    Questions!
    1. What is the output voltage on this thing now?
    2. How many amps does it draw? I wonder if it would trip a breaker in a standard outlet.
    3. As usual - what is the music? First track - where do you get this stuff?
    Awesome work as usual

      +John Grammaticus Not counted volts at the output but counted 420A. The name of music is Molecul! I found it in FMA.. Thanks for the comment!

    Good job. And I just want to put this out there that just be aware that these types of transformers are very inefficient so even if they are not used but connected so would they overheat after some time and when used they would in a shorter period and at top power quite quickly, but you would see when it to hot when the smokes starting to come out from the box I guess.
    There is a fan incorporated in a microwave oven for a reason and not only to blow steam and things out from it but mainly cool the transformer and magnetron.

    Do not put MOT inside completely closed box without bimetal temperature switch or thermal fuse. Because - leave power on and it will build up heat without limits until coil insulation burns and it blows a fuse then. It's seriously hot by then and can cause fire.

    I thought you were going to remove the transformers I piece leaving the E and adding an eddy current disc of some sort that would heat under the field. Effect should be the same and much smaller.

      No much it is now a CURRENT transformer rather than a voltage transformer, just 2 turns ... They only thing to worry is avoid overheating the transformer. If it shorts, you will get mains into the secondary. always wire a ground to the core so the diff breaker will be able to pick up this issue fast

    At the risk of sounding idiotic... The large size wire that was added is completely insulated, how is there power at the ends? Doesn't it have to be bare just like the other section? Sorry. I can do simple electrical household stuff, but this is something that I've never touched. I thought that I had a good understanding until now. : /

    • @DIYTyler
      @DIYTyler 8 років тому

      The other side, "the primary side" is also insulated it's just a clear, very thin, high temperature insulation.

    • @DIYTyler
      @DIYTyler 8 років тому

      Magnetic induction is the means by which the voltage gets stepped up or down in the transformer. No poles or polarity magnets like a motor though.
