For a British aircraft to have been designed in the late 1950's, it is quite an incredible feat of aerospace design and engineering that still flies today! Brilliant.
Surprised to see that old "Day Attack" version (KD-40) at 4:43! Thought those were all retired years ago and that the fleet was now exclusively Night Attack, Harrier II + and T-Bird's. Hmm...
I just love any plane with this kind of capability. I know they use a lot of fuel when doing vertical take off and landings, not forgetting hover maneuvers. But still they are fun to see.
caitgems1 Hi, The F-35B is the new Harrier. Don't get me wrong, I love the Harrier and will never forget seeing it at the Cleveland airshow for the first time. Truly a great plane. The Brits really accomplished something in creating the Harrier.
Robert Brockway Yea we done ok in the past, Kind of like NASA-start out amazing and end up hitchin a lift of the Russians. Odd how life turns out but i think i would agree on the F35... its all well being nostalgic but it does`nt win air combat!!!
caitgems1 The program with the Russians taking our people to the ISS will change a lot when Space-X gets up and rolling. There is also the space plane project. This is good so NASA can do deep space solar maned exploration.
Robert Brockway If you are American, would you say your getting your money`s worth from NASA and has politics played a large part in its stagnation. When i was a young boy we believe that by the time we were adults the would be bases on the Moon and possibly Mars..
Needs som kind of sci fi super array laquer to stream off some of the limitations on Mach ? air does have certain limits over very small anti drag heated paint or something but one hell of a historical plane, it looks ok still despite the f35 beauty and well it still can multi role and stop to deploy aam sam CM.s . Pluto cloud shimmer at comparable velocity per inch of air compressor etc ? It just hovers I guess. I geek away now.
Harrier crashes were mostly occur on vtol operations due to many things that contributes it to loose power. If only they just use its stol capabilities, accidents may be avoided and range will greatly improve.
Though it can take off and land like a helo, but much ,much faster and dose not have to have a long runway like conventional fighter craft. The B-35B is a updated design of this great airplane.

I was 203 plane captain in 97/98 until they sent me to take on the 1st v22. Miss those days of the ol flightline 😔

very smooth descent vs. real marines use daily Harrier's ( 1.47 ), maybe because with the trainers are more sensitive with the equipment. Good luck !
