Your mockDonalds looks so much healthier than the real thing. Yippee to Dan for feeling a bit better and officially managing Phoebes football team. We have lots of kids football (soccer) teams here and it’s great exercise and empowering self esteem. My city doesn’t allow backyard chickens so I’m quite interested in your chickens antics. Our evenings an early mornings are finally autumnal but still in drought conditions (very strange). Halloween has been on hold the last 3 years so expecting a huge turnout but no fireworks due to drought. The shopping malls are also back to giving out treats to young children if you take them around the stores.

You guys so made me want to have a cosy burger evening 😂 might arrange it in the next weekend 😏 here in Italy we do not have Halloween, although lately many have been starting to decorate influenced by American movies and tv shows. Here where I live (Sardinia), however, we have a very long and strong tradition for the first two days of November, where children knock on every door asking for something for the souls of the deceased. In the old days the would receive tangerines, nuts and small coins; these days they get candies, chocolates, sweets and cookies, and coins of course. Mostly those two days are dedicated to visiting the graves of the loved ones that have already left this world, so graveyards are beautiful, all adorned with bright and lovely flowers; everyone travels to their hometowns to pay respects to deceased family. And here in Sardinia we have some very special sweets we make for these festivities (Nov. 1 is a holiday here in Italy, All Saints’), which are called papassinos and look a bit like scones, though in diamond shape (also taste a bit different), which contain walnut, almond and hazelnut chunks as well as raisins and citrus peel in the dough. We have the version with icing on top and without icing. They taste yummy! Can’t wait for the end of the month 😂
Autumn is a reward for having survived summer. In this October week in central Virginia we’ve had temperature 70’s, an entire evening of thunderstorms, and a cold front will drop us to the low 30’s by mid week. I enjoy the diversity, the colors are stunning, and we too are beginning to heat with the wood stove. Oh Joy! Yeah for Dan’s healing.

That was a lovely sunset we had last night. 😍 and I had a nice walk to and from town shopping yesterday with all the lovely colours of the trees and leaves. 🍁🍂🌳 I even got a few more bargains in the charity shops again in town. I love that you put your kids' "Mock'Donalds" meal in boxes and on trays. So fun. I'm in the states (Texas) and we love Halloween! We decorate the inside and outside of our house and will soon get some pumpkins to set out. Unfortunately, it's still too warm to carve pumpkins until the day before. What a bummer. But we'll carve some and roast the seeds. We are also working on our kids' costumes. The older they get (10 & 13) the less sewing I do and more 3D printing my husband does. I'm a troop leader for both my kids' Girl Scout troops, and the Juniors & Brownie troop (3rd & 5th grades) are having a Halloween-themed meeting this Friday, then the Cadette (7th & 8th grades) are going to Houston Space Center (NASA) for an overnight next weekend! Oh my!
Hi Ali and family. I have just found your channel and I love it to bits. What really got me hooked was the chickens and I love them. In fact I have gone back through all your videos since the day you got your chickens. I am just like you the way I talk to the chicken and glad to know I'm not the only mad women about. We have moved from Berkshire to the countryside in Lincolnshire and got ourselves six chickens. Buffy,Marian, Lucy, Dottie, Lacey and Betsie Boo. They are all different breeds. Like Dan says they are very curious and inquisitive and there is always something different happening everyday with them. Like you say they know their times when they want to be fed they will be waiting by the gate.We have built a large cage on the lawn adjacent to the coop which joins on so they have a lot of space to move as we grow a lot of veg like tom & Barbara the good life. They love warm porridge with water as a treat for their breakfast twice a week. The other mornings they have their pellets but I do it as warm mash. We also have a long chain hanging down which we attach a corn cob or little gem lettuce and they look like they are playing swing ball. I love seeing your chickens and seeing what they get up to. I think they should have their own blog lol. Take care to you all
Glad to hear Dan is doing better! I love growing pumpkins, they're one of my favorite things to grow though they do take up a lot of space. Zucchinis are also great for growing at home bc they're so prolific.
Hi, it’s a butternut squash, it’s too late for it to grow bigger. You cut it and try drying on a window sill . . They need a lot of space and a lot of feeding and planting in a rich manured soil. They need plenty of water as well. Hope this helps. Love your vlogs x

I heard yesterday about the increase in Avian Flu cases here in the UK. I do hope your ladies are alright they always make me smile. The energy balls look yummy. I've just found a recipe I used to make years ago, it's like a tea loaf but instead of the fruit being soaked in tea it's soaked in coffee it contains dates and cherries so that will be made soon when I feel brighter. It'll be mine and my hubby's 23rd anniversary on Halloween! Our family is so much like yours it's kind of crazy. 2 kids, several years apart, ours are just older. 21 and 16, girl and boy, respectively. Sometimes he watches "Dan and Ali" with me on a Sunday morning when I get home from the nightshift at work... If he's up in time 😉 I'll have to try to remember to comment again the night before the big day lol

Halloween's not very big here in Australia, but my Mister 8 is Halloween obsessed, so we put on a display each year, I've bought tons of lollies, so hopefully we don't run out. 🤣
I was hollering at the video Ali that that was a gluten free cake mix you used for fairy cakes! I recognized the pack and feared it would make a disastrous large sponge! My husband Mike is a coeliac so I’ve used them in the past! The texture is more dense than wheat flour and frankly “an acquired taste” I hope the chickens enjoyed the sponge cake though! XX
Every year on Halloween I bake Pillsbury Halloween break and bake cookies but on the night before Halloween my brother and I fill little bags that I buy with different kinds of candy that my mom gets and on Halloween night when trick or treaters come to the door my mom or I give them each a little bag and their faces light up in shock and aw and they say “thank you” then go back to their parents and say “look I got a bag of candy from this house!” 😊
Like this video cheered me up as I fell over onto my knee had it checked out soft tissue injury with badly bruised knee cap possible small hairline fracture of knee cap but they don’t do anything about that just rest the knee bright side I suppose is I get to read more 😂 resting and icing it and no work for the rest of the week …. I forgot to mention yesterday when you were saying about your hair being “wild” ! I don’t know whether it’s an age thing but mine is the same, alway had dead straight hair but this las year it has gone very wavy and nothing will flatten it! I’ve tried all sorts, but here on UA-cam a lady said she never uses conditioner but puts a cupful of Oats in a sauce pan and two cups of water heats up until the water changes colour, then strains. Put the liquid in a bottle, keep in the fridge. Rinse hair with small amount, like a conditioner and the rinse again, condition with any conditioner you use, rinse, sounds a lot but it only one more rinse ! How many time can I say rinse! 😂 do you know what it worked! Still a little wavy but no where near as wild as before, give it a go very natural remedy (I have thick hair also) love& hugs Suze. ❤ xxx
The good bits of cake mixed with a little loose icing would make great cake pops or truffles if you mix it with your biscuit spread and dip in chocolate or something similar

Not really Halloween but fallish. We enjoy going on a road to Nashville Indiana. This little town full of shops of all kinds and food places and enjoy the trees on the drive there and back. Stop at a pumpkin patch for pumpkins of all kinds.
Halloween in Canada is much the same as it is in the States. It's a lovely time of year, especially if it isn't too cold and there isn't any snow 🌨. I'm loving your vlogs and am contemplating picking up an old pattern that I'd given up on xox
Another use for dates is a Caramel sauce I've seen on pinterest. It looks delicious. Watching your chickens is fun. A cozy evening watching TV sounds fabulous. 😁
Told my MD if he puts me on high dose steroids again he needs to keep bail money handy.My butternut squashes don't get any further than yours, except one year got egg sized ripe looking one. Maybe need to start them inside a few wks. I use chopped dates in oatmeal or pancakes with the just about over banana mushed in. Aldi used to have them so cheap but now more than double. 😒 googled fairy cakes, interesting. don't like cupcakes but have big muffin tins, not little ones fairy cakes call for.
When I first came to live in Spain 30 years ago, there were no Hallowe'en celebrations as such; but now, predictably, the US interpretation of it is becoming more and more present. Personally, I don't like it. I find it crass and tacky and an excuse to flood the market with tonnes of tat that will probably go straight into landfill. 😖 I much prefer the traditional Samhain celebration, much closer to nature and the shifting seasons and connecting with our ancestors. 🧙

Not really Halloween but fallish. We enjoy going on a road to Nashville Indiana. This little town full of shops of all kinds and food places and enjoy the trees on the drive there and back. Stop at a pumpkin patch for pumpkins of all kinds.
Halloween in Canada is much the same as it is in the States. It's a lovely time of year, especially if it isn't too cold and there isn't any snow 🌨. I'm loving your vlogs and am contemplating picking up an old pattern that I'd given up on xox
Another use for dates is a Caramel sauce I've seen on pinterest. It looks delicious. Watching your chickens is fun. A cozy evening watching TV sounds fabulous. 😁

Told my MD if he puts me on high dose steroids again he needs to keep bail money handy.My butternut squashes don't get any further than yours, except one year got egg sized ripe looking one. Maybe need to start them inside a few wks. I use chopped dates in oatmeal or pancakes with the just about over banana mushed in. Aldi used to have them so cheap but now more than double. 😒 googled fairy cakes, interesting. don't like cupcakes but have big muffin tins, not little ones fairy cakes call for.

When I first came to live in Spain 30 years ago, there were no Hallowe'en celebrations as such; but now, predictably, the US interpretation of it is becoming more and more present. Personally, I don't like it. I find it crass and tacky and an excuse to flood the market with tonnes of tat that will probably go straight into landfill. 😖 I much prefer the traditional Samhain celebration, much closer to nature and the shifting seasons and connecting with our ancestors. 🧙
What do we do for Halloween…? Avoid it like the plague ! 🤮
