been using this since i started casting. nothing beats fg knot with R finish
Some steps can definitely be avoided and others can be done in different sequence, for instance you should've tightened the knot first then the rizzuto, and you didnt need that extra loop, the rizzuto will hold everything in place, but everyone does it differently
used to do it knot first but pulling the tag first keeps it straighter overall. Try it! Gunna try without that extra knot but wanted to do it thorough for the video. Thanks
@@Hook2Cook no yea i tighten the rizzuto a bit too but on the video it shows like you tightened it all the way, everytime i tie mine it stays straight, but yea the loop knot was not necessary
@@Hook2Cook I do the rizzuto AFTER cinching the knot until the braid turns color. Then I tighten the rizzuto. I feel everything needs to be tight before doing the rizzuto so it doesn’t affect the main knot. Then I do a half hitch instead of the loop knot. That’s the way iv came to do it never had one slip over the last 7 years. I fished with Rick Clunn he’s a known bass pro for a day and that’s how he showed me how to do it after his trial and error.

Ok, First, thank you for taking the time. I have to say that the finish loop knot seems ridiculous in that it would create extra friction passing through guides reducing casting distance. There has got to be a better way to finish the FG knot.

Never been a fan of Rizzuto finish. It's a pain to do, it adds extra bulk to the thin FG knot ( thin diameter knot is one of the great things about FG ), and is unnecessary. I don't use it and have had zero problems with FG knot failure.
It doesn’t a bit. But I have had slippage just using half hitches. That’s sketchy. If you take some needle nose and gently pinch / flatten the bulk form the rizzuto finish though then it’s just as thin as if you didn’t do it. I use micro guides and works perfect for me.
theres no need for all that rizzuto finish bs if you do the usual fg knot

A blood knot is way easier and it is way stronger!!
It absolutely is NOT stronger. Not even close. It’s free to watch UA-cam breaking tests between knots. Also Google is free as well. I tied the blood knot for over 20 years since I was a kid. It doesn’t compare to FG.
