I am not a closed door disciple.. His stances are masterful. I hope to connect with you again. Sorry I could not attend the grandmaster's funeral, I had COVID at the time. Peace be Sifu Leung and Love to his family. - Thomas
Hi, Thomas! This is Chishiang. haven't seen you for a long time. Miss you a lot. We'll be kungfu brothers forever.Hope one day I can meet you inTaiwan or the US.
@@hangstyle I would love to have the honor of training with you and learning from you!
I appreciate how eager he is to share with you guys. Very generous and nice!
This was so interesting! I loved Master Han's kindness and generosity of spirit. Thank you MSP! 🙏
Very nice thank you for sharing, I do hope his floor is okay, fantastic training hall filled with toys.
Ooouh men! Is interesting to see so huge difference between the more advanced spear practicioner.
Beutiful Chinese Martial Arts. Huge respect to all of you people. It motivates me to practice harder today.
Great episode, and for the last time. Thanks. I really needed to see this! I’ll be sharing it on my pages…
Thanks for this, it was really a jewel of an episode.
What an interesting and generous man
Absolutely fantastic to see so much here from an amazingly knowledgeable sharing master. Thank you for everything here. Will need a few views to grasp all of this! Your input is always appreciated too..having a go at everything..looks like a lot of fun!!🙏
Not fun when you drip it though hah
Hao lihai! Very powerful!
Thanks to Will for eliciting all the hidden treasures from the master, a lost art in main land following the fled of kf master with kmt post 49 and probably going to be in Taiwan.
Absolutely fascinating, thank you.
Really wonderful video, what a nice chap and what incredible martial arts.
As ever thank you for sharing your journey 🙏
Another gem from the island, my 2nd home.
family tradition great episode!. the intro is special!.
Cool. I probably learned some of these routines when I was there in the 70’s🙏🙏🙏☯️🕉️☸️
Excelente!!!
Great content
Awesome channel! Traditional Kungfu still alive and strong in Taiwan.
I didn't get it the first one or two times I saw this video, but now I think I understand how the Southern Spear training works. Will and the Aussie couldn't lift it because they were trying to push down with their arms and weren't strong enough. At first I thought this was a tool for training a specific kind of strength that most people lack, but watching Han Ji Xiang again I realized that it's actually about teaching whole body coordination and mass transfer. When Shifu Han and eventually Ghys (ah, j'adore le "h" français qu'existe pour pas de raison) lift the pole it's because they are dropping into a deep Ma Bu and using the kinetic energy from their drop to lift the pole with very little use of their arms, somewhat akin to dropping a heavy weight on the short end of a lever to lift the long end. Like most things in the martial arts, this looks like magic when you first see it, seems obvious when someone explains it, and then turns out to be REALLY difficult when you try to do it.
This episode is super amazing. Could you tell how much weight of the triangle device that you drop ?
Great episode. So much cool stuff. Thank you
I would like to se emore of Han Ji Xiang's Long Fist. Maybe discuss 1 or 2 of the Intermediate or Advanced Long Fist sets. Many thanks and MUCH RESPECT to Han Ji Xiang for sharing his knowledge and "toys" with the world through UA-cam and Monkey Steals Peach.
Thanks again to Monkey Steals Peach for bringing me (and my selfish self) this most EXCELLENT Content!
He has his own channel in Chinese. I tagged it in the description, not sure if he has exactly that kind of content, but you can take a look
@@MonkeyStealsPeach : Thanks! Checking it out now...
Feeding Crane's next?! Oh boy I hope you had fun with that one.
my breath stopped as you dropped it lol.
So did mine!
His triangle and circle is the basis of my tai chi jian
These exercise always come before the form
I do that cone thing. I like to rest my solar plexus and Dan tian on it to develop iron body. That's pretty cool.
精彩!大槍、抖桿,詠春的六點半棍也有相似的功力訓練。
The Guoshuguan was a major national effort to transform and modernize martial arts and their instruction in China. Taiwan is the best preserved repository of those traditions. Han Qing Tan was one of the top 10 finalists at the 1929 national tournament in Hangzhou. Fan Chi Sau was another significant representative of those traditions in Taiwan. He was especially respected for his Jian.
Great stuff! Many thanks :)
Thanks for the share …… ✝️
Excellent 👌👌👌
That cone could be a business idea for your online store. I would consider getting one.😅
Yea its a cool idea!
Would you kindly let me know, how much is the beanbag weight, as well as the corn grip ? These are amazing training tools and i would love to have my own soon.
Best regard,
@MonkeyStealsPeach, can you tell us anything about the length and type of wood that long pole is?
❤❤❤
Great episode! Does anyone know the Chinese characters for that master's name?
韓基祥
👍👍👍
Great video!
I too am going to make one of those pillow case things. What is the name of that?
I’m not sure, he just called it Dou Dai (bean bag)
@@MonkeyStealsPeach thanks so much for this video. it was really special for me.
my first teachers were Han Lin-lin (daughter for Han Ching-Tan) and her husband (amazing Bajiquan player) Leung Kay-Chi.
It was extra touching for me, because master Leung passed away last year.
Thanks for this video. 🙏

"I don't want to drop it on the wooden floor"
*immediately drops it on the wooden floor
That’s me, butter fingers
@@MonkeyStealsPeach haha I really empathized with you man, I would have felt so guilty! But you did your best to do it as safely as possible, there's no doubt that I would have wrecked the entire floor with that cone.
Haha yea. I was thinking “please don’t ask me to try it”….
Does master Han Ji Xiang has any website? or social network?

@@MonkeyStealsPeach Thank you for this amazing content!
You’re welcome
Are you currently still in Taiwan? If so, I would invite you to visit my Teacher, who is a 70 year old master of Taijiquan from his own family lineage, living in Taipei...
Unfortunately I am not, would have been cool though
Ummm it’s actually called tantui (Cantonese) and it’s a style that predates Shaolin.
It should be correctly translated as white gibbon steals peach.
Thank you for sharing this video 🙏
