- Can you hear a rattle under your BMW. It might not be just a heat shield. Unfortunately once again I have a problem with my BMW. Will BMW resolve this issue, only time will tell. Let me know if you think I'm right?

My m135i ewg does the same, if you get a screw driver on the wastegate linkage the noise stops. I think it's caused by the bushes on the wastegate arm have worn slightly. The only way to get rid of the noise is to have new linkage fitted.
The other problem might be that the nuts slightly come loose.

My money is on the wastegate actuator arm rattling, not the wastegate itself.

I have the same problem on my F10 M5 and I think it sounds even worse than yours, I thought it was something loose so I’ve been inspecting every single inch in the exhausts but no, it comes from underneath the engine, I’m out of warranty so I’m starting to wrap my head around the idea to just live with it.
Unfortunately I haven’t heard of a fix to this issue. Luckily, I don’t think it can break a car, it’s just annoying. I just accepted the sound is there.
@@MDrives I’m just worried that the rattle is due to a bad bushing in one of the flaps, or both, if that’s the case, then there’s a bigger problem than the rattle, the flaps could not be sealing properly and thus, the turbos are not receiving proper pressure, leading to a power loss
Try spraying some wd40 on your bottom pulley you'll hear that noise in the same area if the bearing as gone on your pulley it sounds like it to 👍

I have a Fiesta ST-3 Turbo and it has the exact same issue. Wastegate rattling when at lower revs.

i have a bmw 335i with a super bad rattle, and everytime i try and ask a mechanic to just change the piece they keep telling me its a turbo failure when im not losing any boost, how could i tell if its wastegate or heat shield
I think you would know. Westgate it’s more of a ringing jingling noise where heat shield is more of a vibrating lose metal sound. Difficult to explain.
To find out if it‘s your turbo rattling, just turn it off and see if the vibrating sound still exists. That‘s how i did it. As soon as the turbo was off the vibrating sound was gone. Greetings
Thanks but it’s not a turbo itself, it’s the wastegate valve.

Vw motors hsve the same issue of wastegate rattle, its the arm of thr wastegate, theres a clip from vw maybe it helpd to solve the Problem, wastegate clip vw number 06J 145 220A

Hi, yeah it is probably wastegate, but try to also do more research if it is not going from the engine itself and also the wastegate rattle should be hearable from the exhaust tips , directly from the exhaust (as it has fuction as a amplifier)...
I have a Veloster 2019+ turbo it rattled exactly like this sounds. I heard it doesn’t affect the car if I leave it alone, it’s just annoying ig?! If someone can inform plz?
Not sure if they have the same issue but in bmw it usually only vibrates and doesn’t cause any issues.
Have same thing on f55 mini, cooper s. Took 3 visits to the garage to find the issue after being fobbed off

Niestety nie. BMW wymieniało całe turbo z kolektorem ale po paru miesiącach wiele ludzi znów miało ten sam problem.

What a surprise! They’ve done it on multiple occasions to me.
Same here! I think the dealer is deliberately obtuse much of the time. Had to FIGHT with them just to get a tire replaced for a consistent slow leak.

Hi. It doesn’t increase. You can only hear it when you lift off as the valve in turbo opens.

My 330i has this rattling noise when pressing the accelerator and while driving slowly, but both while car is idle.

No point spending money on it. It won’t break the car.
I also have a rattle l, but it's not this. Sounds completely different. Welp.. Guess I'll have to keep on searching.

Not wastegate … it’ll only rattle on start up and when you boost and left off

@@MDrives they’re shotgun blasting only . I never seen a waste gate rattle unless it’s leaking . I have own turbo cars all my life . I have never seen one rattle at idling .
