Sonic R history is actually pretty interesting and makes sense of what the game intended to be before becoming a Sonic game. ;) Then you'd understand why there are 2 types of turning in a running game, which mostly gets lost to most consumers, but when you know how to use the two types simultaneously, it all makes sense! ;)
This song fits so well in those small moments in life where bright neon lights are everywhere at night and the world just looks so beautiful and like a 90s music video. That and it has those "retro" sounding synths.
No kidding, I've already remade one song from this album and I'm really considering doing more. Once you start to get something that sounds like the song it's hard to keep going because you want to keep jamming out 😂
I find this music incredibly nostalgic, it often reminds me of times past. Whenever I hear it, I feel happy, though like something is missing. I thought I was disappointed because I couldn't go back in time. But lately, I've been thinking about writing music, so now I understand. This song wasn't trying to drag me back to memory lane, it was trying to push me forward, so that one day I may create art just as beautiful as it. Long story short: This seves a my inspiration
I remember this game so fondly, but I was really young when I played it. The music has stuck with me all these years -- I'm so glad to have rediscovered it.
Sync I feel the same way, I had played this game when I was really young, but I recently remembered the game and hearing the soundtrack again really brought back memories. Going back and playing games I had as a kid and listening to the soundtrack to them makes me miss me when times were more simple and there wasn't a care in the world.
This song reminds me of freshman year in medical school. Moved into a new city, new people, it was exciting. It was a fitting song,I listened to it most of the time while walking to lectures or shopping groceries lol. It makes me reminisce a lot about those times, before everything went to shit xD
That's one of the things I loved about the CD Rom-based Sega games of this era. The soundtracks. They had a great sense of fun about them. And the fact that they were performed by a live group was such an amazing thing at that time.

Outside of the nostalgia. I swear I get sad when listening to the music. It's just so pretty and brings out such the old yet magical feeling out of the game that made me enjoy playing it so much, even if the gameplay itself was meh to crap. lol

This brings back so many memories. I would play the hell out of this game on the Saturn. I was hooked to it (it had its bugs but damnit, I had so much fun unlocking all the characters and just jamming to the music) so when my house burnt down after my mother died (six month before it) somehow my small stack of Saturn games were elsewhere but out of the pile two were gone and I honestly wasn't surprised. Shining the Holy Ark (was totally living in the Saturn. That was my JRPG for life, still is) and Sonic R was in my old CD player (never took that out either) so needless to say when I saw the empty cases I had a good laugh. I still haven't got Sonic R back but one day I'll get the disk and play it again. Still one of the best OSTs for any game. I hum the songs so many times over the years. Definitely a great pick-me-up when you need it as well.
