Great tutorial. As I got toward the very end, I realized my layers didn't match yours completely so I must have missed something. Might I suggest, when there are this many steps and layers, showing the whole layers panel so that we can stop and make sure we have things in the right order. Thanks!
Super cool! I was struggling a little bit with some part, but in the end I figured it out with the clipping mask thing! used the font you used too, and looked way better than the font I was using before. :) thank you for this awesome tutorial!
1. Thank you for your amazing videos. I've been using photoshop since it came out but never learned how to use it. Now my eyes are opened to how amazing it is!! 2. At 9:34 the instruction is to open the displaced file and it is supposed to distort the text. It is not working for me. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong and if there is a different way to do it. (I'm using photoshop CS6)
The displacement file must be save as a PSD; not a JPG. Also, make sure your image mode is correct - go to Image > Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel. If it's still not working, it may be due to a number of factors, but one would have to check your document to determine the source of the problem.

Thanks for this technique. I've tried a few methods but the text seemed to overpower the actual face. This version is a more refined way and more subtle, so that the facial features show through.
🤩🤩Its awesome but i think it would be even better if you could isolate the eyes and lips from the text overlay. Let the text be visible only on the lips
At 10:40 when I move the duplicated layer to the top it covers the entire screen, does not conform to the mask shape that was selected earlier. Tried several times with both methods of removing the background.
Place your cursor between the layers and press and hold Alt or Option. Your cursor should change into a clipping mask icon. When you see it, click it. Another way to clip it is to go to Layer and Create Clipping Mask.
You said to remove background, but you also use the selection tool. Is it either or, or both that we have to do? Way too fast. Not for the beginner. I tried. LOL! Thanks for the great video anyways. I will have to learn more before attempting this again.
When I do the displace filter it does not follow the curves of the photo and doesn't distort as it does in your example. I've followed all the steps precisely. Any idea what might be going wrong?
Whew...it could be due to any one of many reasons. Does it distort at all? For example, did you check "Delete Cropped Pixels"? Did you save the displacement map as a PSD file? One would have to check your document to determine the source of the problem.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Hi, thank you for you answer. I've made sure that I did the things you've mentioned. I've also tried some easy displacements on other images which used to work, but now only moves the displaced image a couple of pixels to the left. I would love to be able to fix this. Would it be possible for me to send you the file that you could have a quick look?
Once a layer becomes a clipping mask, it's restricted to the shape of the layer below it. In other words, the shape of the layer below the clipping mask is confining the clipping mask layer to that shape.
I do welcome suggestions for tutorials and I appreciate the many requests I receive every week. Depending on the particular subject and other factors, I may decide to do or not do them. 👍
Brother, I saw a video where every letter becomes resized automatically according to the photo's scratch lines, I don't know who did that, I am still searching for that video. I lost the video. Thank you
With all of the AI available - why do we need to MANUALLY make a displacement map. C'mon Adobe - make my life EZ for the $$$ that I pay you. You SHOULD be able to import an image - or use any layer, and tell PS to make this layer into a displacement map. ONE CLICK, with allowable adjustments.
I recently acquired Photoshop 2023. This video frustraited me because the path to these instructions on your version of Photoshop are NOT the same. Once I got to the text portion, the layers showed up different. converting to smart objects was different. I felt like that portrait the scream by Edvard Munch.
Please let me know what specific instructions doesn't work for you. I'm using CC 2023 as well. Reference the time in the video please (minute: second).
This is by far the most professional and artistic way to do that . Have to watch this 20 times to get it
Thanks
Thank you so much for your donation to my channel! I really appreciate it! 🙏💙
I've learnt so much from your tutorials, they're absolutely amazing! Very grateful, thank you 🙂

Great tutorial! So many steps... I would have to watch each time I try it. lol. Wouldn't an action for this be wonderful??? 🙏
Most of the heavy lifting is taken car of once the face is converted to a Smart Object.
Great.. 👌🙏
Wow 🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
perfetto!
At first i doubt, but then it surprised me.
Impresionante 😮

Fantastic work.
Sir, my very very wish to work with you.
Genius
Great idea for updating my social media photo. Real unique tutorial!!
Прекрасно
Is there a way to create an animation where the text builds from the top [like typed text] or flies in and create the portrait?
That can be easily done in After Effects, but not Photoshop.
At 11:0n, you add the Layer Mask to the top text layer.
9:53 I didn't know how to do this part. please can you explain
Place your cursor between the layers and press and hold Alt or Option. Your cursor should change into a clipping mask icon. When you see it, click it. Another way to clip it is to go to Layer and Create Clipping Mask.
Fucking amazing. And this technique can be used in so many other creative ways
UA-cam should have the option to like multiple times.

When was this in the video, please (minute:second) and please refer to your question in your reply. Thank you!
in minute 10, you have to press alt key when you want to create a klipping mask before clicking the mouse between the two layers.
Indeed!
valuable information!
in minutes 10.50 how to re-clip to original level and subject to original text layer, what did you do ?
I explain it at 9:46.
When I try to change the background of the first layer we added to black, I clicked ctrl d but it did nothing. I'm on windows please help me
When is this in the video? Minute:second, please.
Is it possible to do in Premiere?
Sorry, I don't know. I never worked in Premier.
Can you provide also the prompt to do that with with AI and custom reference? Thanks
Prompt? Custom reference? No idea. 🤔
I didn’t have the selection present as an alpha channel, did I miss a step?
When a selection is saved, it automatically becomes an alpha channel. Saved selections can always be found in the Channels panel.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thanks!

the clipping mask method, what does that mean, I don't understand😓
Once a layer becomes a clipping mask, it's restricted to the shape of the layer below it. In other words, the shape of the layer below the clipping mask is confining the clipping mask layer to that shape.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thanks sir , it worked 🥳
😢 you are explaining it perfectly , but still it is too hard to do it well 😢
It takes practice. After awhile, it won't be hard. 👍
Can you make a 3d microworld tutorial please🤠

I didn't do that video, but it does sound interesting!
@@BLTV_Photoshop hope you find the technique, and I will share in comment box if I find the video
in minute 11 , idont have that alpha 1 layer
At 3:26, I state how to save your layer mask. By default, it's saved in the Channels panel as "Alpha 1".
Did not work twice. Restarted and still didn't work
Sorry to hear.
Is this voice AI?
No. It's my real AI-sounding voice. 🤖
@@BLTV_Photoshop Fabulous! You sound so...perfect!

5:47 when I click to convert to smart object I don't have a locked background layer. I only have Layer 2.
I'm using PS 24.3.0 in a Mac
Love this effect. Thank you so much for sharing.
