- The Hugh K. Leatherman is the newest containership terminal in the United States and the first one built since 2009. It is located on the Cooper River in Charleston, SC and operated by the South Carolina Port Authority (SCPA). Today, April 9th 2021, the Yorktown Express was the first ship to call the port. This port can handle the largest containerships on the East Coast up to 20,000 TEUs.

I have no idea how the UA-cam algorithm decided that your channel should be suggested but, happy it was. Always cool to find fresh content on UA-cam! Keep it up.
Pretty neat to see a brand new port.
I work at the coast guard base right next to HLT! So neat to see it finally open and taking ships!
I’m excited to see the new Coast Guard base they are building here too!
Please keep great videos coming
Things look so clean, and pretty!
Keep up the excellent job! We love your videos.
Baltimore added high capacity cranes about three or four years ago. It was a big thing that was celebrated here.
awesome >>>THANKS for posting!
Great video Sir Bryan...
Great video
This is so great to see happen on the cusp of the hoped for end of the pandemic! I love how colorful these container ships are! Great video Bryan
What company uses that bright pink, anyone know?
That is ONE (Ocean Network Express). It is a Japanese company
Amazing Love it Thanks for sharing with us
Love your videos..... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good to see new terminal
Good to finally see my work get put to use lol
Amazing camera work 😍 new fan from Portsmouth, NH
Cool! 👍👍
Good One 👍
Never seen an almost empty terminal before. Good vid.
Ah, look at the muck the tugs are stirring up. Reminds me of Sparrows point shipyard. Yum.
Pretty
The video is great! I'm going to have an interview with D. cadet. Can you give me some advice?
New and yet they don't have the suction cup mooring. You still have to tie up to the pier.
Yea perhaps that will be a future add on from Cavotec!
@@BryanBoyle Question: If you were to pull up and use those moorings, would your watch shift from line/tensioner checking to vacuum gage checks (assuming they're equipped with vacuum gages to monitor) or would Maersk have a policy that you would have to throw at least a bow and stern lines in case of vacuum failure?
Thanks for another awesome video. Was their a Pilot onboard? If allowed can you video the Pilot and his role navigating the channel? Thanks Bryan, your videos are always interesting
Thanks again! Yes there was a pilot onboard all the way to the dock. It might be difficult to get permission to film that part of the operation but I’ll see what I can do
@@BryanBoyle thanks! That would be awesome!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Bryan I know that this might sounds like an odd question but in your opinion is it to late for someone in his late twenties to join the maritime industry????
When I saw Leatherman, I thought you were talking about the Leatherman knife tool. I had to search for it to see where it was at because you did not list it and said it at the end. It was confusing to me. 🙃 thanks Bryan. I wonder if these cranes are as big or bigger than the crane that was or still is in Yokosuka Japan or was that in Long Beach Calif. ? I can't remember now. But it was taken during WWII. It was a monster back in the late 70's.
Not sure how these cranes compare to those ports, but these cranes are massive and designed to handle these new mega ships calling the East Coast. The Yorktown Express is much smaller than what this port can handle
Ship 🛳 ⚓⛵ ahoi 😃👊🤝
Hi Bryan! Do you know why is the Montana heading to Suez Canal? Is this a new route?
It’s heading to shipyard. It will be back on the normal route after
Do the terminals have any objection with the drone flying
I wonder if it is possible to get a job on a container ship without any experience, need an assistant in the kitchen or a nurse. because after covid, i need to change my mind, and i want to start with something that has always interested me, but since i live inland in europe, i didn't have a chance to try it. Thanks .)
Hello, Short hair looking good 😍
Thank you :)
Peace Bryan! I have been binge-watching your videos for the last 2 days. I really want to become maritime, but I am currently studying writing/translating. For the upcoming years(4-5 years), I will have learnt; Arabic, Turkish, French, Italian and C1(maybe C2) level English. Is there is a way for a student like me to join the maritime academy as a translator or a journalist? Thanks for the videos

Are there particular restrictions for flying drones in port areas?
Yes there are. You can’t fly them in a port without permission. I had to launch outside the port and stay outside the boundaries of the port as well
Hallo Bryan how are you
I'm from indonesia.
I like allah your videos.

Yet China has fully automated ports.
Google Maps shows this place barely finished!
Yea I saw that as well! Google needs to update their satellite images at some point
@@BryanBoyle from watching truckers make stops at warehouses, I think they're satellite imagery is about 5 years old
Looks shallow
