Can’t wait to watch him compete again. I feel like all these challenges make him so much more well rounded as a competitor. Maybe even able to pull off an off race cheese to steal a win.
I think he's better playing when he's going crazy rather than following the 'normal way' i don't know why but it seems like the pressure of the comps seem to minimize his best parts.
@@davecolwell725 he doesnt feel the pressure and looks really strong when he is playing crazy builds, but he is playing against so much worse players. the difference between an ex pro high gm player and a master/lowgm player is ridiculous, so big in fact that he is able to win most games doing crazy challanges. This series is the one thing that Dragged me deep into StarCraft content and made me start playing it(Proud Silver 2 after a week of playing). Am gonna miss the Zerg series o7.
A thought I had from that first game was using corrupters to kill the lair then send one to hit the spawning pool, as you get infester pit into hive. save some of the corrupters from the earlier attack and get proxy brood lords!
And kept biling the spines instead of the detecting spore, although he said many times in his commentary "I'm gonna bile the spores with the ravager". But still a very fun game.
Ok, what about this challenge: Doom Drop, every race, drop an huge army with the best units, with upgrades. I would like to see the games. Big fan, by the way
2nd game. You could BURROW your drones to keep them safe. At least for the heavy attacks. He would leave if there's nothing to kill while you whittled down his lings with your roaches. After they got to a more manageable amount you could drone drill with your roaches attacking simultaneously.
I think the corruptor build could be good but I am not sure it is something I'd like to do with a lot of money. Building a spire and doing something like roaches or lings would make more sense. Build the spire then sit on it, if he puts spores in every base just cos you built a building that is good for you don't build any corruptors. If he does not respond then when you got a bunch of money 4+ bases suddenly showing up with some corruptors when you remax getting a hatch and a bunch of overlords could be good. But the 2-base rush of corruptor when he can butter your biscuit with a ground force is no bueno its downsides are too obvious.
Would love to see some 2v2 with you and ThrivingGG doing some weird builds together haha. Has been a great battle against the guy I feel like you're basically best friends now
I'm a little late to the party here... but around the 20 minute mark you kept burrowing your low HP roaches but were in range of his spore. so they were visible. Burrow and then them out of detection and they will heal.
What if you sent a couple drones, made 1 hatch, cancel into a spine(outside vision but close?), do for the 2nd drone as well? Walk 2 spines basically in with the lings? Probably weak, I assume, since I haven't seen it.
First game.. a little strange.. corruptor rush.. was okay... not sure why you sacked your drones, since the mutas will kill the roaches. Better strat may have been sending them to the corners... of the map to re mine the outside area. Recalling your mutas to clean up the roaches would of put you in a winning position. His economy was slightly better, but he was wasting income on overlord rebuilds... and defence... WHich counters his eco non lead... It was imo, sacrficing your base to 11 roaches.... There was no need for eco damage.... mutas are fast, so its about 20 seconds.. there and then back into the base and have some mid sight... If you do a base exchagne and your defence is air, Macro hatchery or wall of on the ramp can be useful, since roaches range is 3... mutas should be able to easily kill 7 and save teh e co... also a (hidden base during a exchange is typically what I would do as a zerg, if I want to do a base exchange. Since the focus is off basis... You had so many mutas, that essentialyl what Ithought would happen happened, The zerg turtled on one base with minerals.. and accepted all ouside losses. You are playing Zerg, to much like Terran.. Zerg is a very mobile race. Returning home is a good idea, when yo uahve a combat advantage.... Protoss doesn't have this advantage becasue of its lethargic units, so recall is almost a need to coutner the slow protoss army... You had done considerable damage. I thin kteh largest mistake was seeing a few rooches going across, and stayoing on yoru enemy. These are all free trades. So you Take 7 and kill all zerg untis (free kills and area negative offset against him) use 5 left over mutas to harass his overlords and force him to use apm to defend.... You were way ahead, there was no ammount of raoches that could defend... So that frist wave, kill it for free, since there is no eco advantage in losses. and zerg is pretty much used to being trash... so punish it... and then matnain your eco if you paly as you were, and you would of been way ahea,d since transitioning to air, or hydras would of been costly.. and require a lair... and zerg is quite fast a producing.. Hwoever, if you do a base exchange and its early. Macro hatch on the ramp is great, because you can block it, and not sure why peopel don't do this more... as it onyl require one other building to block it... and its relatibvely cheap.. there is no cost... lost in a hatchery.. being built... in z verse Z.... two base 3 base... some games can be determined by simply larva... and three hatches.... 10 seconds a larva... plus zerg has a deficit of hatch time... So.. more larva is always better early game.. allows good flexibility, and allows you to super saturate a base.. so if the person is too busy defending you... and they are taking losse adn there army is about teh same, if youthink yo ucan distract them for about 30- 40 seconds drone up typically... but requires so idea of waht is going on... in my experience... zerg needs always atleast 3 production buildings... thats 3 larva per 11 (10.7) seconds + 3* larva per inject (29 seconds) inject.... hatcheries are so important, as the expression to production is multiplied. Cannot be played like other races. Larva is the life line of zerg. Notes: Hatchery is Capped at 19 Larva. Hatchery not sure, spawns larva but I thoughti t stops spawning at 4 larva and only injects adds to teh total. you can see how this is essential and qhy queens are so important. So 19 larva.. per hatchery... So larva and hatcheries technically give more time to zerg... and the game you cna play wit hzerg is see larva hatch something, lol... then late game you want ot build a massive pool of larva.. 100 larva may not even be good enough. I think that first game wasn't lost because of the strategy it was lost because of the choice not ot wall and deal wit hthe wave and return back.. and not protecting enough drones. If you are all-in'in its cheap to make a side corner hatchery for income, since they may be focused on your base.. and during mutas/ corruptor since its not used, they may not be able to calculate your total spending ratio.. . anyways.... Zerg... queens and hatcheries.. super important in the begining, not onyl for defence ,but larva is basically the real currency of zerg, not so much minerals.. larva is a life line, and waiting for larva to spawn... can feel like an eternity.. and falling behind on larva production creates... an additional prodcution loss to hatch timing cost... My thoughts .... Loss was simply because of a choice to exchange in a base trade when the enemy was giving you free trades which is a negative mining score..... you can mine out an entire map, and if you never build a unit that deals with what is attacking you, you will lose.. which gives you more time to macro up with a smaller army if their army is ineffective..

I don't get why you went for that basetrade instead of booming in the first game. He couldn't attack you with his roaches if your mutas were at home. There was no need to allow his roaches to do damage.
Zerg is the hardest to play in any pro tournament, as it gets the most nerf of almost all units, while terran and protoss got upgrades. Terran and Protoss >>>>>> Zerg.

The series that turned him into a zerg main, epic.
