None of my wires had ends. Nor did I have a wiring sheath. Also no metal bracket. Received September 13. Purchased directly from SOFTSTART.

I would contact Coleman. As you saw in the video mine had all of those.

With this soft start can you run your a/c on your lithium battery set-up? I could see doing this for a quick lunch at a rest stop when you want to run your a/c for 30 min or so.

As of now I only have a 100 ah battery. I am exploring upgrading my battery to a larger size and getting a DC to AC inverter.

I installed a similar softstart on mine but I had to turn my A/C on & off 5 times so that the softstart could "learn" my A/C. I like that it doesn't have a jolting thump every time it comes on now but I still hate that the A/C itself is sooo loud. I've heard a Houghton A/C is much quieter but of course that would cost a lot to replace & I can't justify that expense.

I love our new soft start. The fan does not bother us. What brand soft start did you install?

I have been looking at buying a Casita. I have seen mini spit AC/DC units that can run on 400 watt start then 200 watt run time and were solar powered. I was wondering if it was possible to hook a Mini Split up to a Casita? I just dont want the expense or noise of a constant running generator, even a Honda 2200i which I have now.

I would look at the new DC air conditioners on the market . Less space. We are always looking to save space on our Casita.

How did you secure the softstart box inside the unit? It didnt look like you used screws in the mounting location. Double sided tape?

I tried the screws that came with it but they did not grab. I used VHB tape.

Very good video! I think I may put one on my Casita . I have the same unit . Probably a really good idea ! I read how you mounted the control box . Thanks ! 👍

After camping in Destin for a few days recently I realized how hard and loud the compressor starts on my casita Mach 8. In the video, you mentioned some splicing was required. Do you feel the soft start you used is any different than one from softstartusa ? I’d prefer not to deal with a splice.

I don’t know if the other brands are different. I chose the one from the same company as the AC. It was very easy to install even with the one splice.

Enjoy all your videos, would like to see one on ways to access roof top repairs (like AC) on Casitas. I’m leary of putting my body weight on the roof and/or falling. Thanks.

I have a tall ladder that I use to work on the roof. I am also Leary about climbing on the roof for the same reasons. I have rubber strips I put on the top of the ladder to protect the trailer. I also use a second person to hold the ladder when I am working on the roof items. I will see what I can come up with for a video.

I just ordered one of these based on your video. Did you just work from a ladder on the back? I wasn't sure if you could put some of your weight on the roof or not. Have you been able to run your ac off of a 120v 15amp circuit?

Yes I was on a ladder and yes I have run off of 15 amp. Just make sure the AC is the only thing on.
