Thanks for exploring my third map! Once again I’m astounded at how well you were able to interpret my creations, it’s always great watching these videos ^^. Since you asked, my ideas mostly come from my dreams but also ever since ai generated images became good enough they too serve me as a sort of inspiration. After all that’s the theme of the Liminal Gallery - a human habitat generated by an ai knowing nothing about humanity.
Hey dude, wanted to say I love every map you've made and are there plans for a fourth installment? I've been on a liminal binge as of late and these really give me that fix.
You know what? No! When life gives you melons, don’t make melonade. Make life take the melons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn melons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give me melons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the melons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible melon that burns your house down!

These are the type of gm liminal maps I absolutely love. Just starts off by exploring an odd but slightly peaceful space and the more you explore the more you notice that you’re actually being followed and watched. Makes it even better when the thing following you is never fully visible. You either catch a slight glimpse from the corner of your eye or it’s hidden so well that you don’t even see it in the first place.
37:00 Antichamber reference! 48:30 Reminds me of the stanley parable, which i know is also in one of the previous maps. Credits are also very stanley parable.
"Maybe im an emaciated monster and that's why people are running" Thats a very cool thought I think it might be you opening fire into empty rooms and at inanimate objects while talking to melons about the vibe XD
48:22 Alright, idk if it's just me but the way it looks just straight up looks like it came from Stanley Parable. Like, it feels like it could be a small level for Stanley Parable. And, i can somehow hear the Narrator saying "Oh no, no, no! You can't see this yet. This is underdeveloped. Go! Shoo! Shoo! Move to the opposite direction Stanley!"
Man I fucking love your VR videos, actual balls of steel to play through these maps Also the moment at 1:18:38 so epic dude, love how you went from exploring to full on just fighting the ghost, and then a very nice ending Love you Librarian ❤
The house part (starting about 22:00) somehow reminded me of one of my very own recurring childhood dreams/nightmares. In it, I was in a semi-familiar mansion, composed of unnaturally extensive and mazelike hallways with either light wallpaper or 70s wood panelling. It was very vertical too, with lots of stairs going up and down in random places. The lighting was from occasional hanging bare lightbulbs or indirect sunlight from weirdly tiny and highly-placed windows, with dim spaces in between. I would just be wandering around for a while, until I start feeling an anxious need to find something. Eventually I find it by descending some stairs into a cluttered basement room, lit by natural light from two basement windows. Against the wall alongside shelves and drawers is a steamer trunk, which gives off such an aura of evil and inspires so much inexplicable terror in me that the dream ends and I wake up.
1:19:29 This entity reminds me of another entity that lives in a similar place in ULTRAKILL, it's name is "Something Wicked" 1:20:30 speaking of ULTRAKILL, this place gives me Limbo vibes
Oh, you've really got to keep your eye on those sneaky little melons! They really are a seedy bunch of trouble makers. LOL :) Thanks for the video, and your perspectives on it, as usual.
When you were talking about the music at 4:29 the only thing I could think of while listening to it, was the music on the record player from GM_LiminalHotel, albeit the piano was a lot more prominent in that record.
Somebody should totally make an Alice in Wonderland inspired map for the librarian. Especially if it had it's own version of The Madhatter and tea party. 😹💜
I love when something doesn't go according to expectation or plans and we get the classic "wHAT ARE you dOING THAT IS NOT NOrMAL" from librarian. Gives me a lil chuckle every time.
1:12:10 that hilarious little wink from the map creator letting you know that they know you know what's about to happen because it doesn't matter you still have to turn around anyway!
Finally got time but no need to give timestamps it seems lol at 51:19 though edit: they see me rollin 56:45 1:00:50 honestly its getting you so good I might need to make them anyways 1:04:57 that ver much reminds me of the old ghost mansion game, good times 1:10:45 I think you might need to upgrade to safety nukes 1:16:06 I fcking love this map creator 1:17:45 Oh no, not Darwin! 1:20:10 And he got you anyways 1:24:00 Oh thats cool, your very own library
I move that all mapmakers and game designers immediately begin implementing parallel areas into each of their games SPECIFICALLY to make Librarian feel like he’s losing his mind.
I love your videos and sometimes i just pretend to talk to you, mainly because you talk as if your viewers are in a discord call with you, so thanks for making me feel better !
I like the progression that these maps have had, specifically in reference to the setting and the antagonist. The first map was an actual liminal gallery, and Phillip Jeffries was found or being studied there before transfer to a proper facility. The second map takes place in that facility, where Phillip Jeffries runs amok but also leads and stalks the player to some of the other weird spots in that place. Indeed, the third map appears to call back to both of these locations in its first couple elevator trips. Now, with the beginning of this map using a fakeout callback to Phillip's cage followed by the entity itself dramatically appearing right in front of the player, it's clear the dynamic has shifted. Phillip Jeffries is in control of this situation, and you will go where it wants you to go and see what it wants you to see. Judging by comments that have made it later in the video than me, it seems that's also come with a more physical threat after its patience grows thin. Though whether that threat is Phillip, something Phillip led you to, or just something from this strange liminal realm is a whole other quandary, likely without an answer.
I've had a dream with the place at 1:23:05 a while ago and it is very surreal to see it again after such a long time. I still have faint memories of it and this just made it come to life. Such an incredible map and a massive evolution from the previous two. Great Job!
Hey I remember liminal gallery and liminal gallery 2! Glad to see the creator is still making maps, they were some of my fave liminal space maps I've seen you cover on here. The creator absolutely nails the Liminal feel with all the weird, 'pointless', lonely structures all winding around themselves. Also, Omg, the melons... I forgot about them... LOL
I do not know how to feel about the music in the background it is made by erik satie if I remember correctly but he has always had blissful music for instance one you might have heard at least once in your life is "lent et douloureux" which in English means slow and painful if you have not heard the song then you may want to hear it. Erik Satie songs have always been one of misfortune and bliss and the man was known to be weird one I mean he made his own church at one point and had a hearty appetite if I remember correctly he ate an omelet that had a total of 50 eggs.
FYI: the piano piece that plays in the rollerink-esque area is Gnossiene No. 1 by Erik Satie, which has been used in countless horror story narrations, you've likely used it yourself in one of your narrations :)
"It's almost like an eager audience is watching me move towards some fate that they can't wait to see me experience." Well yeah. That's us here on UA-cam. :)
Don't worry, you aren't going mad. I checked. The statue appearing happened as soon as the second lightning flash occurred. However, 41:49, the elevator did appear. I went back and you stared at the blank wall where the elevator is at this point. This map is very unnerving.
My interpretation of 43:00 is that it is a corruption of childhood due to age. Like looking back on happy memories as an adult and realizing some of the things you didn't understand at the time. Like your childhood is crashing down around you. Or rotting away as you grow to be an adult maybe.
Honestly, I played through this map, and reached the part at 1:10:00 in the video, and I actually kinda found it amusing when I encountered the dude in the doorway bit. Only because, since I was in desktop, I could zoom in, and I realized, it's just the charred corpse model in a weird pose lol. However the weird eye creature spindly thing... sent shivers down my spine in the hallway segment before you get dropped down into the one area. Which is to say, that after you go into the hallway a certain amount, mr. creepy chases you slowly down the hallway. Basically prompting you into falling into the pit. The only reason I know this is cause since I have double jump, which also comes with wall climbing, I ended up... kinda skipping the pit somewhat. And I had turned around after figuring that the door wouldn't open, and of which when I saw him, that's when he spooked me most. Obviously I was a bit unsettled by the noise in the one area.
I always like to think which room in these liminal maps would be the best place to setup a base if I were trapped there, those last couple areas were excellent for that.
From 18:53 - 18:59 and 19:35, I had a strong electrical feeling similar to what I've had on RP_Downtown_V2, makes me wonder what in the world the map maker had been fucking around with supernaturally whilst making the map considering this is the only other time I've ever had a feeling like that in regards to a Gmod map.
Thanks for exploring my third map! Once again I’m astounded at how well you were able to interpret my creations, it’s always great watching these videos ^^. 48:21 Oh hey! That's a place from The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe with a button that says your name!
*jim*
A couple of spots seemed to be inspired by _Antichamber,_ especially the red/blue staircases.
Exactly! That was my same thought. Too bad not many people know of that game…
Man I gotta replay that. It's been years and I don't even remember that bit.
"Maybe im an emaciated monster and that's why people are running"
Thats a very cool thought
I think it might be you opening fire into empty rooms and at inanimate objects while talking to melons about the vibe XD
I think that it looks really similar to the jim button room
@@vl.u2657 oh yeah, now that you mention it.
It actually does look like it.
Man I fucking love your VR videos, actual balls of steel to play through these maps
Also the moment at 1:18:38 so epic dude, love how you went from exploring to full on just fighting the ghost, and then a very nice ending
Love you Librarian ❤
This is definitely the most masterful Map yet and the best episode of GMOD VR; what a wild ride!
Before I drink a tall glass of melonade, I like to eat about 147 Fluffy Puff Marshmallows.
I was looking for a HsR comment as soon as I read the title of the map lmao. Thanks for your contribution to my expectations
I switched my playermodel to Homestar when I played the map
Around 1:16:28 I saw a friend. Totally unnoticed. Brr.
Lovely map to watch, though!
the cyclope dude that looks like an eclypse combined with seek from doors? i saw it too
The house part (starting about 22:00) somehow reminded me of one of my very own recurring childhood dreams/nightmares.
34:02 The *Librarian* in his natural habitat: a liminal library. Lol.
1:19:29 This entity reminds me of another entity that lives in a similar place in ULTRAKILL, it's name is "Something Wicked"
1:20:30 speaking of ULTRAKILL, this place gives me Limbo vibes
gives me more Dev Museum vibes honestly
@@sussy6905 oh yea, you're right!
You know it's gonna be a good day when the libraribrarbian posts a liminal space video
The Liberal makes the best uploads
I hope the Libyarian's channel keeps growing
cant wait for the liberian to reach the big double square root of 1 to the 10 zeros
Uploads from The Labia really make my day!
@@Crescnt-Mage love new The Labor videos 😊
So insanely hard to take something being called Phillip, seriously
Please never stop doing these videos man keep up the good work
they keep my sanity intact fr
Love how he struggles to crouch, but when it comes to pulling out that glock, he'd do it in a flash.
Oh, you've really got to keep your eye on those sneaky little melons! They really are a seedy bunch of trouble makers. LOL :) Thanks for the video, and your perspectives on it, as usual.
You should definitely play the Stanley Parable.
When you were talking about the music at 4:29 the only thing I could think of while listening to it, was the music on the record player from GM_LiminalHotel, albeit the piano was a lot more prominent in that record.
Yo! this one's huge!
37:18 That Looping area was MASTERFUL,
The looping area seems to be a reference to Antichamber.
34:33 The Librarian is a fitting name for a Lovecraftian God that inhabit a liminal library
1:12:10 that hilarious little wink from the map creator letting you know that they know you know what's about to happen because it doesn't matter you still have to turn around anyway!
49:04 No wonder that melon is getting cornered. That is a very motivated chair.
Finally got time but no need to give timestamps it seems
lol at 51:19 though
edit: they see me rollin 56:45
1:00:50 honestly its getting you so good I might need to make them anyways
1:04:57 that ver much reminds me of the old ghost mansion game, good times
1:10:45 I think you might need to upgrade to safety nukes
1:16:06 I fcking love this map creator
1:17:45 Oh no, not Darwin!
1:20:10 And he got you anyways
1:24:00 Oh thats cool, your very own library
These types of GMod maps are my favourite! Liminal spaces are still so interesting to me! Thank you for the great new video, Librarian! 😃
I love watching these nearly 2h long videos at 3am when I can't sleep but need something to distract myself until breakfast, great video Librarian!
Maybe it’s like Andy’s toys, the Melons only move when people aren’t watching
It's funny how low-res the eyeball man actually is
The song at the beginning sounds like Erik Satie's Gnossienne No.1! One of my favorite songs of all time, in a liminal space map??? Yes please!
1:00:58 The melon and the chair where setting there beef and the melon tackled the chair through the window.
You should really get yourself a safety Glock with a tactical light attached, so you don't have to choose between vision and defense anymore.
40:03 - greatest quote from this video by far!
32:44
like a wise man once said:
"bro has officially lost it💀"
48:46 holy crap it's the jim room from the stanley parable ultra deluxe!
Tears of the Kingdom AND a Librarian VR episode on the same day?!
I'll never NOT be able to hear the word "Melonade" in Homestar Runner's voice
Exactly
41:35 He kinda sounds like Strong Sad
I move that all mapmakers and game designers immediately begin implementing parallel areas into each of their games SPECIFICALLY to make Librarian feel like he’s losing his mind.
I love your videos and sometimes i just pretend to talk to you, mainly because you talk as if your viewers are in a discord call with you, so thanks for making me feel better !
whats worse then thinking you missed all of your shots?
realizing you didnt and what you were shooting at didnt even flinch
LOL
20:40 Librarian recording his crimes
The melons are aggressive.
Nostalgia feeling. AND I LOVE IT!
One horror game I'm surprised you have yet to cover on your channel is At Dead of Night. You should check it out if you haven't already.
Hello librarian I’ve been watching your videos for a VERY long time, keep up the good work!
Love you videos!
Candle man has returned.
1:19:10 Okay, but can we talk about how smooth that reload was?
FYI: the piano piece that plays in the rollerink-esque area is Gnossiene No. 1 by Erik Satie, which has been used in countless horror story narrations, you've likely used it yourself in one of your narrations :)
37:20 reminds me of antichamber
I love seeing librarian slowly get consumed by dread
lol
"It's almost like an eager audience is watching me move towards some fate that they can't wait to see me experience."
Well yeah. That's us here on UA-cam. :)
Gmod videos are a W
I can't believe you haven't played Layers of Fear yet, it is literally right up your alley!
While I'm miffed at Bloober Team's treatment of certain subjects, I still second this. Layers of Fear is Librarian-core.
OMG at 1:15:19 for barely half a second you can see some sort of creature with a huge glowing eye
This was an existential roller coaster and I LOVED it.
You should try playing through superliminal! Really cool game set in a dream with all kinds of liminal stuff
Great video 👍🏻 (as usual)
This gameplay looks great. I don’t know if you have finally concord your fears yet.
The library reminds me of the levels in ECHO, especially the later golden levels.
Video 1 of asking the Librarian to play Superliminal
That safety glock thing really ruined the atmosphere but other than that it was a great video and an amazing map!
I always like to think which room in these liminal maps would be the best place to setup a base if I were trapped there, those last couple areas were excellent for that.
Liberian the watermelons like this 🍉👁️👁️🍉
1:15:19 damn really something spawns on his face and he doesn't realize
1:16:28 i wish he realize, those would be wild screams
What a superb map but I couldn't help but feel the absence of one very key thing since it was made for the Librarian. Where was Horror Baby?
From 18:53 - 18:59 and 19:35, I had a strong electrical feeling similar to what I've had on RP_Downtown_V2, makes me wonder what in the world the map maker had been fucking around with supernaturally whilst making the map considering this is the only other time I've ever had a feeling like that in regards to a Gmod map.
This reminds me alot of portal and portal 2 architecture
i found you again!!!! NICE!
i was looking 4 u man!, nice to see your channel again!
one of these days i want to see you not have to pull out the safety glock
but have to pull out the safety BFG9000
assuming there even is a bfg9000 mod
Always love watching your vids
I love your GM videos❤
Librarian! You should explore Union City or NY City! They're both maps related to rp_southside that you explored previously.
Bro this guy is doing his best
Eerie. Very very eerie
Drown melons. Curbstomp melons. Slice melons in half. Throw melons into a blender. Cut melons into pieces.
Now it's time for safety Glock. -proceeds to empty clip-
Mr. Librarian, may I suggest a game called Superliminal? It's a puzzle game, around 2 hours long. feel like you would get a kick out of it.
Yes! I love these videos they are so enjoyable
i think the music you were talking about at the start was using in imscared? iirc i heard it being used in the steam ver as well for the title screen.
I guess you shot a few dead bodies again, huh. Your comment on the gore was spot-on then
for a second I thought he missed the note, I guess I just didn't realize how to access it normally.
