Hey guys! Another late video but I finally managed to finish my video on the Top 7 Worst Male and Female Followers in the Elder Scrolls Skyrim Remastered A.K.A. Special Edition. I'm basing my choices here on stats when these followers reach maximum level.

Once, I decided to take Lydia to one of the Imperial camps while doing the Civil War questline. For some reason, I asked her to go home after I got there. But because NPC, the Imperials started telling her to leave, Imperial business and whatnot, then she attacked them and killed the entire camp

Nic Jackson he does mean the blade. The ebony blade gets permanently stronger if you use it to kill followers.
RIP Faendal... first time playing skyrim while going to Bleak Falls Barrow i lost him... 40 hours later i decided to go for a shortcut to riverwood and eh... found Faendal dead on a random rock... i dont think i have ever felt such an emotion for a fictional character ... well maybe Lee Everett

Faendal was my first follower too. He died when I explored Dead Man's Respite. I yelled at him for being worthless.

Funny story, after I completed the love triangle quest I married Camilla and Faendal showed up at my wedding, it was the funniest thing.
Faendal is my homie haha I keep him up to about level 30 then I go solo
Faendall also show up at the house you choose for Camilla to live in, either harassing her if you helped Sven or befriending her if you helped him in the quest. Its why I sacrifice him to Boethiah.
So I made him my steward for Lakeview Manor and i think it's a bug but he keeps saying " You want to talk to me, after everything you've done "
Me too. I think he shows up to any of your weddings if you "help" him.
Before I even married her I killed faendal
When I took Faendal as a follower, I payed him to level my archery, and when I traded my things with him, I found all my gold that I payed him😂 I took it of course

There are tons of followers who aren't important story-wise, don't have much personality and aren't easily accessible. I think you can find many in one of the Orc strongholds, where you can hire almost everyone after finishing a quest for them.
On my 2h build I sacrificed Sven for the kicks and giggles of it.

i dont even understand why followers get level caps in the first place. why not make all followers level with the player so you can pick whoever you want and not have your fav companion be useless late game?
I'm guessing its meant for the player to fight on their own after a certain time of playing.
Daryl Dixon doesn't make sense as some never cap.

So after I get my worn shrouded armor, I should go equip my fork and knife dual wielding set, and travel with Sven for maximum Alduin slaying, on legendary.
Honestly that's too overpowered, Alduin won't stand a chance.

I know he sucks but I can't really fault Agmaer too much. He was a farmers boy who's only experience in combat before joining the dawnguard was killing skeevers with his 'pa's axe.'

When you said Camila from riverwood with the love triangle, it reminded me of when I completed the love triangle quest but then married her anyway. Then at my manor in Falkreath I accidentally slit her throat in our garden. My kids decided to come outside immediately after this to play hide and seek, so I had to drag her body into the river to avoid being caught. I came back at sundown when my kids where trying to find her. Her brother, or anyone for that matter, knows she's been dead for 6 months in-game except for a hunter camped on the side of the river. They saw her body float down the stream, so I had to pull a Markarth guard one and silent the witnesses. Work work work.

Teldryn Sero is the best mercenary also one of the most attractive characters in the game but of course Bethesda made him unavailable for marriage.

Console commands or perfect touch perk.
Teldryn Sero has been my companion for 25 levels (276 hours game time). I used console commands to remove his Chitin Helmet almost immediately after he joined me. He now wears the Diadem of the Savant so I can see his face, along with the Ancient Falmer set which complements his physique. He is indeed worth every coin. My only regret is that he can't be married.

He died in Bleak Falls Barrow first time I used him. But that was my fault because accidentally shot him with a arrow. R.I.P Sven

Lydia got whacked by a giant. Some time later I see something slithering through the grass... It's Lydia on her back. Can't talk with her, all she does is follow me while lying on her back... It fixed itself after entering a loading screen %-)

I just found out the that Solitude's executioner can become a follower...always a new surprise in Skyrim haha

Serana is the best follower because she is an essential and cannot die and soaks all the heat from me.
Jon Snow she is also a powerful one and has unique dialogs

Why ? :They are beautiful,good at combat,teach me stuff (Aela how to use my bow and Serana sleeping with things does not raise your knowledge for them ),and of course...have nice and unique personalities
I usually get Mjoll as my follower. I’m thinking about Durak though. Right now, I run an assassin character. I tell my follower to wait, kill a few people, accidentally find a dragon in a dungeon, and rub back to my follower.

Faendal is my bff I don’t go anywhere without him.
I consider him my best friend because he was my very first follower and now every play through I roll up to Riverwood all hot and sweaty after the dragon attack and screw over sven just for my main, main man faendal! 😁
Faendal seems to be everybody's best pal in skyrim so many people say he's epic probably cos you get him right after the escape Helgan and get to river wood and you most likely spend a lot of time with him until you can afford a mercenary or get Lydia but I also think he's epic he's my bff to
Faendal was my BFF in my second play through. I used Sven in my first play through and he’s just not the same. My first follower was Benor though, as he’s one of my favorites.
Sven, the Riverwood "Bard", is hands own the single worst follower in the whole of Skyrim! He's a horrible fighter, a coward and a lousy bard to boot. The ONLY use I found for Sven as a follower is to have an easy choice to the question, "whom shall I take to Boethiah?" But even the Ebony Mail is a pale prize for having to deal with Sven's cowardice in the earliest parts of the game when you could've had Faendal who is a competent follower, a good archer and an archery trainer as well!!!

You really want to open up that worm hole? I van see it now, x is the best, y is the best. It also depends on your character and your taste, take Lydia for instance, shes a decent follower but some hate her (she does get annoying as hell after a while) while other players like her.

These are the companions I think are the most useless and get in your way more then they actually help in combat and are generally not worth the trouble of having to lug around with you..

But I guess Serana is *okay* because she is the best written follower .........that is until she runs out of things to say and her Dialog repeats.
I hate followers too, so when I actually use one, it's either one from a mod using actually competent AI, or an archer, which get in the way much less than melee followers.
Federal agent Steve Erik the slayer has the most time and effort put into his dialogue over serana.
I use a modded companion, Inigo. Best fucking companion mod out there. So well made, I say, "great Bethesda, the modders make better stories, and companions than you now"

My favorite follower is Eric The Slayer. I like to give him a great axe and heavy armor (preferably Legendary Banded Iron or Steel because of the look). He strikes me as a guy capable of great things if he can get out and do those things.

I always take Sven with me until I get to Lydia. I've actually completed two playthroughs, one of which I was about level 45 before stopping with just Sven as a follower. And I always make Sven one of my stewards at a hearthfire home once I get one built. Yes he is absolute garbage, and if I didn't have a mod making him essential he would've been long dead, but I still love him. When I first picked up the game, I lost my shit when I realized Sven shared a voice actor with haku from spirited away. This was before I realized that like 50 other characters also share a voice with haku. Regardless my 15 year old weeb ass was all over that shit, and he's held a fond spot in my heart ever since.

From a roleplay perspective, Sven is the moral choice. You can get archery training from what's-her-face in the companions anyway, Faendal is a creep. Plus, it's always fun to have a bard around!

Wrong, Serana levels with you up to 50 while everyone in the dawnguard except 2 of them level with you forever, such as Durak and Celann. Another that levels with you forever is Kharjo. Serana really isn't that good after level 50.

I tried it but When shy was fighting she died
I did too until Serena killed her in my game. They started fighting out of the blue and next thing I knew Lydia was lifeless on the floor.

Worst is Lydia. Always says the same three stock phrases but worse of all wherever you go, whatever you do she is ALWAYS lagging a few hundred yards behind you. Has she only got one leg? Damn slowcoach!

I agree, not only is Sven a terrible follower, but picking him means you give up the best early game follower. If you keep upgrading Faendal's equipment and enchantments, you can easily keep him until end game. He helped me kill the Ebony Warrior and Karstaag on legendary
When I bought my house in white run, he ran home to riverwood while i stashed all my shit in the house. Later on when I was back in riverwood, he wasnt in his house, so i go outside, a dragon appears. I smear it and then a courrier runs into me giving me my inheritence... 300 gold.... He was wearing full chitin heavy armor, and had a ton of dragon bones/scales on him... Im still trekking for his body...😂😂 sad man, sadddd. Now im stuck with lydia whos nowheres near as sneaky

I think Lydia is better because she caps at a higher level which means her stats improve, and she can also do exactly what you just said

I swear after watching all these "worst of skyrim" vids, I wanna do a playthrough with the worst armor, weapons, followers etc. Just so skyrim can seem hard again......I might even record it.

Since he's essential, highly skilled, more dialogue, dosen't act like a totally mindless NPC and he's blue.
Also, if you go with Faendal instead of Sven, you can train in Archery for free because you can just take your coin back every level. Even if you don't invest in Archery, you can level up faster, like level six through ten before you even get to Whiterun. #SkyrimLifeHacks
I know about this, but it doesn't seem to work on my game. The money doesn't go to his inventory. Are there any strict steps to be taken?
@@xGMV Hmm, I don't know. How many different characters have you tried this with? I usually just pay him for training and take it from his follower inventory. Sorry, mate.

Sven! That worthless shite! Worst follower hands down! Thanks for the alternatives to using Sven as sacrifice bait. Sven runs away from combat and isn't even a very good bard! The Skyrim packaging should come with a warning label: To avoid later disappointment remember to follow Ralof to get better starting gear and elect to help Faendal as Sven is worthless and the absolute worst follower we could possibly have included in our game.

Sven got himself killed, or should i say i killed him on "accident" Lydia is my human shield but she's doing pretty good so far. Kinda regret not sacrificing Sven to Boethiah at the time. Didn't know it was a thing.

The Buzzard Derkeethus isn't on this list is because he has level 85 Archery at max level and a high one handed but I also use Derkeethus and he is very powerful not a toy to be toyed with.

On my game, I have a lvl 60 Khajiit, and my husband is Onmund. Sometimes, I also bring him along as a follower. Obviously i give him great armor, but the times I've brought him along, he's DESTROYED everything we fought. So, I'm sorry, but i just cant agree with you on him being one of the worst.

Unfortunately, Jzargo's AI makes him less useful than his stats would have you believe. If a target is at close or medium range, he will almost always use sparks. He may occasionally use Ice Spike or Chain Lightning if an enemy is really far away, but most of the time he'll just stick to the novice spell. Marcurio makes a much better mage follower because he frequently uses Chain Lightning.
There are 3 options. Serena, Aela, and Inigo.

Teldryn Sero, sword for hire. I literally tried to get this guy killed, I brought him in my fight against Karstaag at level 32 and he just wouldn't die lmao, he'd go down and get back up at half health.

Sven plays tunes as u wander around the world and it is perhaps the single most likely one to be used for those who really get into the role playing aspects
faendal is still the best choice...due the fact you can take back the gold you spent on training from their inventory...and the fact that he has many fuckin' looot to sell [for hoarders as well]
one advantage about sven is that you can basically build him to whatever among the two [warrior or rogue]
HulCAWmania Universe you can do the same thing with aela from the companions
Marshal Mills and aela is better because you can marry her and she can teach you higher archery than faendal

You can kill Faendal and it will give you your gold back as well.

Serana is immune to frost damage and is really useful if you want to spam ice storm or you are fighting a dragon that uses frost shouts
Yeah, she is a nord and a blood starved vampire, both of which gain a 50% resistance to frost damage.
The way vampirism effects you is different from the way it effects npcs because balance

Where do you find these stats for the followers? Never really knew they had stats, I just stick with Lydia or Serena so I never used these followers or heard of most of em lol XD

If you have the Dragonborn dlc you can get a dope follower in solsthiem, he has a variety of spells at his disposal and some sick melee attacks.

I'm playing through Skyrim for the first time and I chose to watch this video purely to see if my companion is on the list. Hearing how crappy the companions are earlier on the list, I'm feeling like I have good odds... till it's revealed my beloved Sven is #1 worst ;-;
What can I say, I'm a sucker for Jason Marsden's voice, and having him sing to me in the inn won me over. To then be able to help him in the small quest (plus he wanted to tell Camila a truth while Faendal wanted me to lie to her, which was the basis for my decision more than liking Sven) and see I had the new option to ask him to follow me, I was so happy. Guess this explains why I'm not winning a lot of fights very easily as well as why Sven yields so quickly. Looks like I'll be switching out companions soon. Glad I watched this! Sad I can't get free archery lessons from Faendal anymore tho :(
I'm actually surprised that the Argonian follower isn't on this list, that would be soo typical that the only Argonian is one of the worst.

I really wanted to marry a male argonian. There are two marrigable male argonians. I decided to go for the one that can follow me around, carry my dragon bones, etc. I search everywhere for darkeethus before I realize that he's been randomly chosen for a rescue quest. I go on this long ass rescue quest, looking for my scaly lothario, and I finally rescue the bastard.
He looks at his soon-to-be-wife who has just rescued him from certain doom. The beautiful vengeful woman who called upon the wrath of the dragons with her voice and wove miracles through the raw elements and then he said...
"It's wearing a dangerous spell!"
My hubby whined about how I was a scary mage all the way back to darkwater crossing. He didn't even notice my amulet of mara. The option to bother him about marriage was showing up, but he only ever told me 'It's wearing a dangerous spell'.
Thank you for not adding Derkeethus. Because he's a good folower. Though there might be some bugs on him like, for example, if a player's marries him and choose a player's home, he will refuse to stay. Unless you have a Skyrim patch.
best follower imo, sure, he caps at lvl 30 but he has half decent sneak, execellent archery. but most importantly, he's got amazing light armour and cannot be killed due to being marked as "essential" in the game's code.

When I rolled into Riverwood, I helped Faendal. I told him to follow me. I trained in archery. I traded items with him. I got my gold back. Free archery training up until he runs out of skill to teach you. Learn the conjuration magic perk that allows bound weapons to automatically trap souls and you can be a good enchanter and archer.
I downloaded a mod to have Sapphire from the Thieves Guild as a follower, and I highly recommend the mod for those that use them. She and my Dragonborn get into a lot of shenanigans.

@Thomas Roberts No,its used for very certain type of stealth builds but its important for that type.
AKA the type of stealth builds that utilizes destruction runes.
With quiet casting and sneak or/and illusion and some destruction runes,its safe to say this shout can be OP for these types of builds.
I use a stealth build, but whenever I use throw voice I get detected. Even if I use it far away

That's why you use it+quiet casting perk from illusion.(this perk makes shouts quiet,too)
Makes runes op since you can lure enemies on runes from far away using this shout without risking being revealed at all once you have some nice sneak and illusion.
Just like how slow time shout is great for sneak archer.
Even better with Ordinator mod which has even better rune perks on destruction tree and sneak crits on magic attacks. :)
I married Camila in one of my playthroughs, and saw Faendal come out of my house just as I was coming. I asked him to follow me, and made sure he suffered an unfortunate accident.
