    I have 3 Seagull 1963 watches I like them that much. The bronze pilot version, the Sugess Panda version Swan neck feature and the original ZiJuan Chinese Air Force version that you feature here all with Sapphire Crystal. All super reliable these 2 years later.
    The green NATO strap is not well made and swapped out to a nicely crafted teal blue NATO. Sadly the larger 40mm/41mm case model was not available back then so I need to trade the ZiJuan for a larger case size.
    Great video and an epic watch, a mechanica column wheel chronograph watch of this quality at this price is amazin value. I have some serious swiss watches and still enjoy wearing these Seagulls in rotation with my other watches.
    One of my mottos has always been that every guy needs a fantastic watch, a fantastic pair of shoes and a sharp suit. Respect for your fashion choices, fine clothes.

    Love that your review covered more than just wrist shots and specs. Appreciate the touch into fashion and how it paired with different textures and materials on your shirts, as well as the front-on view which gives you a completely different perspective.

    The Seagull 1963 is just an mazing tool watch for travel, may of our team that travel globally have the original plexiglass glass & they beat them up so hard, especially the photographers but they just don't stop & are loved by all watch enthusiasts & collectors I think including myself. Also, big fan of linen shoirts & jackets while traveling in warmer climates, just consider the wrinkles the patina of the clothing so to speak.

    Hi Tim, great video. Hope you had a lovely trip. 3 weeks sounds heavenly, hopefully fully rested and ready to return to "daily life." My wife was watching over my shoulder and said she wishes you were actually an American from the "midwest" just playing this German guy named Tim as an alter-ego... But now I can't "unhear" that, and will probably imagine you that way in the future. Haha, keep up the good work. Cheers.

    The watch is the most important item in my opinion. In case of an emergency, time is the most important unit of measure to keep track of. Also, any analog watch can be used as a compass, as well, to get a general sense of where north and south are. As always, you have a great channel hear that I am sure will peak many more peoples' interest. Fantastic video, my friend.

    Nice watch, this seagull. I have to have a look at those when i‘m in china. I‘m currently on the way towards china with the trans siberian railway.
    But I disagree about the saphire cristal. I realy like the look and feel of acrylic cristals (at leat on my oris and on my speedy). Specially when the cristal is domed the distractions are beautiful. But i have to admit that it‘s prone to scraches. Therefore Polywatch is your friend ;)

    I have the 37mm sapphire version like you because I am clumsy.
    .I have same strap as you.
    I have an Opinel knife in carbon steel, not stainless.
    My stainless knife is Chinese by Sarenmu. Excellent quality.
    My shoes are leather moccasins which I have to wear because I have a bunion joint. I have been everywhere in them.
    I have a linen look jacket from Marks and Spencer. Wrinkle free with added polidamide or something. My bag is an Adidas festival bag from Sonar 2007.
    It refuses to die so I use it everyday for grocery shopping and waterproof coat, writing pads fountain pens etc. I would like a Billingham canvas bag one day.

    A few days ago I arrived finally in China. This afternoon i visited the official Seagull in Beijing in the Orient Plaza Mall.
    And indeed this little watch looks very nice in real life as well. I would have bought it if the price were half decent. But this particular model was priced at 4980 Yuan, which is more than 700.- CHF. That is just just outrageous considering the prices online (including shipment)
    So I will continue traveling with my Hamilton Khaki auto and my G-Shock only. It‘s a pity. It would have been a very nice souvenir.
    Best regars from beyond the big fire wall

    • @CasebackWatches
      @CasebackWatches  5 років тому +1

      So this was the price four tourists, right? ;-) Anyway, the Hamilton Khaki is a great watch.

    • @GuyMrIncognito
      @GuyMrIncognito 5 років тому +1

      I‘m not sure about that. It was on the price tag and the typical customers in this mall seem not to care about a few thousand yuan more or less. Of course most chinese people are not welthy, but those who are sometimes really fortuned.
      Bargaining would might have been possible, but for for sure difficult due to the language barrier.

    I bought three of these for my employees. Seagull 1963. Run the chronometer function otherwise the watch will run slow. I’ll say it again - if you run the watch without the Chronograph function, the watch will not keep accurate time. It will run slow. I mean really slow. Like a half hour slow per day

  • @chinaman1
    @chinaman1 4 роки тому +1

    There are actually 3 different words on the 1963, i am unsure of why,
    - one with 中国。天津 = China . Tianjin (where the factory is located in China)
    - one with 中国制造 = Made in China
    - one with 中国手表广 = China Watch Factory
    I personally prefer the 2nd one, because I always like the words "Made in ..." on my watch or variants of it, like "Swiss Made" etc kind of words on the dial. But mine came with the first variant, and I can't really complain, it's a real beauty. I like it a lot... I wear this more often now than my Omega lol.

    • @timeandnourishment1961
      @timeandnourishment1961 3 роки тому

      Yes, once you get to your destination, any of the watches you mentioned would be better than a Seagull 1963 - things like water resistance and lume for swimming and other activities. But if you're on a plane or a train (actually travelling), the Seagull really stands out more than a Seiko.
      Funny thing: my Seagull chronograph times spaghetti as well my G-Shock, but the Chinese job cost twice as much!
      All the best to you!

    Well, that was a pretty stylish EDC for vacations, with that gear and clothes I wouldn't mind being seen like you described, after all I think is better being confortable and well dressed even in the wild. Love that Two-tones and the Buffalo leather bag... 👍 pretty cool. The 1963 chronograph looks very vintage in the leather strap. Most of your photos in Instagram looks like an 1950's explorers club expedition. My favorite EDC is my Seiko SARB033 in its bracelet and my fountain pen (Lamy 2000 or Pilot Capless) . Nice video 👏, saludos 👍.

    Another treat of a video. Can I ask that you leave some links or if not links the spellings of items like he lovely watch strap or the Seagullnor ? the knife in the video description. Yes google autocorrects most misspellings but surely its better for your channel to have links.
    Also can I say about watches that ( in my opinion ) once I got a few lovely bits and bobs my focus is not always on another watch but on making the most of what I have. At the moment I am absolutely faffing around with my Alpinist. Off the steel strap code. On to a brown leather . Its too long I have a 6 ½ inch wrist. Custom length strap from Finland? Maybe . Nato ? I only have one and its blue and orange. But maybe it would work in khaki .
    I would love to see more of your videos about straps particularly the German brands. The one you referenced in this video seems very reasonably priced. Anyway I enjoyed listening . Richard

      I bought one, now out of warranty, from Amazon. The other was purchased through Ebay and I don't know more about that dealer. I went on line and found Sea Gull's site and wrote, via the "contact" link. No one responded. One person said Sea Gull's site isn't in English, which seems odd, but the site I found was in English. I just want to get them repaired. My watch guy said he can't get parts. Thanks for your help.

    Hi, your Seagull 1963 is a fake. The original has two lines of Chinese characters on the dial and does not come with Sapphire glass, only with Plexiglas.

    A watch for vacation has to be water resistant.

    Laguiole for 20 bucks? There is a very high chance it’s one of those ripoffs from Pakistan:(
