  • Here's a better way to store your RV sewer hoses and keep them completely out of site and out of the way. For under $20 you can do it too. I call it the "Disappearing Sewer Hose."

    WHAT's THE SECRET? I fastened inexpensive PVC fence posts underneath my RV and connected one end to the side of my sewer compartment. I cut a hole in the compartment so the fence post can stick through. My sewer hose and connectors can now slide right in without taking up valuable space in an existing compartment.

    My sewer hose (with attachments) goes into a plastic storage box, stored in the RV's storage basement. When I'm using the hose, I rinse out the box, spray a little lysol disinfectant (also stored in the plastic storage box), and set it out in the sun to dry. My fresh water hoses, electrical cords, and similar are all stored the same way, all in the same place.

    Thanks to your tip, I just installed one on my Travel Trailer and it looks great! The function of it right by the black water pull handle is fantastic. I attached the lid with rivets to an old flat nylon lawn chair cord and burned the ends to solidify the frayed ends. The room inside lets the hose and attachments slide right in and out with ease. Should any of the hose or attachments inside ever get lodged to the rear of the tube, I'll just use my awning pull rod to reach in and pull it right out. I just love it, thank you for that awesome tip, life is hassle free now when it comes to dumping these tanks now.

    This is a great idea, it's better than the round pvc pipe that I have. It seems to be a little bit bigger for the hose. I'm going to try it on my toy hauler.
    Thanks

    I was going to buy 4.5" PVC pipe for the hose, but still unsure what to do with the 90* connector. I was very happy to see the fence post also fits the connector! Thanks!

      Mark W Gundert i use a plastic ammo box big enough to fit you 90° in...and drill holes in the bottom to run big zipties in and attach to the bumper

    That is an incredible idea. I was just at the depot today trying to come up with something using a 4" PVC tube and it wasn't working out. I guess I'll be heading back tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

      Yes. It saves me a lot of space...and I don't have much. Let me know how it goes.

  • @RVwithTito
    @RVwithTito  11 років тому +2

    Yes. This is better option than the rear bumper option. Storing your hose in the bumper often causes it to rust out, plus the bumper is usually too narrow for connectors and other stuff.

    • @Josef_R
      @Josef_R 4 роки тому

      I use my rear bumper to hold 7 chunks of wood I cut to fit in there. They are connected by rope in twos and each set of two has a rope hanging off to tie to the next set so I can pull them all out at once.

    It’s brilliant!!!
    My problem is that I am not sure where I can or cannot drill underneath my RV. I have a NuCamp 320 and it’s tiny and compact. Don’t want to drill on any pipes or wires that may hidden in between the bottom and the floor by accident. There are no storage that I can access from the outside either. The company does not help and only suggests not to drill any where in and out the trailer. Still trying to figure out a way to storage the sewer hose instead of packing it with a plastic bag.

    An Idea would be put screen at the end with the holes in to keep pest from making a nest in the tube.

    Also check out the Rhinoflex sewer hose. It collapses down to about three feet and extends out to 15. It 'locks' into place either way, no stretchy hose threatening to pull out of dumpstation hole!

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  10 років тому

      I've used Rhinoflex hoses in the past. Each time, they developed leaking cracks or small holes. It has been a few years now, so maybe that's fixed now. I try to get the thicker softer hoses now.

    • @RVCrazy
      @RVCrazy 10 років тому

      I have yet to use a sewer hose but I returned a rhinoflex hose after reading quite a few reviews saying they develop leaks. Cool in concept but it needs the kinks ironed out to make it last.

      I totally took my brand new sewer hose out of the box to use it for the first time yesterday and when I went to put it in the cubby that is in the side of my rv it totally wouldn't fit. Hole wasn't big enough. Guess I'll have to fix her up as the cardboard box the hose came in isn't gonna hold up for much longer.

    Secure those hooks you are using to secure the tail piece keeping a valuable piece of equipment in the holder, just in case Murphy and his law raises his head!
    Use a tie wrap through the end and it can't turn, it's like using saftey wire on switches or engine parts that do not need to turn! They are cheap and bought by the bag and have a ton of uses around automotive equipment!
    If you don't ride with the CB on you'll maybe never hear someone yelling at you about dragging hoses like some do gas hoses!
