Honda makes this Predator engine for Harbor Freight exclusively. My buddy is in management for HF and he told me. That's why the Predator line is so reliable.
Thank you Garrett for your video..I was needing to upgrade the Honda 4000psi 4gpm it was getting the job done but it not allowing me get in an out of easy jobs time wise..I was stuck between the Honda 690 & the Predator 670..you’re absolutely correct why spend 5k when you can get the Predator for less than 3k..I am changing my trailer set up a bit but I am looking forward to getting it on the road..the machine arrived last week super excited will keep u posted..from the 305 ✌🏽
I have had nothing but issues with that gearbox. There is a constant leak between the space where the gearbox and the pump meet. Ive got new O rings, I used silicone on them for a better seal, etc. How has it been running for you?
@@roberthannigan9353 this is a gear drive. I don’t have any experience with direct drive just due to an 8 GPM being the smallest I’ve ever ran. The gear drive takes up far less room, no belts to snap and performance is just as good if not better with it. Zero issues with this setup overall. Belt drive had little issues as well so marginal difference overall in longevity.
Garrett, are you the Glover I talk up one side and down the other at Newton C.? I been watching this video for the past few months and I didn’t even realize it was you till I saw the name and area code.
@@garrettglover1776 awesome man, love to hear that. Are there any parts you replaced early on? I’ve heard the fuel pump seems to get replaced pretty fast.
@@treyhackett4645 had a fuel issue early on but just adjusted the fuel input and hasn’t been an issue since. Nothing major has been done. Did spark plus on my own at 500.
Hope it works well...but I wouldn't have that Predator...it will never last like the Honda. I have never had a single issue with my GX690's. If you build the unit with a Honda, like you did with the Predator, there is only about 700 dollars difference in price...the Predator is false economy or at least it is for me. Your pricing of 5000 for the Honda unit is for buying the completed unit.
Problem was none of the $1,799 bare motors were in stock. Just $2,500 & up. Worth a shot given the warranty. I never saw myself doing it but worst case scenario I can swap it over to a Honda in the future.
Everyone who knocks the predator just doesn't know how to work on engines or maintain them and need the honda to baby them. Guys in the predator owners group are ready to throw it out over a clogged fuel line.
If you buy the 2 year warranty with the predator you can take it back no questions asked and get a new motor. Renew the warranty and get another 2 years. If you have mechanical ability the predator is great but if not honda works. I have lots of equipment with 5-6hp motors and I cannot tell any difference between the predator and the honda as far as performance. I do swap the air filter on the predator for a honda air filter but I have lots of parts laying around.
@@pavermakeover I have mechanical experience...I don't want to work on my equipment and I don't want problems with it on jobs. @@jimmywarren6685 I have been in the landscape and hardscape business 33 years. Lots of small engines in my shop. They all have problems including my Honda motors. If you’re referring to the harbor freight pressure washer it’s going to have more rinsing power and reach than the 4400 psi due to the volume of water. This one’s definitely more capable in all aspects of using it for day to day work

Thank You, I am looking to get into the business, and I am really curious if it works as good as the Honda.
Sounds and looks great! I do worry about that plastic gas tank being so close to that motor tho.
thanks for the the build links
Nice 👍
Nice build,
Where can I get a skid(frame) for a build like that..?
Great job. Was the hour meter hard to setup?
Not at all. You just wrap the supplied wire around your plug wire 3-5 times and then mount the meter where you’d like it.
@@garrettglover1776 Thank you Garrett!
Do u have a video on the building of the while system pressure washer)?
Thanks
Do you have the build list? Looking into building one asap and curious on what all I’ll need. Thanks

Great Video! One thing I'm curious about. What's the benefits with going with a gear drive rather than a belt drive?
That’s great! How has it been performing? I’ve been wanting to do this build also
Great so far. @ 157 hours with no issues at all. No power dips or issues with long run times.
What was the unloader? The website is down, so I can't view it :)
How is the Predator 8GPM Setup with AR Pump and Gear Drive working out for you? Has it given you any issues?

Can you do a demo?
How'd it work out...
After half a year how is it doing?
Can you run it at 3/4 throttle to get it to 8fpm instead of 10? And if so will that lower the PSI as well?
Thanks
Do you have the video of how you build it pls

Can I use a more powerful pump like 4000 psi with the engine
Yes. Depending on your use the volume is a bigger factor. 8 @ 3600 is pretty much ideal for all uses.
