The Guitarist in this as has been mentioned is American born Aussie, John Deisel. He is also Jimmy Barnes Brother-In-Law & is an extremely talented Guitarist. He is highly thought of. He actually filled in for the Eagles for 8 Concerts, when they toured here a few years ago when Glenn Frey fell ill while on Tour. I said on one of your John Farnham Tributes, that he shows the audience so much respect in that it is his great honour to perform for you & Jimmy Barnes is the same.
Actually the thing is Mark Lizotte was never supposed to be known as Johnny Diesel the bassist was a guy known as John "Tatt" Dalzell and he was Johnny Diesel in the Injectors just because his name could kind of be altered to a very rock sounding moniker which they did as a joke. Journos mis-attributed the title Johnny Diesel to the lead singer and they kind of ran with it even though Mark wasn't overlyy happy with it. The band name had been a joke because John was already a dad with one kid and another on the way so he was Johnny Diesel with his little injectors the band didn't officially have a name but they gave the joke name for a gig and it stuck. Mark used to have a restaurant at Kincumber with his brother Brian on the Central Coast but they moved up to Newcastle a few years back - it's mainly Brian's thing beign a chef but they have live music too.
Aaagh mate.... 80's teenager here... I saw Diesel and The Injectors so many times... along with Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes and Farnsey so much.... truly.... the most iconic musicians and artists of Australias modern rock industry..... of course I also saw Midnight Oil, The Angels... and David Bowie on his concert tour.... yet Australia still has a vibrant, talented modern music scene if you care to find it..... Listen to or watch Triple J, Triple J unearthed.... Like A Version, Tram Sessions... you'll see our modern artists still kicking arse :D

Diesel, as well as being an amazing guitarist, has an incredible voice in his own right in my opinion.
@@telstar4772 plenty of people have heard Like A Versions. They have numerous videos on UA-cam with millions of views & that’s just UA-cam. If you add Spotify, Apple Music etc they’d likely tip at least a billion.
More on Johnny Diesel, I note someone else say he’s the third singer/guitarist, Jimmy Barnes and Johnny Deisel are brother-in-laws, well at least they were, have not kept up with the status of this information. Song was written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, 1st released by Sam and Dave 1967 ❤️🤘🎸🎻🇦🇺

@@Bellas1717 Yes and Deisel too. He is also much loved by Aussies and is a great soul musician/singer as well, with some great hits in the late 80's and early 90's. But not quite as prolific or awarded as Farnsey or Barnsey. Bit hard to compete while those two were around (but then he still has 20 years to catch up to John and 10 to catch up to Jimmy)

The guitarist here was Johnny Diesel, who later went by the shorter name of Diesel .. He is a very good singer and guitarist, and was in a band called Johnny Diesel and the Injectors before going solo .. Worth checking out their very first ( and best ) hit, "I Don't Need Love" .. The official video is great !

The reason it goes so well together is that they’re not competing. Everyone on that stage was amongst the best in the world at what they do, and they were all giving it their all, but there was no competition just brilliant collaboration. I hope you go further down their respective rabbit holes! If you’re after them singing a song you know try Jimmy (in his band cold chisel) doing “wild thing” or John doing “Amazing Grace” and/or “Black Dog” by Led Zeppelin

Jimmy is a genius at singing with other vocalists. Such a strong voice but he is just so good when he powers it down to sing backup or harmonise. Farnham is just as good. Oh, and i forgot Diesel, who remains one of my favourite guitarists...his playing is just so unique, i can pick his sound anywhere but if we are talking Aussie artists, then Cold Chisel are the epitome in my opinion.

This is about 32 years ago, so Jimmy was 34 and John 41.
The young guitarist is Mark Lizotte, aka Diesel, aka Jonny Diesel and The Injectors. He had a very successful career here in Oz too. Diesel is actually Jimmy's brother in law. Their wives are sisters😁
You should check out John Farnham and his back up singers performing at the Melbourne carols by candlelight back in the 90’s which one of the songs was “you’ll never walk alone”. I think the best version of this classic song. He also recorded it but the live one so much better. Also check out John and two of his backing singers doing amazing grace live, 90’s also, best version of this gospel classic.

What a great old soul ballad! So many people have covered it since it was released by Sam and Dave back in 1967. These two are dynamite. It's another song you feel more than hear. Imagine another cover. Linda Ronstadt did this with Aaron Neville. That magic is also worth a listen for you.

Jimmy and Diesel are brother in laws. Diesel is a legend in his own right. Cry In Shame is one of my favorites of Diesel's. Should listen to Jimmy and his son David Campbell (he was a special reporter for The Today Show). Carols By Candlelight You'll Never Walk Alone live version. You can see the love they have for each other after a troubled beginning.

Great cover of the song Isaac Hayes wrote and also sang. Delbert McClinton in concert drew me this to this soul classic for the first time. These guys really knock it out of the ballpark! SOUL! ❤️

This song is from 1991 from Jimmy Barnes' Soul Deep album. Jimmy made follow up album Soul Deeper, I think around 2000.
Jimmy has an amazingly talented family. All the girls are great artists and the big fella son , Jackie James is one of the best drummers around. David is a top tier singer,
son and dad are a fantastic duo on stage. Not to mention having Diesel as family.
Jimmy has a brother John Swan or Swanee. Great singer , great songs , The Party Boys was fronted by him in one of their iterations.
All the above people could put on a two or three hour show by themselves with band and feature guests for the duets.
I would go to that show.
John Diesel had a band called Johnny Diesel and the Injectors, he performed here in Perth Western Australia in the early 80’s. My sister dated him before his fame.
People learned that no can out power John. I love after Diesal guitar solo and he joins in John just holds his microphone for him. Diesal is Jimmy’s brother in law. Thank you.

Chris Rupp is a former member of Home Free, you'll see him in their earlier stuff and Simon is a Russian American youtuber that does music in both English and Russian. For wayfaring stranger, the video does verses in both and...I didn't _know_ I needed to hear Wayfaring Stranger in Russian until it happened.
