This is awesome!!! ❤️ Spacing is definitely tricky, and when we grade writing assignments, there’s so much spacing feedback to give every time. 😁 But yes, Korean native speakers make LOTS OF errors too! These basic rules you gave are so wonderful!!! 👍 “Nobody cares” ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
I'm here to see you once again! I am currently hooked to your live classes playlist... I want to get good in korean so much! I hope you are doing well :D
Thank you!!! Omgosh this has been bugging me and I was wondering why no one had set answers for some sentences! 감사합니다! I'm glad that it doesn't matter too much outside of academia.
Wow, I love the way you sumarized this topic at 11:50 , really helps anyone who still is hesitant or has any doubts 🥰🥰🥰 Jokes aside, it's really cool to see this kind of content about Korean, I guess it's something that often gets forgotten to be taught, but it can cause some confusion when you see a word spaced in a different way you learned in your classes (I'm looking at you numbers and counters written together, I never knew which one was was the correct way)
The video ended and I swear I sat here for five minutes staring into space trying to understand. Not because of your explanations, but rather because holy crap that's complex. I think I'm still too much of a beginner and will save this video to watch later when I've learned a bit more!
Will definitely be rewatching this to take notes - thank you! Have you done a video about breaking words at the ends of lines? If not, I'd love to know more about that. The lack of hyphenation throws me.
7:53 In Belgium, large numbers are written in full letters for documents like a cheque or a contract to buy a house where it's important that the exact amount is not mistakenly written incorrectly or ambiguous due to handwriting. Not sure if the same is done in other countries like Korea.
Thanks! I am just starting out and realized I almost need the old-school kindergarten lined pages with boxes so that I can practice my Korean writing. In Special Ed we actually had paper with crayoned-on boxes so the visually impaired students would feel when they went out of the boxes. 😂 Thanks for these videos!
마다 is a word/particle I'm never sure about whether to use spacing or not... there are others too but I can't think of them just now. And then there's 돌어가다/ 돌어 가다...I know they have different meanings but 헷갈린다

Hello Billy. Watching this video (excellent production, by the way) reminded me that I am still having trouble with 'cursive Hangul'. I have been learning to read and write using 'typewritten / print' hangul characters but I was wondering if you knew of any material on styles of handwritten (cursive) Hangul?
I'm a little confused on how to to space different vowels/consonants when you're spelling words For example: 커피 (coffee) How do i know when to space it out? Like: 커피 Instead of: 컾이 ??
Great video as always Billy! I have a question; in an academic setting, how bad would a spacing mistake be? Would it be as jarring as a spelling mistake for example?
He is writing the right way... but if you look at it through the glass, it looks flipped, so he flipped the video too. Look at his hat, it's backwards.
Billy I want to ask you that In some videos Haru (daughter of tablo)talks in casual speech with big bang's taeyang and G dragon. Both are very older than her so how she can talk casually. Are there any situations where you can talk casually with older people??
I'm not at all familiar with their relationship so I can't tell you the reason for their style of speaking. But yes, one common situation is if you're very close with someone else like dating couples. Or if you're playing a character, and not a real person.
They're not the same sort of title. 님 is typically used for nicknames or general names just to sound polite - but it's not what you'd refer to people you're already familiar with. So it's commonly used with online nicknames.
good luck on this one everyone....

I love that Billy post this video just two days after I was studying spaces on ttmik side 🥰🥰

Fortunately you don't need to master any of this for a long time ;-)
Will definitely be rewatching this to take notes - thank you!

I have another video in this series (Korean FAQ) all about punctuation :)
빌리 선생님 정말 감사합니다. [이름] 씨 띄어쓰기를 몰랐어요. 저는 선생님에게서 너무 배웠어요.

This is very useful, thanks for sharing!
I know I'm always wrong in spacing. Thanks for recommending the website for checking

In the US, when writing checks we also write all of the numbers in full letters.
@@GoBillyKorean But not in Korea, then?

Hello! I am so STUCK right now. DO we add spaces/pauses in between nouns etc. when speaking korean?
Hello Billy. Watching this video (excellent production, by the way) reminded me that I am still having trouble with 'cursive Hangul'. I have been learning to read and write using 'typewritten / print' hangul characters but I was wondering if you knew of any material on styles of handwritten (cursive) Hangul?
One that might have been worth mentioning is how to space 님 with online usernames vs titles and inanimate objects. Overall though you did a great job.
잘 했어요. 저는 많이 배웠어요.
I'm a little confused on how to to space different vowels/consonants when you're spelling words
For example:
커피 (coffee)
How do i know when to space it out? Like:
커피
Instead of:
컾이 ??
You'll simply learn spelling the same way you would learn spelling when learning a word in English.
Great video as always Billy!
I have a question; in an academic setting, how bad would a spacing mistake be? Would it be as jarring as a spelling mistake for example?
It could be, yes. It depends on what the assignment is for.
One question..how can you write backwards in this board???are you editing it or really writing backwards
He is writing the right way... but if you look at it through the glass, it looks flipped, so he flipped the video too. Look at his hat, it's backwards.
Billy I want to ask you that
In some videos Haru (daughter of tablo)talks in casual speech with big bang's taeyang and G dragon.
"Nobody cares!" made me feel a lot better about my twice-a-day freak outs over spacing.
씨 and 님 are used differently for names? For example 엔젤 씨 and 엔젤님… is this valid?
They're not the same sort of title. 님 is typically used for nicknames or general names just to sound polite - but it's not what you'd refer to people you're already familiar with. So it's commonly used with online nicknames.
@@GoBillyKorean Now I get it. Thank you again Billy!

So if koreans invented the keyboard, it'd be (aladdin theme plays) a whole new world!
I'm just thinking about how he writes everything backwards so we can see it forwards
