500pt narrative games are the route my friends and I are taking. We're getting armies painted before use in blocks, rather than fielding 2k armies of bare plastic/metal/resin straight away. Great to see smaller games like this on UA-cam that have a bit of story to them.
@@iainmstanding Absolutely naming all my characters. My 500pts of Goblins are led my the brave and mighty gobbo big boss Gizdat, assisted by his "totally trustworthy" shaman advisor Squizerbik. Both named after old Warhammer Online characters I had back in the day.
While I have a tough time cheering any Empire army that isn't Averland, this was great to see. Filthy beastmen are a pox on mankind and must be purged. Great battle! Small battles can be great fun, the Ambush scenario from the 6th edition Wood Elves armybook was a really fun one.
Great game. When I finally get enough forces painted I'll be starting small to learn the rules bit by bit and hopefully bring a bit of narrative into the game like this

That is the perfect way to play in my opinion. Make sure you name your characters and record their heroic deeds!
