I’m so delighted to find this video! I’m thrilled that you did this on canvas, instead of a digital medium, and then you used ED as a model. It’s perfection!

Amazing! You have such a wonderful `eye` to be able to paint portraits so loosely and beautifully! Thank you for sharing.

I love the way you teach and I just listened to your webinar.
I am not an oil painter and I have no interest in painting in oil and my work veers on abstract realism. I use mixed media and definitely not a purist, but I could relate to almost everything else you touched on in the webinar.
I definitely need help in certain areas and I have already invested money into something that I am thinking is not a good fit for me. I am not sure how to deal with that just yet,.
I just have a knowing that I need to up my game and refine some old skills and loose some ineffective habits.
Im heading to my pinterest inspo to see what I have and will definitely do the comparison because I definitely want and intend to bridge the gap.

I am the king of working too thick with oil paint, and then you can't push it anymore, and it becomes mud. But being mindful of what I need to do to improve has helped a lot. I recommend community college academic art classes and reading about things like oil painting, design, color theory. It is daunting to new students but they might be surprised at how much they love learning about it too. My passion for 2D design was sparked by a chapter in a book by Juliette Aristides

I love your style, and I believe you are a really amazing professional painter. The reason I am going to be critical here is to possibly enlighten you to something that you might not care to hear, or might not be aware of... not to be insulting. This is not an insult. This is my perspective, and is something you may find can help you. Take it any way you want.
I truly wish you the best for your future, and know you are going to be fine no matter what I tell you... so here is my two cents!
I stopped watching your videos because I do not like hearing excuses for why someone does things, (explanations that preclude other actions) I want to know why someone does definitive things based on the experience of technical issues, not "feel" and "felt" and "feelings"... Front loading a bullet with this type of explanation deflates your authority of owning such action, (damn the critics, you don't need to explain yourself to them, they will and do see everything from another point of view) You should KNOW the point you make, not explain the feelings that led you there, to me and many like me, this is beside the point, let your student find their own way to these feelings, to know YOUR points inside and out, it will be different for them, and your journey is never going to align with everyone. I literally jump over five to six minutes of this dialog between every bullet you hit, and I often feel that the bullet is somewhat lacking in definition due to it being front loaded with your personal journey which is of no value to my experience at all. The short of it is, you are great at talking about how you made your personal journey, not outlining definitive actions that might help another find theirs. It is hard to fill a block of time with 100% informational facts concerning a topic, I know, however, the filler drives me away when I am seeking an action. Haha, I am an extremely hard mark to enroll into anyone's camp, I am well read, and experienced, but I do see value in understanding other points of view, and keep many artists in my feed to stay aware of the gaps in techniques and philosophies between artists' process. This is why I am communicating this to you, take it for whatever you want.
