Hi Chig, I am watching this video for the 3rd time. Both parts. I LOVE your adventures and feel honored to get to come along. You find some of the most amazing treasure everywhere you go. I learn a lot from your stories and I also like that your wife comes along on some of your explorations. She's your perfect partner for sure. The episode in the cave was so interesting. Keep up the good work! Thank you for being another caring soul about our early history and the men who served to protect our freedom. I think of those men every time you make a find. There's always a story, a life and a part of that story we can only guess at. Bless the families who lost loved ones in every battle we've fought. Thank YOU for your service as well! Stay safe and keep finding those great finds. Happy hunting!
It’s so great that you know the history of the relics you find and can identify most of them, even in the shape they’re in..I love that you saved the turtle! You’re awesome Chigg!!!
Only Beau would find so much awesome stuff that he has to leave a musket to come back to! Thanks for the extra long adventures they've been interesting!
if you could hear me clapping you'd know how much I loved these two videos........bravo....what an awesome find. And your first one of a kind too...how awesome we were with you. Thank you for sharing this....excellent....(as you say)
Wow, for a dud that's been in the Earth so long? :-) If some many are found in creeks, how many are in fields? Or did the creeks cause it to not explode on impact?
Great haul! That musket is sweet. And so much unexploded ordnance. The fuse on that one ball is well preserved. I had no idea so many failed to explode. Congrats!
I'd have to say these two videos are prob my favorite so far plus we got to see you find your first James, can't wait to see that all cleaned up . The Chigg-miz-ster RULES !!!! LOL
Love your videos and the running commentary you provide is pricless. At times I feel envious of the discoveries you make, but by the same token here in Australia we never had to endure the tradgedy of Civil War. keep up the good work! If I can't do it myself doing it vicariously through you is a great substitute!😀
The musket with the bent barrel ... this was typically what was done to muskets to prevent their reuse once captured. A large fire was built and the muskets were placed into it and when hot enough bent around a tree. Great find ..... and a great place to metal detect. Keep hunting that creek and on the flats out from the creek banks. There is a lot more to be found there. One thing for sure no one else has metal detected where your at.
The giant Japanese turtle kaiju you are thinking of is named Gamera. He is from a competing film studio than Godzilla's Toho studios, so the two never appeared in a film together.
Now I can sleep better knowing you went back and got the musket...lol!!! Congrats on finding the James!!! That is really cool!! My favorite is the munitions plate.
Awesome video can't wait to see that James shell cleaned up. I stopped by my towns archives today to start some research tons of revolutionary war stuff happened here.
Awesome finds on this outing. I never new it could be so interesting to watch someone search for old war relics. Love your videos and your great personality. Cant wait for the next vid, cheers from Oregon.
That funny looking horse shoe is called an "egg bar" horse shoe. They are used on horses that have low or collapsed heels and are designed to give a horse's hoof lateral support.
I like the fact that your reading about some of these places and able to actually find things backin up what ya read.great video beau thanks for sharing.
Unreal. I can't believe I have not seen this video yet. I have been watching for awhile now and thought I saw them all. Anyway just thought I'd let you know I am a big fan. I am a collector and living history guy from NY but have never been digging in my life. I am also a huge fan of watching you with all of the critters! Cheers, Rob
Hi Beau! You've totally inspired me to get into metal detecting when I get closer to retiring. My husband and I have kayaks and will be exploring our local creeks and rivers here in Northern California. We probably won't have near the old historical finds- but treasure is treasure. I see you find a lot of horseshoes and I hope the following info helps you: 1. Those round horseshoes are called "egg bar" shoes (Outside of the U.S.- oval shoes, moons shoes... ). You are correct, they are a therapeutic shoe most commonly used for heel support and equine navicular-type lamenesses. But they have other types of applications. 2. Round shoes with a bar down the middle are called Heart Bar and are also a therapeutic shoe for varied equine lameness. 3. The single shoes you find with all the nails in them are not (always) off a dead horse. Horses lose shoes all the time and when it happens the nails are pulled through the hoof wall and often left complete, nails and all. Shoes with no nails in them are often pulled by a human. But they can also be pulled off accidentally by the horse and the nails have simply fallen out or rotted out. 4. The angular bending technique you see in the end of the nails are called clinching. It is how the farrier keeps the shoe in the hoof. 5. The front feet on a horse is more often rounder than hind feet, which are more oval. The shoes will reflect these shapes and that is why you'll find rounder shaped or more oval shapes. The long narrow shoes are often off of mules and donkeys (etc). Happy hunting!
