there were tens of millions used in the war. when soldiers were captured their weapons were often just tossed in creeks. silt buried them and every now and then a good storm will bring one to the surface.
Wow..... awesome trip Chigg. The waterfall, the old timber and of course.... a freaking musket. The buggy step was an elegant little find as well. Loved it.
Oh wow!!! keep that musket wet and look into restoration! That is so cool!!! What a great river! You gotta go back ... so much beauty and the spring/cave ... back, you gotta go back. Several more trips.
The amount of knowledge that you freely share is astounding, I learn something from you every time I watch one of your vids, and they are very entertaining as well. Thank you, your efforts are appreciated.
The buggy step and musket were to die for Chigg. I gotta say you must love the rain, or else you are a rain magnet, as you seem to be caught in it far too often. LOL This was wonderful to see and hope you go back soon for another adventure. That spring with its waterfalls and cave was so magical, it really drew me in. I don't know how you were able to keep yourself from going in deeper to check it out?! What a lovely place and so full of curious things, and beautiful too. Thanks for taking us along. Have a great day!
Awesome, awesome, awesome! I most certainly mean the musket, but also the area where you are hunting. Gorgeous! And I learn things every time I watch your vids. I would love to see more of that mill area - You really got the archaeologist in me perked up. I guess that's one of the reasons why I've enjoyed your channel for so long. You're doing archaeology - Albeit it is a different kind of archaeology than I learned in college (I was studying prehistory), it is historic archaeology, and you make it FUN! 😸 Nice job. Thanks for doing this. I am unable to get out in it anymore, so I'm living it through you. 💗 Thank you again. 😊
I was never expecting to see anybody kayaking down the river let alone a person medal detecting but when it turns out you found a musket and allowed me to take a photo with it it was totally worth the sunburn
Have you seen his collection vids ? He has amassed a plethora of relics over the years. No wonder he’s numb to finding such treasures that would send anyone else over the moon
The waterfall and giant spring were amazing, so unspoilt considering the locals have been using the river as a trash dump for so many centuries. The condition of the musket was unusually good, only just washed into the river from a dry burial place, only a few feet from someones new looking back yard fence ha ha. We love all your videos but there is something about a river hunt that is special, you have managed to train yourself to be able to hunt places most people will never be able to, respect for that, a natural curiosity and military trained tenacity. Thank you Mr Aquachigger :-)
Thanks for another video Chigg. That musket was in great condition, good find! I just got off the river my self when I got your notification. I've been on the water the last 3 days and All I got was around 40 fish and to see 6 ladies kayaking topless. Keep up the good work Chigg. ;)
Gotta love your great attitude no matter what life throws at you Chigg! Love the thrill of exploring wild and beautiful places and thanks for allowing us to come along. Mike in sunny Florida
Good old eagle eyed Chig real keen eye spotting the musket , dealing with weather element as well classic Aquachigger . Your UA-cam journey has been epic .
WOW !!!! DUDE..... congrats on the Musket. great eyeball. .. to bad y'all didn't get on a stretch that was " PAVED WITH BULLETS " .... definitely go back and hit the cave... looked real interesting. Thanx Chigg. see ya on the next
Hey man the video thank you so much for it I enjoyed this one and I enjoyed that waterfall 2 and I love that musket man if I had me my log cabin house already I would put it over my fireplace
Thank you once again for educating me on things I would've known about otherwise. I've learned so much about the civil war and relics from that time because of you! Our schools need people like you to teach our youth and get them excited about history!
Thanks again for an awesome adventure Mr. Chigg! I could be mistaken, but I believe that the metal rings could be hub bands from carriage or small wagon wheels.
Those rings are for holding post and beam structures together. They are sandwiched between two timbers in circular grooves cut into both timbers and then a bolt is run thru both timbers inside the rings position to hold everything together. The rings are sort of anti-sheering rings. Salvaged tons of them tearing down old WWII air-force barracks.
Oh no! You forgot a flashlight! You must of gotten too water logged from the last river adventure out in that thunderstorm! Lol! Stay safe thanks for sharing!
You just love those Leeches don't ya!😀 Pity you didn't find another ol gun.. minus the Leech! What an awesome spot you found with the waterfalls..definitely a nice spot to go back too! Thanks for sharing.👍
At 18:01 when you moved the rock beside the tractor part, there was a nut (fastener) laying just to the right of it. It moved when you fanned the gravel away.
It’s amazing that in 2019 there are still muskets to be found 👍👍

That buggy step is awesome. So many cool things to implement that in to show
Nice to see Rich wearing a PFD. Sets a good example for kids. And helps ensure he'll make it home today.
Thanks for including us in your adventures and making us feel a part of them. I'd like to meet you someday.

I love how you just float up and are all like "look a musket" as if it's an everyday thing
Great time. Thank you!
One of the better video's in most recent times, Thought that the, musket riffle, stirrup wagon pedal and wagon hammer, were pretty cool.,
For anyone who is interested, after many requests the AQUACHIGGER Song & Lyrics are up on my channel!
