Hey everyone, this is Alpaco and this is how to fix cheap micro four third smart electronic adapters.
Most cheap adapters are made with very low-quality control. But they are very cheap so I usually expect these things to happen.
The most common problem with these adapters is the fact that you can’t actually use them out of the box. There is zero communication between the lens you’re adapting and the camera. Rendering them essentially useless.
The problem is typically caused by the locking pin on the camera not being able to fully extend. It sounds like it extends completely and feels like it. But there isn’t actually enough room on the mount itself.
To fix this problem. Take the mount off the adapter with a small screwdriver. I won’t bore you with showing you every second of this.
Next, drill a hole where the locking pin goes through.
You probably don’t want to use your foot to hold the mount down while you’re drilling.
I didn’t have a smaller drill bit, so I just used what I had. It’s not really a big deal to me.
Now, with the hole large enough for the locking pin to extend. The lens communicates with the camera and all available features work as intended.

I have one of the ones olympus made I use for the glorious 50mm 2.0 lenses that gives youauto focus. Probably one of the sharpest lenses olympus ever made.

How is your focusing speed with it? Mine Olympus MMF-1 on Panasonic GH5 takes 3 sec to focus, very discouraging. But you are using EM1 II , which has a special electronics to focus faster with 4/3 lenses

My cheap adapter damaged the lens mount. Sent it back and bought the Olympus one.
I made the hole in the adapter but the camera still won’t read the lens :( it’s the same lens type you have but the 40-150 Olympus digital, any other tricks that may help? I also noticed that if I take the lens off but keep the adapter on the camera will still be able to keep the sensor on but the moment I hear a click from the lens side of the adapter the camera blanks out
A bit rough as a method, but OK it seems to work. A yes these are really poor quality adapters (bought mine on aliexpress). Filed a complaint. The seller denied the problem. And aliexpress said they were right!!! So my advice would be: don't buy on aliexpress anymore. Just a mafia of crooks. With almost western prices in addition. Double crooks.
