Thank you for the walk-thru. I’ve inherited a 2009 access cab, and have been cleaning out mouse pee and poop from multiple areas. Thought I had it all, but couldn’t get rid of the smell, no matter what I tried. This will allow me to get “inside,” and look for areas I haven’t gotten to yet.
I want to share an idea to add to this procedure. The suggested steps worked great, and to help for a future console carpet pad removal I will dill two holes for a white tie wrap to fit right beneath the stretch net. The tie wrap I’ll make a pull ring or tab to lift the quickly.
Very nice job. I needed to do it to find a loose screw down inside left from a shop that installed a backup camera. The rattling had been driving me crazy! For me, taking the top part out was not easy - I had to use a chisel and hammer to start prying up the front. All OK after that.
@@Thelegoman901 does the part have a specific name? All I’m seeing on eBay is painted frames which go on top😭 it’s not a deal breaker but if I could find the part for cheap might as well put it on right🤣
Is there a way to get a smaller tighter center console cover so it frees up room and enables easier access to hopping in the back area? I got plans to remove back bench completely and want to get rid of center console and see if I can make that whole area more open for storeage of camping stuff and tools but with room to move around in better
meckleboy not that I’m aware of. You could maybe build an aluminum shell to just cover the inverter and shift linkage. Other than that I don’t think there’s much aftermarket wise
AwesomeAddict Yeah I figured that I couldn’t find anything online except replacement armrest storage stuff. If I was a better craftsman and had experience with maybe fiberglass I could do something that would be curved and very shallow to cover the area and just do some carpet on top of it otherwise I guess there’s always the possibility of woodworking Open the area to make it a little more accessible. Thanks for the feedback
@@Thelegoman901 I found out the hard way that not all Tacomas are created equal 😑 I got a center console 😁 only to find out it doesn’t fit 😭😭😭 future summer project I’m determined to make it fit lol
Not 100% on that. Haven’t taken apart a standard center console before. I would imagine it’s identical minus the removal of the shifter. Hope this answers your question!!
Just what I needed to replace the shifter bushing, thank you!!
Nice video, straight to the point without unnecessary bs. Thanks!
Exactly what I needed! Saved me money I can put toward heating oil!!!
A pull tab for that carpet would of been nice Toyota.
You are a Prince T-Rex, a gentleman and a scholar.
About to pull my 2005 interior to change the carpet and reupholster the seats…thanks!

Will this console fit on a single cab automatic? I want to install separate seats
You know why you’re hear you clicked on the video, continues to explain why I’m here 😂
Thanks!
Thanks
My 2012 Toyota tacoma is missing the cover so you can see inside the gear box do you know where I can find the little cover you took off?
I would suggest eBay. You can more than likely still get them brand new from Toyota but they cost a fortune compared to used

meckleboy no problem. Just if you’re Tacoma comes with a power inverter. Make sure to leave vent holes for it
Is it possible to put this console in a regular cab? Recently swapped the bench for buckets & have that gap in the middle 😅
Not sure. Haven’t attempted it, if the bolt holes line up I wouldn’t see why not

Does this apply for the 5 speed shifter to

I have to ask. What was your reason for pulling out the console?
Officer MustardMan Simply for the video
How is your T Rex buddy?
Dave Wilson I’m doing great. Thanks for asking 😂
Is it different if it's a Manual 6 speed ?
Not quite sure. I’d imagine you’d still take of the shift knob and remove the center trim
my light on and off by himself you what happen? im gonna need to take my cover out to see to wires
You know how removal the pieze around the radio!
Nelson Rosales Pull towards you starting down by the A/C controls
