Recently, thousands of tourists have had tours of the Colosseum and the Vatican canceled at the last minute. Imagine wanting to see the Sistine Chapel, or walk the concourse of the Colosseum, and at the last minute, your tour gets canceled. It's a problem that is only getting worse in Rome.

Tour companies are canceling tours left and right. Make sure you know what refund policy they offer.

You are welcome. I'm also in some Italy Travel Facebook groups, and numerous people are upset with tours being cancelled.
What are the new laws you mentioned?
Another useful public service announcement from Joric. It doesn't affect me personally, because (a) I'm not planning to visit Rome, (b) my preference in any foreign city is to wander around by myself with guidebook in hand - how shockingly old-fashioned! - and get my own tickets rather than to go on a guided tour. But this does sound a major problem, and I can only hope that the expected new laws don't make it worse.

BTW-Something similar did happen to us years ago when we booked a tour from Seoul to the DMZ. Was cancelled at the last minute from a reputable operator. Never got our money back-only a ‘credit’ which we never used.
