I believe that if you believe yourself to be gay, and are contemplating making a 'change', you are one of two things, you were not in-fact gay to begin with, or you are suffering an on-going pretence.
Personally I believe that the lifestyle can be encouraged from and by a manner of the life a child has or hasn't.
But I am also of the opinion that 'gayness' unquestionably has got some genetic marker; meaning; there is an as yet undiscovered biological component which turns up in-utero.
It seems more than a little odd that were this true that surely this would have surfaced somewhere clearly by now. Very stange. Somewhere where they are not looking for it possibly.
Sally was the best host of the dozen contemporaries of her's. Always professional. Respectful.
    Classy lady.

Maybe just maybe hetero is not the default and bisexuality is really the reality for most people. We are just socialized to think it is one way. If someone can “stop being gay” they probably are just denying 1/2 of themselves. It’s a spectrum. Read the science.

As a lesbian, I wish badly I could be straight or bisexual because my dating pool would be so much bigger. The lifescript is written out for straight people already--men hit on women without a second thought (happens to me a lot). I've tried but I'm just not wired that way. Even with increased acceptance, being gay or lesbian is still not easy. Religion has nothing to do with it for me.
My ex left me for a man after 12 years together. She lied about her orientation for all those years--we discussed it a LOT because I had an intuition. Nothing hurts more than a lie of that magnitude. It's not just betrayal...it's having your whole reality turned upside down by someone you trusted. She made me feel paranoid & crazy for thinking she liked men. Gaslighting, they call it. But I was right all along. Don't think I'll ever get over it.
That's another thing: If you're lesbian & don't want to date bisexual or trans sexual women, you're considered bigoted. But everyone is allowed to have their preferences when it comes to intimacy. Nobody owes anyone their affection or attraction so I refuse to let anyone shame me about mine. But again, my dating pool shrinks by eliminating those people from it. It's a sad existence in my experience.

  • @ujustgotpwned2008

It's so sad that people feel that there's something *wrong* with their sexuality to the point that they have to spend time, money, effort and heartache on changing it. Generally it seems to be religion or parental expectation.

The best you can hope for with one of these ex-gay programs is going from openly gay to horribly repressed. Love is central to the human experience. We ALL deserve to experience it in its true form (with other consenting adults). This kind of lifestyle is equally harmful to the closeted person's hetero partner because it denies them of mutual love.

A lot of these religious types want/wish for a good "Christian/Bible based" nation, just like how we have many Islam/Koran based countries and one (Israel) Jewish/Torah based country. If so, does this mean homosexuality must be a death penalty offense? After all their go-to verse for denouncing homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13) insists upon it.

This pastor's logic doesn't make any sense. First of all, the verses from Leviticus were part of the law, and that only applied to the Jews. Anyway, later he says, "You don't live by every word of the Bible; no one takes it literally." The Bible says that you should not be quick to anger. So if someone struggles with a bad temper, does that mean they're not taking the Bible literally. Of couse not. Its means just that; they struggle with a bad temper.

_Sally's_ final show aired May 24, 2002 after 19 years. The series ended due to a decrease in ratings and a decline in popularity of the tabloid talk show genre across the board. These days, daytime television is dominated by the courtroom show and a resurgence of the game show genre.

only saw the first 5 minutes and already I found it hilarious. Sad to say there are people who STILL think you can make a gay person straight. Some fathers AND mothers (!) beat up their kids and terrorize them just to make their kids conform. So sad. Jesus NEVER said anything regarding homosexuality in The 4 Gospels! Why in the world would he avoid the topic if it is soooooo important. Because he really didn't care what sexuality his friends were. For God's sake, just be nice and do unto others as you would have them do unto you and you'll be okay and you'll be following God's dictates! Let's all grow up already!

    • @littlecasino60

I wondered the same thing, and was going to ask the same question. Why can't they just say they realized they couldn't really get into having a gay relationship and they are also an atheist. Well actually there was one to do that who was a transsexual and lived as a female for 20 years and decided that life wasn't for him/her and went back to being a male. He does describe himself as being an atheist and is still living as a male, so it happens.

I'm not gonna say gay ppl can't change...but I think 98.5% of time they are gonna change, I think for some gay folks it's a choice. Like I prefer chicken today instead of beef, but for most ppl it's ingrained and written in the DNA, and there's bnothing wrong with either one. It's a non issue, be who u are or be who you want to be. But I absolutely believe that the pray the gay away is dangerous, psychologically, abusive and that it doesn't work. And yes I believe and love God, but sexuality doesn't work that way.

@calvin smith have you ever done anything that is against the Bible? Unless you are Jesus himself, the answer to that is yes. We have all sinned, and yet we can still be Christians and followers of God because Jesus died on the cross for our sins. So yes, "true Christians" CAN be gay.

Nothing is being imposed on you.
You are free to live your life as you choose. However you are saying that others should not.
It is not for you to decide what is natural or not.
If God did not intend for there to be a percentage of people to be gay then they would not exist. You have to take all of it like the rest of the mysterious things God does and trust that he knows better than you.

It feels like they brought the two young men from exodus to the show to be ridiculed for their faith. Why did she keep talking about them in that condescending tone? I believe they spoke with respect to the other man and also referring to what they believe in without hurting other people's beliefs. I mean I don't think their organisation kidnaps youth from the streets and forces them to change. People go there willingly the same way that gay people don't force other people to be gay with them and should be left to their lifestyle choices. This show is supposed to be about sexual discrimination but all I see is discrimination due to religious beliefs. Sorry for the long dissertation

    • @austinscheller7630
      @austinscheller7630 9 років тому

Onyi noyi I haven't watched the whole show and I'm not trying to defend anything in it. But reading your comment, I couldn't help but notice the abstract language you used: "their faith," "what they believe in," "religious beliefs."
If you had been more concrete, you would have had to acknowledge that "what they believe in" is that gay relationships are inherently evil. They have made the choice to commit to a very mean-spirited belief. Does this not disturb you too?
Just this one clip has already made it clear that anti-gay bigotry is not an inevitable element of Christianity. Some Christians choose to commit to it. Some Christians, on the other hand, choose to commit to love, like the pastor in the clip.

He is right by saying that the old testament is only for jews and christians don t apply what is written in it . Nevertheless the homosexual act is forbidden between two men even tough they are not jews because G od told to Adam to be clung to his wife and we learn from that ''to his wife and not to a man ''

Leave them alone, let them be happy, they cannot be happy otherwise, who told you that you can tell them they can't be happy? Who told you. Do not say God, because He is all about love. I'm sure God would accept gays over war any day. Now sit back down.

really.. think long and hard about it before you reply.
Just so you know, I am Christian and straight and am not fighting for any agenda or to corrupt you. There is nothing evil to be gained from a gay relationship. How can love be bad?

At 00:14 he says the bible says that "practicing" homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. Well, in the NIV the word "practicing" wasn't added until the 2nd edition. It's the NIV's pathetic attempt to clean-up what was already a lie with their use of the word "homosexual", by now adding even more to Scripture with the word "practicing". What a tangled web they weave when first they practice to deceive.

Wow, these "ex gays" are conflicted. They're both basically saying, "I didn't choose to be gay but I'm choosing to turn straight." Uhhhhhh, yea--that makes sense. If you could just CHOOSE your sexuality then why didn't they both choose heterosexuality to begin with?? They both admit their homosexual feelings were something that came naturally to them -aka- not a conscious choice. So how the hell are they going to consciously choose to be straight? All they're doing is kidding themselves.

How sad is to see these people at this condition.... too bad they can't accept themselves for what they are ......they are treating their sexuality like an illness , unbeliavable...... being a fanatic is the worst thing!!!!!

Interesting how these people have felt a need to change who they were for God. From my understanding, doesn't God love all his children?

I understand that it is hard for you to challenge and question things that you hold so close. But think about it logically for a minute. Does it really matter? Who cares? Why press on about it when you harm others more than doing any perceived "good"?.
I am not like one of these idiots on here that will attack your spelling or whatever, I want you to really think about what threat does it pose and what difference does it make to the fact that God allows some people to be sterile. Nothing.

Just saw this on an Oprah reunion this evening, she's on a farm and still pissed that they cancelled her. She's working on a show about a woman who got fired from a talk show - LOL! And she's a frickin' PISTOL... very funny!
Oh and I completely agree 100% with your comment here. These people are still gay. God created the straight, He created the gay. Period.
