I heard about you today from the weekly tutorial by Jenny Doan at Missouri Star Quilt Company. I find your 3 options fascinating! I was pleased to see it done in just 2 colours as compared to Jenny's which she did with a layer cake. I have a layer cake of various red fabrics and I think this quilt will look stunning. Thank you, Brita. (Debra from Canada which is why there is a "u" in colours. :-)
Always nice to hear from a neighbor from the north. It was wonderful of her to give me a shout out and it is nice to see the contrast between her version and mine. This will look great in variations of red. I hope that you will send me a picture. Have a happy and healthy New Year.
Also just saw with Jenny and led me to your channel😊 what size did you cut your squares before making hst? My brain is not working🤣 love all 3 layouts. Watching from Delaware👋
I made this with 5 1/4″ squares of fabric which were turned into 4 3/4″ Half Square Triangles (HST). So happy to have you here. I am just to the north of you in the Philly Suburbs.
Your videos are not long. They are as long as you need to make it clear for us beginners and I love your optimistic personality. It helps me not to get discouraged. Thank you!

I'm so glad Jenny from Missouri Star Quilts found you! I've already watched 3 of your videos. I love the way you teach and especially the various layouts at the end. Thank you.
Jenny was so very kind to mention me. I am so happy that you are enjoying my videos. Welcome to my channel. Wishing you and your family a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Looking forward to watching your work. Jenny Doan sent me here and I'm grateful to both of you for giving me ideas for what to do with all the fabric I got for Christmas ;-)
I am glad that you like the tutorials. I am not to sure what you mean about showing you how to make a quilt block. Oh my! That is such high praise indeed. I am so happy that my teaching style works for you. I try very hard to balance being clear with being brief. Thank you so very much! Brita ps. Happy New Year!
Brita Today your channel showed up on my feed. I’m utterly gobsmacked by your creativity and imagination. Not to mention your teaching. I think you’re right up there with Caryl Breyer Fallert in your imagination, wide ranging imagination, enthusiasm and willingness to share your gifts. I could follow cutting up the blocks and a bit of the arranging but would have to arrange the 4 center blocks and then have to put up the next round by trial and error. I was so delighted and excited by your work that I knew I could figure that out. Eventually. I’m headed to your website in a bit to take a look. Maybe what I enjoyed most of all was knowing that I can do this because of you. And I’m reminding myself that in my previous professional life my skills were valuable. Hi Brita, I came here after watching Jenny’s tutorial on this block where she mentions you and your channel 😊. I like your explanations and variations!! I’ve subscribed and look forward to watching your videos.
Love this pattern. This is my first time seeing your channel (Jenny Doan recommended you) and your teaching method is fantastic.! Thank you very much for sharing.
Another wonderful block arrangement. Wow you are great and have so much knowledge to share!!! Love to see your smile and wonderful information. Thank you so very much.
I just discovered your channel. It is amazing. I just love your way you explain this patterns. I live in Austria and not a native speaker. But you speak very clearly and it is easy for me to follow. Luckily I have white and blue fabric at home and I will start imediately. Thank you so much.
I am so happy that you found me! Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! I am very glad that you found the instructions easy to follow. I would love to see a picture of the quilt when you have finished it. brita@questioningquilter.com

I just recently tripped across your channel and am loving it! I am more of a visual learner and find your video tutorials to be very clear and concise. I'm currently working on Top of the Stairs and already have a few other patterns on my list. I really like your teaching style. Thank you and please keep making these fabulous tutorials.
I hope that you didn't hurt yourself when you tripped. 😉I would love to see your Top of The Stairs quilt when you have finished it. Found your video when Jenny Doan of Missouri Star recommended looking you up. Love your tutorial. Love the extra layouts. You're so creative. Thank you for sharing your talents.
I absolutely loved making this quilt. I learned a lot of new techniques. I made this for my son and daughter in law. He is tall so I made it bigger with 64 squares.
My favorite is the first version - look like Spanish floor tiles to me! I want to experiment with making this in three colors - love the possibilities you have brought to my attention!
Thanks so much for all of your replies. It is so very kind of you. I also love all the different variations available with the disappearing blocks. I would love to see you multi color version of this quilt. Thanks again for watching.
Hi Brita, I'm so exited about your disappearing pattern. I'm in an edjucation to be a PW teacher at the German Patchwork Guild. In May '21 I got my theme for my teaching sample we had to hold last weekend. Mine was Disappearing Blocks. I was knowing some and had tried them before. For my teaching sample I picked out the Four Patch, Hourglas and Pinwheel. I sewed at least five small quilts to show off the pattern and sewed the blocks and disappearing ones, one for the Four Patch and four for Hourglas and Pinwheel. This week I looked for more ideas to use the blocks and found your tutorials. It's fantastic with what ideas you are coming along. What I did was for beginners, what you do is for professionells. I think I would call the first pattern Pyramid Stairs, going up from stair to stair (level) to the center in lighter colors would make it look great, too. Many greetings from Germany Peggy
Guten Tag Peggy, I am so excited that you found me all the way from Germany. I love that you are teaching the disappearing blocks (but I don't know what a PW teacher is). I find them to be endlessly fascinating, so many different designs can be created from such simple blocks. I like your name for the quilt and the idea of using different colors for each level of the steps ending with the lightest on the top. It would be beautiful. I was in Deutschland (München and Krefeld) with college friends in 1978 and it is a beautiful country full of wonderful people. I would love to go back some day. Danke schön Brita
@@QuestioningQuilter PW teacher means patchwork/quilting teacher. Hope you can come again one day to visit Germany, there is a bit more around patchwork than in the seventies. Brita, I have just discovered your channel! Great teaching style, and just love these disappearing blocks. I have a friend who finally had a baby after two miscarriages. She now has a "Rainbow" baby. This Top Of the Stairs quilt is perfect for me to make. I am going to start with Orange, and move to Pink, Green, Blue, and Purple. I have been searching for the perfect pattern. This is it!
Thank you so much. I am so glad that you like the pattern. I would love to see a picture of the completed quilt. I really love the idea of making different rows different colors. Congratulations to your friend and her rainbow baby. I have one of those myself so I know how fantastic it is.

Oh my goodness! I also heard about your channel from Jenny Doan. I love disappearing blocks. You seem to be a cross between a math teacher and an artist. I am looking forward to receiving your newsletters and watching future videos.
Brita, I love this idea of three different layouts for a pinwheel block. Very ingenious. I cannot wait to try it. Thanks to Jenny from Missouri Star for telling us about you and your site. I am in awe. I can’t wait to see your other multiple layout one block tutorials. Thank you ❤ 2:47
How fun. I will definitely make this. I would like to start making 40 x 40 lap quilts for veterans and this is a great pattern to start with. Looks so intricate and yet so easy the way you demonstrated. I’ll just need to adjust the bloc sizes. Thanks for a great video!
I am happy to hear that you will be making this pattern and veterans quilts are the best. If you want to make this a little smaller you can use the chart on my website: questioningquilter.com/chart/ If you make the HST's 4 3/8" then the quilt top will be 40.5" square. If you want it smaller, you can start with 4" HST's and the top will be 36" X 36" and you could add a 2" border to each size to make it exactly 40 X 40. I would love to see a picture of it when it is done.
Thank you so very much for the feedback and all the kind words. I work really hard on these videos and it makes it all worth while to hear how much you enjoy it and that you think it is the right speed. I am always second guessing myself.
Jenny Doan at Missouri Star mentioned you and your channel in a recent video and she encouraged her viewers to come over a take a look. I’m glad I did. Love the options and will be watching your other videos.
I just love your technique , starting with a simple pinwheel and the gorgeous layouts are just awesome!! oh my God , I am in love with what you’re teaching !! thank you so much..
Love this! The last layout makes me think of a Star Wars stormtrooper! 😂 If it was made in black & white it would really show up. Thanks for the variations.
#1 'Infinity'. 3d effect. Really, really struck me. Reverse colors for a 'cave' ? Gotta go now, see what I have to make this NOW! PS. Like the 2 other choices for variation, but....
Wow! Yeah, Infinity sounds good. You can keep adding rows around and around forever. A cave layout with reversed colors sounds interesting. It would be cool to try that. Thanks so much for the idea. I would love to see how your quilt comes out. Brita
OMG! That is wonderful. I can't wait to see the picture, and I hope that you will let me share it on my website and UA-cam community. brita@questioningquilter.com
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen! I don’t really care what it’s called - it’s absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing - I have always wanted to make one of these! Take care 🥰
Oh my gosh! This is the highest praise I could get. There are so many professionally produced videos out there (I am working in the bonus room above my garage). I will be smiling the rest of the day. I hope that you do make this quilt and I would love to see it if you do. Thank you so much.
Hi Brita….Jenny sent me here and boy, am I glad! After this comment I’m headed to your website to sign up for the newsletter. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2024
Welcome! Welcome! I am so happy you came by. Thank you so very much. My next newsletter will hopefully be out in a week. It is late, but it will have the pattern including fabric requirements for the 2 color version of my latest video. Here is to a 2024 filled with Joy and Quilts. Brita
I also heard your name from Jenny of MSQC and immediately went to your🎉 site - realizing thst I was already subscribed!!! Some days my “old lady memory” leaves the building and I had forgotten about being subscribed!!!🫢🫢. I loved what Jenny did and I’m loving this 2-color variation a lot!! I sometimes purchase a fabric I really like in more than just one yard so I do have several (probably more) packages of more than one yard of fabric!! I take sxreen shots on my iPad as once again my memory escapes to places unknown - I can look at my photos and remember where I took them and go back to your site!!! A very big thank you for this pattern and everything else!!
I am glad to have you back. I haven't posted for a while (broken shoulder), so it is understanding that you forgot that you were subscribed here. I am happy that you are enjoying the patterns. Thanks so much.
I came to that after making an entire quilt worth of pinwheels only to find that 3 of them were going in the opposite directions. LOL. Better you learn from my mistakes.
I guess we can be weirdos together. I also loved geometry. I still remember enjoying working through the proofs. It was like a logic puzzle for me. Thanks for letting me that I am not alone. 🙂 😀 ☺️

If you want to make this a little smaller you can use the chart on my website: questioningquilter.com/chart/
If you make the HST's 4 3/8" then the quilt top will be 40.5" square. If you want it smaller, you can start with 4" HST's and the top will be 36" X 36" and you could add a 2" border to each size to make it exactly 40 X 40.
I would love to see a picture of it when it is done.
You explain everything well. You are a happy person.
Thank you, you are very sweet.
Nicely done! Clear, concise, well paced, and beautiful layouts! Thank you!
Thank you so very much for the feedback and all the kind words. I work really hard on these videos and it makes it all worth while to hear how much you enjoy it and that you think it is the right speed. I am always second guessing myself.
I am amazed at these pinwheel variations. Congratulations on a great, very focused channel!!
Thank you so very much!
Jenny Doan at Missouri Star mentioned you and your channel in a recent video and she encouraged her viewers to come over a take a look. I’m glad I did. Love the options and will be watching your other videos.
Welcome! I am so happy you made the trip, and pleased that you like the options. Thanks! 🥰
Awesome pattern. And you have made it seem so simple. Appreciate your passion for quilting.
Thank you so much for the feedback. It means the world to me that people appreciate the videos.

I am glad to hear that you consider me to be on of your quilting friends. 🥰🥰
I just love your technique , starting with a simple pinwheel and the gorgeous layouts are just awesome!! oh my God , I am in love with what you’re teaching !! thank you so much..
Oh my! You are making me blush. Thank you so much for all the kind words.
Lovely quilt and easily explained. Thank you!
I am so happy that you enjoyed it. Thanks so much!
Love this! The last layout makes me think of a Star Wars stormtrooper! 😂 If it was made in black & white it would really show up. Thanks for the variations.
Oh my gosh, you are so right. Storm troopers. What a cool Star Wars design idea.
Thanks so much for watching.
I was seeing Darth Vader.. lol
So exciting to see the smaller size and different layouts . Thank You. Thanks from Jennie Dorn for your website
Thanks for watching!
Brita
I did it! It turned out so nice! I did it in red and white as soon as it gets back from the Longarm I’ll send a picture. Thanks for all your help.
OMG! That is wonderful. I can't wait to see the picture, and I hope that you will let me share it on my website and UA-cam community.

Love it pinwheels are one of my favorites. Thank you
Pinwheels are lots and lots of fun and there are hundreds of ways to use them in disappearing blocks.
I think this is very pretty. and i think that "stepping stones" would be a nice name for this to.
Stepping stones is a great name! Thanks for suggesting it.

Amazing tutorial and fabulous video thanks for sharing your beautiful beautiful ideas
Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy making videos for people like you.
Honestly, "top of the stairs" makes sense. It reminds me of a top-down view of a ziggurat.
I had to look up a Ziggurat. How cool, and you are right, it does look similar. Thanks so much for sharing this with me.
Love your quilts, Thanks you for sharing.
You are so welcome! Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Watching you from South Africa
South Africa, that is so exciting to know! Thanks for being here.
Glad you popped up in my UA-cam suggestions!
Welcome to my channel. I am glad that I popped up on your suggestions also. Thanks for watching.
Another amazing block…..I’m so glad that I stumbled onto your site yesterday! 👍🏻👵🏻

I am so glad that you found me and like this pattern. I am so happy to have you here. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy New Year.
Love the tip about stacking them all dark on the left, light on the right!
I came to that after making an entire quilt worth of pinwheels only to find that 3 of them were going in the opposite directions. LOL. Better you learn from my mistakes.
I am one of the 'weirdos' who loved Geometry in High School; so these really fascinate me! Thanks for the posts!
I guess we can be weirdos together. I also loved geometry. I still remember enjoying working through the proofs. It was like a logic puzzle for me. Thanks for letting me that I am not alone. 🙂 😀 ☺️
I keep watching your videos and I keep being amazed. You make me smile!!! And you ignite my "quilting mojo" !!! I'm watching these completely out of order, but I hope you KEEP "EM COMING!!! LOL

That is the highest praise that I could get. I will be smiling for the rest of the afternoon. Thank you so much!!!!
I came across your video when searching for disappearing blocks. As soon as you started your video, I thought "this is exactly the kind of video I was looking for". I am a new quilter and love any of the disappearing block quilts. I look forward to giving this one a try. I plan on making this (first quilt to gift) for a friend who recently lost her daughter. I cannot wait to get started!! Thank you so much for the information you provide!

I hope that "messing" with your brain is a good thing. 🙃
I think it looks like a Moroccan floor. I would name Moroccan. I will be making this quilt. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks so much for the suggestion. I already have a quilt that I call Moroccan Tiles ua-cam.com/video/twK-hloqxOY/v-deo.html . But, I do like the tiles idea.

Brita is a common namn in Sweden. My name comes from Germany. So awesome we are all related.❤️
@@jeanettebeccau458 Sweden is wonderful. I went through Europe when I was in college with my roommate and a few friends. We stayed a few days in Stockholm and a few days in the far north of Sweden. I can't remember exactly where, it was a summer cottage of my roommate's ex-boyfriend's parents, LOL.
I would love to bring my husband some day and show him how beautiful it is.
This is such a great project. The way you explained it is so clear. Thank you so much, I am going to make this for my granddaughters bed
