They are both at the beginning of the game, but Quelagg is undeniably stronger so it would be best to have more of a chance to reinforce his weapons. As for some of the other optional placements, it seems like the bosses designed moreso to be DPS (Damage Per Second) tests are put later, likely so that he has as much of the game as possible to upgrade his gear in preparation. This is why he’d take on bosses like The Four Kings so late in the run, that boss is essentially a test of how quickly you can kill it. Of course, I don’t know for certain. But that’s what I’ve always assumed. Hopefully answered your question! :D
@@thepearled0120 late af but Quelaag feels way easier than Gargoyles to me, her attacks are much easier to dodge she just has much more health, though I only played through this game twice (and I got like halfway through NG+ once) so I don't have the most experience or most educated opinion on the matter lol
@@rajkanishu Late is better than never! I agree that Quelaag is a bit easier than the Gargoyles, but you seem to have missed my point. Quelaag is designed to be fought much later than the Gargoyles (due to Blighttown being considerably further away going by the normal progression than the Undead Parish is), and as such, she has health scaled up to the section she's in. Quelaag feels easier, but by the time you reach her, you probably have a much higher level and much better weapons (though the former obviously isn't relevant for this challenge run). If you compared the two under the exact same conditions, Quelaag would probably be harder just due to being scaled for a section later in the game, so it's worth going down the normal progression route to prepare first.
It hurts to hear how many people don't like Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls is the only game I've ever done something like this on. I didn't do a no hit run but I did an SL1 run of that game and wowee is it fucking hard. I miss it. Too bad we'll never get to play it again since it's in copyright/ownership hell and will never be remade/remastered.
@@desertrainfrog1691 Next stimulus I'd like to get one. But yeah...it's baffling that I got an RTX 3080 in November but ps5's are still impossible to get like half a year (not really, but it feels like it) after launch.
so i have this doubt, @squillakilla is it possible to clean a whole DS or maybe Blood Born map out of enemies? i know there is some weird respawn mechanic on those games but is it possible at some level?
check out lobos's clear lordan run, although it is possible to kill everything without resting at a bonfire or without dying, enemies still respawn when you get too far away from an area or when certain events are triggered, such as traveling to anor londo or back, entering the painted world, going back to the asylum etc. the game simply keeps track of dead enemies only for a certain distance.
okay, real talk. those dodge rolls on Artorias are ridiculous. how did you get the timing down for that? i've been playing souls-born games for the better part of 7 or so years and I can not dodge like that T_T
That was amazing! Much respect for your effort and your dodging accuracy. I have one question, though. You said several times that getting hit by Seath and dying to him is part of the rules of the category because it is a developer-intended death that opens up a new area that you wouldn't otherwise have to deal with. So, to make it more of a "pure" 0 hit run, couldn't you commit suicide by means of the Symbol of Avarice (or other self-inflicted death) as soon as you enter the room where you would normally die to Seath? I believe that the simple event of dying in that room is what changes your last bonfire rested at to the one in the prison, regardless of the source of your death. I think this way because, even after killing Seath, if you die to Logan when you fight him in that room, you'll end up respawning in the prison area, with your last bonfire set to that one. Again, just a thought. Also, I don't know if all that works the same way in the Remaster.
In the no hit run, death by any mean (fall, self damage, glitches etc) counts as a hit. You are allowed to die in the first encounter with seath which basically means you are allowed to get hit there. So it is basically the same if he kills himself or not. In fact, you can skip the first encounter with seath (skip that death) by using the elevator but people have decided to do it in a proper way instead of skipping.
I know about Duke Skip, but you say that "you are allowed to die in the first encounter with Seath" and thus it doesn't matter in which way you die. What I am saying is that, if it really doesn't matter is because the part of the community that do challenge runs have agreed on this, which means that they could also agree that dying in a way that doesn't involve a direct hit may be more suitable for the "No Hit Run". I would have the same opinion as you if we were talking about "No Damage Run", though, since any source of damage, be it inflicted by yourself or an enemy, still counts as damage. But, dying to SoS or poison does not count as a hit.
Your suggestion makes sense but it will make the rule more complicated than it needs to be. You need to setup for SOS to kill you when you enter the boss room (or shortly after that) which drags this out unnecessary. The community who makes the challenge run may have thought this out and they may have discard this idea. In the no damage run, poison or any sort of thing that reduce your HP counts (fall damage, self damage, glitches). You cannot use SoS or RTSR or even allowed yourself to be poisoned.

This dudes voice puts me to sleep plus he makes good content so it helps that I can give him watch time and I can get to sleep for work
Wow congratulations. This is awesome.
What does a reinforced club have any business being that strong at sl1 holy balls
Seeing the giant blacksmith getting killed really hurts me :(
Thank for the New Londo strats (for getting the key). Good thing I had 30 black firebombs:)
why did the 2 additional dogs not appear in the capra demon fight?
It hurts to hear how many people don't like Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls is the only game I've ever done something like this on. I didn't do a no hit run but I did an SL1 run of that game and wowee is it fucking hard. I miss it. Too bad we'll never get to play it again since it's in copyright/ownership hell and will never be remade/remastered.
@Yes I did indeed. Unfortunately, I don't have a ps5 but wow did I eat my words lmao.
@@AshlynOne Did you do another SL1 run on the remake?

This is beyond EPICNESS!
I played through this like 10 Times i never knew you could get the Hammer of the Giant Smith
My God he makes Smough and Ornstein look like an easy fight
so i have this doubt, @squillakilla is it possible to clean a whole DS or maybe Blood Born map out of enemies? i know there is some weird respawn mechanic on those games but is it possible at some level?
katoblepas i know I’m not squilla but technically yes the amount of planning and turmoil that goes with it however i’m not sure how much one can take
No, unless youre doing “no bonfire” lol not recommended
The enemy's don't respawn so its possible but he has to not rest in a bonfire and honestly the challange would be pretty boring
check out lobos's clear lordan run, although it is possible to kill everything without resting at a bonfire or without dying, enemies still respawn when you get too far away from an area or when certain events are triggered, such as traveling to anor londo or back, entering the painted world, going back to the asylum etc. the game simply keeps track of dead enemies only for a certain distance.
I swear the hollows near Firelink can sometimes respawn without resting at a bonfire (DS1), but I might just be crazy.
This is madness

and i'm STILL getting my ass kicked by Balder Knights.
Learn to parry.
I can't say just how much the difficulty drops when you learn to parry properly.
@@RosieSquall Or dodge even.
okay, real talk. those dodge rolls on Artorias are ridiculous. how did you get the timing down for that? i've been playing souls-born games for the better part of 7 or so years and I can not dodge like that T_T

Also why are no skeletons going for you at Nito. I’m wearing the fog ring as well, but they immediately come for me.
Slumbering dragon crest ring. Just beat him SL1... not 0 hit though
Bro you are my new hero
I see. Yeah, it makes sense, I guess. Well, I just gave the suggestion in case no one had thought about it. Thanks for the replies!
It. Doesn’t. Matter.
In response to the no damage run topic, how do you prevent damage from entering boss fights from dropping in like with nito and pinwheel?
No-Hit, and No-Damage is very different. Also if the game forces it, it doesn't count. For instance when Seath kills you it's still a no death run.
@@spookzer16 you can skip seath,I think
@@hulkmt yeah but that's a glitch, so depending on the run that may be allowed.

It is slightly diffrent but it is still very good so yeah I would recommend
Highly recommend, even though it's very different. Dark Souls 2 is worth a try as well, some people love it and some don't.
