  • For my new suspension I'm running larger shocks and these shocks have reservoirs. I need to do some revalving on these to loosen up the rebound. So in this video I take you along as I tear them apart, change the valving a little, and reassemble them.

This is one of the best how to videos I’ve come across in a long time very well done .I learned a lot from this and I think this will be the same for my Fabtech dirtlogic shocks that I want to rebuild Thank you !

Thanks bro, this is cool as. After seeing what's inside them, it doesn't seem like a huge job to make some.

My set of Locked Offroad shocks just came in the mail. I'm SUPER excited to install, but gotta do a lot of other things before I can. Thanks so much for making this video, Doug!

      You're welcome,
I hope the shocks work great!

I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for another great vid.
I helped a friend Revalve his fox shock's. We left the valve shim over the holes and took the next shim out and put it on top of the stack so it would not get lost. By removing the second shim it allowed the larger 1st shim to flex easier getting the softer rebound. The multi stack shim set gives you that progressive dampening control. I can really tell the difference with my fox shocks that have the reservoir's because the dampening stays the same during my entire ride with my sandrail whereas without them in about 15 minutes of ruff ground the shocks just seem to go away. Suspension tuning is a black art.

Hey EZGZ! Yeah shock tuning is pretty fun, as long as it doesn't get carried away. ;-)

Extremely informative. Outstanding video. Shocks were always something I've had done by a professional, rather than do myself. It's the one system that scared me to attempt.

Glad you liked the video. Maybe next time you can try it yourself. Be prepared to get a little oily. ;-)

great video, just did the front shocks with my boy for my buggy and all went well. I had bad o'rings in the reservoir and was leaking oil into the air chamber. You gave a great demonstration on the procedure. we changed out all the seals and o'ring but did not change any dampening.

Shock tuning with your son, that's great! Glad it worked out and you were able to rebuild the shocks.

I wish you made this a couple years ago when I was learning to rebuild my shocks lol. I've rebuilt/re-valved about 4 sets now. A vice and universal spanner wrench helps so much!
    Great viddy as always!

Yeah I need to get some spanners. Would have saved me a lot of time.
      Thanks for the comment Dawg!

I recently did something similar with my rebound stack and ended up with a super underdamped shock since the fluid just went through the opening in either direction. It had no appreciable damping in either direction. By the way, thanks for the great videos.

LOL, I did that on my emulsion shocks once. Had to go back and add more dampening. I guess if you don't go to far you'll never know how far to go.

I'm happy with them. I got one with a cross threaded shraeder valve, but that was easy enough to fix.
The buggy I'm building now will have them on all four corners and Locked bump stops.
Previous buggy had Fox, but these seem more than capable to do everything those did for quite a bit less money and great customer support.

you should always leave the first plate, if you dont cover the holes when the piston travels the other direction the port you left open will flow freely on the compression side. basically you made a bleed hole. they make shims with cuts in them to do this in a metered fashion.. try and remove the 2nd 3rd or 4th for much more of a sublte diffrence. to change the entire curve just remove the smallest shim and that will give less leverage on the rest of the shims

You are right, I realized that a bit later and had to make some adjustments.
Thanks for the tips on which shims to remove. It's helpful to me and hopefully to people reading the comments. 👍

cant find a review about this product. if compared to kingshocks, how do they compare?

They're actually really good. I've seen some small build quality issues, like I got one and the schrader valve cap was cross threaded. But overall they perform really well.
