As a young man in today’s society I was completely overwhelmed by this production about what transpired in the 1970 black power movement. Our nations history needs to be shown more often like this. The youths of that time period were badass and very impacting. Let us not forget how strong our nation of Trinidad and Tobago was. We really were a people
I was 15 in Form 4, doing GCE O Levels with seven classmates, as part of a test program. The riots and subsequent 24 hours' curfew shut down the school system. After BTS discussions with the GCE England authorities, the Prime Minister reopened the schools for the GCE students only.
Black Power took place in 1968 in America- with Stokley Carmichael (a Trinidadian), H. Rap Brown, Eldridge Cleaver, Bobby Seale. This was the opposite of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s'- this was anarchy. In 1970, Black Power with Makandal Dagga (Geddes Granger) was in response to how Independence came & went, yet there was no real change or progress. As Professor Selwyn Ryan put it- the youth of Trinidad were sold out. As a matter of fact, I have seen pictures of the Black Power era in 1970 where there is a banner declaring "Africans & Indians Unite".
To set the record,,,A Black Man. Mr Herman Marcano. General manager Singer Sewing Machine Co,,of the Caribbean,,,employed me at the Singer Company,,a most brilliant gentleman,,to whom I am very greatful,,
This took place in all the Islands, dence as a forest they work is waiting for them because of their clour. A man removed his cash from this bank. His daughter could not be employed there. Remember this bank is racist as hell. All the commercial enterprises are the same in the West Indies at this time.
Brilliant presentation of an important part of T&T history.

But this video is (specifically) revolves around TRINIDAD & Tobago, not the entire Caribbean sir.
