I consider this one of the best sequels ever made. It's in my top 3 with Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2. All 3 of them managed to top a movie that was already considerd ( and still is ) a masterpiece and started a franchise that is still around 40-50 years later.
It's funny how female reactors always become suspicious of Carter Burke as soon as he says to Ripley, "...I'm really an okay guy." You can see their female intuition immediately tells them to not trust him. 🤔
Yeah, Ripley's the best female character ever. I mean she could be male or female, it doesn't matter, her sex never even enters your mind because she's just such a real character. Her vulnerability and struggle and the way she doesn't just let things slide like you see in nearly every other film due to lazy writing, it makes her so realistic. When they try to dismiss and belittle her experience and thoughts on the matter, she gives it to them straight.
I have to agree, one of my personal favourite characters! I think she was not written as a female or male character, it just so happened that Sigourney Weaver was perfect for the role! 👌 In terms of female roles specifically she might come in second after Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 🤔
Third favorite movie of all time! My grandma took us to see this in the theater in 1986. It was epic with the big screen and eight channel sound. RIP Grandma, Bill Paxton and Al Matthews.
I love how Newt says with the soldiers it won't make differance cos we do know that the USCMs(2 squads) stationed there were wiped out as they tried to protect the people and the person in the hive was one of the last survivors to be taken and the USCMs arrived one month after the aliens attacked i got this info from the audio book River Of Pain that tells what happened at Hadleys Hope before the USCM arrived.

Glad you liked Alien and with Aliens you've wrapped up all the alien movies :). Glad you watched the extended version. It shows some of the back story. She likes the main actress so much you need to watch Ghostbusters (1984), Ghostbusters II (1989), and Ghostbuster Afterlife (2021).
@@DVDhoarder It's because they were for the 3rd movie supposed to do a crossover of Alien Vs. Predator, showing the homeworld that was supposed to be shared by the Aliens and Predators. The Aliens were originally supposed to be found on an island as large insects which young predators would go to prove themselves. The large Alien ship from the 1st movie was to be a pirate ship that had landed on the island stealing some of the eggs. Now which movie would you prefer?
@@ThePharaz surely sounds fantstic. But, we dont have that, so lets enjoy the ending we have, Alien3 🙄 its far from plot youmentioned, but it wraps things together guite nicely... good cast, nice effects, spooky soundtrack 👍
Aliens is the greatest sci-fi ever made as far as I'm concerned. Its certainly the Citizen Kane of the sci-fi / action / horror genre. Im still disappointed that Sigourney Weaver didnt win Best Actress. Its great that she was nominated for a sci-fi but Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron created one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles in film history. Her Ellen Ripley is right up there with Cameron's own Sarah Connor in T2 and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind. BTW, if you love the characters of Newt and Hicks, and Ripley for that matter, avoid Alien 3 at all cost.
You always make very obscure, specific references that make me think back and go "damn, I remember that!" I remember seeing that movie on DVD, very fun yeah! Around the same time I also saw Doomsday which is from the same director and also a lot of fun.
OMG girl you dont recognize the actor you just watched? Ok your nickname is "Dingbat:" until u say something to change it. Ah see the questions your answering now, had you watched the movie ""Prometheus"" you would already known.. Again Bishop is the thrid generation robot. Ash in Alien was the second generation robot and in Prometheus, David is the first generation robot. You will see they got it right with Bishop. Well the machines are not that heavy recall in Alien, Ash said the asteriod had 0,6 Earth gravity. So 100 pounds on Earth would weight 60 pounds there. I see u broke it up into 2 half ok i will contninue comment there
Carrie Henn, who played Newt, never acted again. She grew up, got married, and became a teacher in a small American town.
Well, she was only in one of the best movies ever, so why ruin that with inferior movies! 😅 good for her!

Event Horizon (1997) is a nice Sci-Fi Horror too
That one is quite interesting yeah, especially if you know nothing about it 😜

She was warming up to Burke and I was thinking like "oh no honey... you gonna be disappointed!" xD
Also we don't know how long the ship was there at this point so the beacon wouldn't work forever. Maybe the power failed in those 50 years.
Seen it in theaters at 4 years old summer of 86. Rollercoaster ride for sure
God, I can only imagine seeing this in the theater, wish I had that experience!

This movie was not scary, but it had lots of action, guns, explosions, and more than one Alien.
