Great video. Love my Ram 1500 but definitely not cold enough and does not blow anywhere as hard as my Explorer did. Not sure why the Ram guys don't get with a Ford engineer on how to put in great AC. Nice and hot here in Texas and we need our AC! :)
Thanks for sharing
After trying with Dealerships to get my AC fix… and not getting a great response, I decided to look for an answer on my own and came across several videos like this… and don’t have the kit yet, is on its way, but I temporarily clamped the hose with needle clamp pliers and it worked. 😅 thank you for the info.
No problem friend.
Where do you purchase the kit
Been doing this since 2000 with my '01 2500 and getting ready to do it on my 4g as well as soon as I replace the airbox with the Laramie dual zone box. Don't need any special kit, just run down to your local hardware store.
I think the issue with these 5g is the coolant flowing to the heater core makes it hard for ac to get cold.
All you have to do is make one cut. Put the part in and you’re done. Only need 2 clamps as well
Easy peasy!
I appreciate your elaborate video Brother. I need this for my truck, too.
Thanks for watching friend!
I have a 2023, it cools surprisingly well on hot days, guess they fixed these issues. I keep mine in automatic mode. It should only allow coolant to the heater core if the temperature gets to the setpoint or below.
The fix works very well!
Is this a diesel only issue, or is it also a problem with hemis? I have the 6.4 and I can’t get the air any colder than 50 degrees, morning or afternoon. Sucks here in Vegas.
It’s a problem with all HDs. Limited to some light duties depending on build date. Dealer repair requires entire dash to be removed. Labor intensive and this fix is a decent solution for less than $30
You’re right about removing it. My local dealer asked about it when i brought it in for service. Said it was restricting cooling to the back side of the cylinders. They suggested that i remove it. Makes no sense to me.. no sense
Yeah no real good fox except tear the dash apart and “try” to fix the issue, this fox is the next best thing!
Semis have these "heat taps". Never would have thought to add one on my pickup
It's a pretty easy fix!
I gotta 2020 and for the first 4 yrs the AC was so cold I could never leave it on Lo. But it hasn’t been feeling right I hope it’s not a project fix
It’s not a project but it takes less than 30 mins.
@@DeLoEnterprises thank you. Is the engine compartment set up different from hemi to 1500?
I have a 2022 Ram 1500 5.7 Limited Ice cold A/C Even with a freezer on the back floorboard I have to turn it down after a few minutes My windows have ceramic 3M Tint works great
I’ve got Llumar ceramic as well.
after you did this you had any issues with ac at all?
Nope blows cold!
If you are blocking the antifreeze from going to the heater core then how do the antifreeze recirculate through the bottom hose that goes to the heater core?
It’s essentially a block off system. Once closed it simply recirculates through the rest of the system. If you keep the valve slightly cracked open your AC is improved but still not crazy cool. A small amount of coolant will get to the heater core then reintroduced into the rest of the system after.
If it’s not going in it doesn’t have to come out right
Anyone have a 3.6 hybrid ram 1500 and can help me where do I put this!
Coolant line going to cabin heater core.
Thanks for answering my question haha
Does this affect the 3.6l pentastar also?
Possibly, it’s mostly all the same system. Not 100% sure however.
@delo Enterprises Nice, how is the AC coolness now in the heat, any troubles, Engine, Transmission Okay? Thanks
No engine trouble, i'm running a thermal bypass for the trans so it runs nice and cool!
@@DeLoEnterprises Glad you're lucky, as many reported it leaking coolant, hence am scared to even think about it, any trick to prevent it from leaking as them clamps are flimsy.
2019 rebel ac sucks. 65k for this truck and its never been cold
True, gotta get Muzzy AC hack amzn.to/44wNT39
2019 ram 1500... rear diff cap fell out during a move while i was in the middle of nowhere and caused rear diff failure at 46500 km. 2 months waiting for part then had the truck towed to me 5hrs from where i broke down. Immediate noise after warranty repair. They told me to keep driving it a week and come back. 3 days later it blew again. Next dealership... 6 weeks to fix the rear diff. Fixed but now 4 x 4 makes bad noises. Now at 47500 km my ac doeant blow cold. I have 1 year left on warranty and im trying to sell my truck. Hell.. u dont drive these new trucks for a week and a half and the battery dies from all the fancy components you dont need. Ram is garbage!
@Mdmoher you didn't but it new and I bet you don't have all the upgrades.
@@Mdmoher imagine thinking all 2019 rebel are the same lol
This will make the ac blow cold but is there any way to make it blow harder? I just purchased 19 deleted with 52k on it. Doesn’t blow very cold or hard. Cabin filter was replaced in February.
Not harder but colder yes!
@@DeLoEnterprises do you know of anyway to make it blow harder? I’m already ordering the part. I just know I go from my ram to my company Chevy and the power difference between the ac is ridiculous.
@@trevarpeekreally to get it to blow harder sometimes you have to play with the settings. Go to 60 instead of low, and hit auto instead of the fan on 7. I don’t know why but it will blow harder that way sometimes. You’d think the fan on max would blow the hardest but it doesn’t always.
@@trevarpeekcheck ac evaporator it’s probably clogged up
Do you think the 2022 jeep wagoneer has the same ac fault? Its the same engine
Possibly but not 100% sure.
Scrolling through this.
I looked up a TSB for my 2022 Ram 2500. It sometimes runs cold but I know for a fact it should be cooler given the other cars I drive.
I called Chrysler, they didn’t have any details on it.
Do you know of the TSB number for it?
I just ordered mine, and told Chrysler I have a fix but don’t want to void the warranty.
Dealers are hesitant to fix this under TSB warranty because it's labor intensive. Only want to do the work when you're out of warranty because they can charge ya!
What's the TSB for the 22 Rams? I have not been able to find it. My 22 Ram 2500 6.4 ac is horrible and I just got this hack but haven't installed it yet.
I cant remember what it's numbered but dealers are a little hesitant to work on it as it's labor intensive!
Have a 2020 in Texas am always bitching about the AC being weak - is there any fallout to shutting this off? Seems odd - but I’m not a pro car guy
NONE
@@DeLoEnterprises nice! Just order it - thanks for the video!
have u found a fix? I just got a 2020 ram and the ac is weak even on highest setting
If you only wanted half the hose then why didn't you cut the new rubber pipe in half?
I wanted to make sure the standpipe had enough room to fit, I wasn't wanting to chance it!
FYI - now also includes the 24 models. Worst A/C ever!
Yeah it’s horrible.
Yes, the problem exists on the 2024. I had a 2016 Laramie & the A/c was awesome.
Now,
2024 limited 6.7. air conditioning is weak at best. I only have 2000kms and it’s unacceptable.
I’ve tried auto, manual , adjust temp up & down.
Took it to the dealership today and asked about any tsb’s that might be out there. Blank stare..he asked like there has never been a problem with the gen 5 trucks A/C.
It’s too late for me but future buyers “Beware!”
So did u measure temps with open vs closed?
Not with a thermometer but it’s a massive noticeable difference.
@DeLoEnterprises so why the kit why not just cut the hose for the valve to fit and clamp? Am I missing something?
Have you had any issues since installing in almost a year ago?
Not a single one!
Would this help a 2016? I have the same problem, it's very hot in the dash, on 110 degree day, even with the system off
It could. Depends on the heater core hose layout. It’s worth a shot.
where is the 2019 TSB so i can read it?
Not sure the number but dealers are tight lipped about it!
Anyone else get the I/C coolant low light appear on their dash after installing?
Yes you loose some and air gets in the line, fill er up and you should be okay, also parking on an incline will make that message pop up!
When you installed, did red clear liquid come out? I believe it's coolant, but I've never seen this color before. Smelled sweet.
@@DeLoEnterprisesI've never had that light. Will that light be a continuous problem on inclines if I install this?
@@DWillK2C Yes, the coolant is red on Rams.
Doing those does it cut coolant flow to the turbo?
No just the heater core.
I had a 2019 3500 and the AC was so..... bad; changed to a 2021 2500, still the same, better when it's not hot. But Texas got to 110 these days and everyone in the truck fell hot, I have bought the valve and pipe for 3500 but not installed, just find out and put it on 2500. You have deleted and worry about warranty? Haha!
This is a much needed fix!
I cut two inches of the supplied hose. Have you left the shut off valve off completely ever since you installed this? Or are you driving with it crack open?
I open it in the winter/fall keep it cracked 1/2 way in spring and completely closed in the summer.
Dealarships arent hesitant to do that job.....we dont have a choice we are forced to do it
In the beginning I humor the run around from 3 dealers. Parts weren’t available and it was just a TSB not a recall. Not under warranty anymore so it’s the best option.
2500 2020 trash
Thanks!
